Reasoning - Snow is the big boy of this group, and with especially strong PvT and two terrans, one of whom (barring a special prepared build) is almost cannon fodder. With Snow getting to start against terran getting out is about as assured as you can get until the games are in the books.
Last should beat Kwanro easy, as my understanding is that our favorite aggro zerg has been injured and almost wasn't even going to participate in SSL, and this seems supported by his lack of appearance on a certain TL sidebar. Admittedly, Kwanro's aggressive style takes less practice to get in form than the meticulous macro play of someone like FlaSh, but I'd be pretty surprised if inactive Kwanro can beat Last.
Even if he does, he'll have to do it a second time as Last will certainly overcome Shinee. Amateur terrans do not fare well at all against progamers in TvT.
2 wins by Kwanro is far too much to ask against Last, which means he will be joining Snow in the Ro16.
Group D: Mong and Hyuk
Reasoning - Mirabel picked Sea.KH, but I don't see that happening, even if we work on the assumption protoss Sea is in form (and he may well not be). Mong has strong TvP as a general rule, and has solid tournament credentials. I would be suprised if PSea can beat him. Maybe a prepared build, but I expect Mong has it.
Hyuk, mediocre as he was in ZvT will still beat Tossgirl without difficulty. She just isn't at the same level as the rest of these guys.
Mong will, needless to say, crush Hyuk, given his weakness ZvT in pro BW and recent return. Even if Mong lost to PSea, he would need to lose again to Sea at some point to be eliminated, and I definitely don't see a 2:0 for PSea incoming.
This means Hyuk will return to face PSea. Mirabel must expect PSea to win this match, but that isn't happening. PSea had what could be at best describe as mediocre PvZ, whereas Hyuk was actually a very strong ZvPer from pro BW days. Asking a potentially rusty amateur to dismantle a very strong ZvPer in tosses hardest MU is a big ask, and one I quite frankly don't see happening.
I think we both have a decent idea of what should be considered when ranking players, it's just a matter of differing weight placed on the players' peaks by how far back they were. ZerO had a consistent ZvZ in the modern pro era and an amateur still danced on his head in a Bo1. I know that ZvP is an easier matchup to flex your advantages in than ZvZ, and I really, really want Hyuk to advance from this group, given that my favorite race is getting genocided right now, but I think we have more recent evidence that KH will beast it than Hyuk.
Not by much though. The cash is making ex-pros and amateurs evolve and choke like they never had a reason to before, so I can't really expect any group to follow my predictions like I could back when everyone was playing often enough to really get an analysis on strengths and weaknesses. And we have no idea who is good on Shin Peaks of Baekdu (although HiyA once was a master of this map, that was almost an age ago).
Before I read this thread, I would like to make the prediction that Hyuk and Kwanro will not advance. It seems like the safest bet in light of recent events.

Sometimes pros do it, but only when they specifically care if their opponent is cross positions rather than where they are, because it can take much longer to find the opponent if you do that.

Yea, I agree here. FBH was always a weak TvPer. Admittedly the ling thing was a bit careless, but also showed lack of any preparation as he didn't even have sim city to prevent such a thing despite playing a build that leaves no defense possible against a ling bust.

I have only seen HyuK play in afreeca so maybe that's why I don't expect whatever you guys expected from him. I've seen him go 1-17 or something on afreeca and then disappear for a year. Now he came back, semi-cheesed out Tossgirl and got eliminated as expected. He may have showed some nice control in the early game but there's just no way I see him keeping up with someone like Sea.KH. I just highly doubt he's been practising very much.

Yea, KH came out swinging nice and looked to be in solid form. Hyuk on the other hand not so much...though he was doing well against Mong for a while until he decided to Hyuk himself, kinda like he did vs KH by not making a few lurkers. I guess that just comes with the territory of Hyuk though and it's quite likely he would have gotten owned five minutes later even if he had made lurks.
Betting against zergs is a lose-lose situation for someone so biased against the other races, but I'd rather have been wrong with tonight's groups. Kwanro looked really good for a few glimpses, too.

The GEMA is stricter than most comparible institutes in other countries. To avoid being blacklisted by the GEMA, you have to cut the passages where any license protected music is used. But that's only relevant for german users and we do know how to operate a proxy, so there is no real need to do so.

hes an SKT zerg (albeit a trainee) and his competitive track record isn't really great.
though he has a resurgence of form (i actually dare say hes better than Killer now)
and does have a relatively easy group. he practices a lot in PCBang (with others like Piano), so who knows this might be the tournament he starts to shine.
SKH vs Mong was really good. Ppl were praising on Mong who showed some cute and solid play but personally I found SKH keeping up with him much more impressive considering he's an amateur.
Just watched Kwanro vs Last. I didn't know Kwanro was so solid in ZvT, that was a beautiful display of pre swarm ZvT. :o
