Following the group stages, there will be a double elimination tournament (winners + losers bracket) for the 8 players that made it through the group phase.

And by the way, I'm so happy right now because this year's organisation KICKS ASS, compared to what we had the other years (ironically this year is the worst for WCG USA :D).

-Right now if you listen to a Montreal radio station (like CKOI, or CKMF) you can hear advertisement for the finals at La Ronde. Those who live in Montreal WILL know there's something happening and people will come to the finals, so our sponsors can have some visibility. -There will also be a group of reporters making a documentary on WCG Canada and international gaming. They contacted us by e-mail for the interviews.

Does it cost anything to enter La Ronde?
For you, the player, it’s free. WCG Canada covers your ticket for the whole weekend. Your ticket is your Player ID card which will be given to you upon registration. Without it, you won’t be able to get in unless you purchase a ticket. All visitors must pay the regular price to enter La Ronde. More information can be found at www.laronde.com. In other words, if your girlfriend wants to cheer for you, she will have to pay the regular price. However, she will also have access to all the rides the park has to offer.
What kind of computers are we playing on?
Dell is providing us with the latest gaming system. On the main stage, there will be 10 XPS computers set up. They will be used to play featured matches as well as the gold medal games for each game tournament. In the PC tournament area, there will be 40 custom-built Dell Dimension systems. We don’t yet have the official specs but let’s put it this way. You won’t be able to blame the hardware if you lose.
Yes they are, you must show a proof of your citizenship + your passport or birth certificate, so nobody can fool the administrators by playing under a different name.

But yeah, XDsFire was one of the most dedicated members of the Starcraft community and a very talented gamer too. He's one of those legends of Starcraft in Canada. Good old times.
By the way, for those who don't know, XDsFire and XDsKiwi formed their own enterprise about 1 year ago in Montreal and now they have around 20 employees and they are doing well and growing.
They are two very very very very very talented Starcraft gamers and ex-gosus in the time XDs was the best team in the world outside Korea.
Really good to hear, they were both very manner guys at the WCG I went to. Canada is really tough because of the large size and limited resources. I take it, spectacular, you are part of the organization now. Keep up the good work

I believe you can beat oov ,like you said he is OOv but I think top foreigners (Mondragon,Testie,Androide[+top russians],Fisheye,Blackman,Draco) are seriously underated when competing vs koreans
they arent underrated. The guys u named + testie are exatcly the gamers who actually have the little chance of beating some good gamers and are exactly the guys who always do good at important tournaments ( at least fish,mondi,testie,androide .. ).

Also, its top 2. Of the 16 players, Ive pretty much only heard of Testie, Pride, Vasmos, and Fayth (I guess Ive heard of Jjang and Trance too, but they have even less hope). Pride, Vasmos, and Fayth are nowhere in Testie's league, and even if Testie does fuck up maybe one game against one of them, he still has a chance for second. Seriously, Testie would have to fuck up pretty royally to not qualify for WCG final.

FisheYe was the best German player for years until he stopped being active and Mondragon took over.

Starcraft starts tomorrow at 8 pm. It looks like SC is played consistantly throughout all days, but is only on the main stage twice. I think you have to pay to get in to watch, although I may be wrong.
For those of you who are interested in watching the event, you can pay 50 $ and have unlimited access to La Ronde. It's called a mid-season pass. I thought it was a good alternative since it's way better than paying 3x35$.
I don't know if the observers or media people will be able to access computers, let alone Internet, but if we do, I'll try to update the results as much as possible! And this year, we'll get the replays, I'll bug the organizers so hard that they'll publish them just to make me shut up.

Yup, on Korhal Of Ceres. It was GiYom vs Hellghost if I remember correctly. Grrrr..'s super early upgreated zealots wiped out the zerg swarm.

Uh, julyzerg got raped by foru's zealot rush in some wcg prelim game (or maybe it was on MBC? in either case, raped by zealot rush).
What i think... There are very good Protosses in Canada especialy in pvz so testie can be stopped in pvz... but testie vs T and Z cant lose ... this is my opinion

It was 42$ and I don't think it was worth it. All the blizzard games where played in the middle area where u could barely see the games from the spectator area. Chill vs Arki was shown on the big screen ZvZ tho... however I did get to talk to Testie, Chill, Bandit and Alex which was really nice. They seemed to be very nice people. I probly won't come back next year unless it's more spectator friendly.
Massive cheese on Chill, Bandit Rushed him on Gaia with mass Zealot and Probes but it was a little too slow and Chill was able to stop it with his 3 hatcheries producing zerglings. chill lost many many drones tho.
Chill going 3 hatch hydras while Bandit is finally teching to cyber. Chill massing drones now and I have no clue what Bandit is doing since he's way too far .
Chill just lost his natural to a massive amount of speed zealots. He has 16 hydras but i doubt he'll be able to deal much damage to bandit at this point.
JianFei is beating Vasmos. I think it's just a matter of time as Vasmos lost his natural to a big attack. His Nexus still hasn't warped back in. If there's another game I'll live report it.
Looks like its over. Vas has like 8 zeals Jian has 5 and is losing his natural nexus. jian using probes to kill left over zeals after the nexus died, big victory for jian
Vasmos expands again to his min only, with cannons defending. Jian still waiting for his natural to come online while vas has 2 running expos. Hes adding mass gates.
p.s. looking at the schedule, bandit vs vasmos is supposed to be played today but it might get postponed because they're running late, then the winner of that would play ZR at 11am eastern tommorrow, and then there will be a 12:30pm eastern gold medal game for shits and giggles

Vasmos takes 12 instead of his nat. Bandit has a shit load of Goons. 84 supply for bandit, 70 for vasmos. Nothins happening, theyre massing shit. Vasmos has high templar
Vasmos now takes 12's nat taking the exp count to 4v2. Bandit mass attacks and tooks the mid. Bandit drops 3 HT at vasmos' nat and kills half the probes, hes attacking vasmos' nat now. Wait no hes not.
Battle at Vasmos' nat. Storm everywhere. Vasmos' seems to have little troops. Cannons dying to goons. vasmos loses his nat but holds the ramp to his main.
Bandit lost a Shuttle, not sure what was in it. Vasmos storms all of Bandit's troops. Vasmos trying to drop. Shuttle got intercepted.
Vasmos is seriously just going Cannons and Templar and expanding. he takes bottom left's main and nat, making it like 5 base vs 2. He never rebuilt his natural. Once he switches to units that can attack, he should beat bandit.
Vasmos adds another gate. no gas yet. bandit adds gate. vasmos has scouted bandit but bandit hasnt found vasmos yet. vas manner pylons bandit. its causing a huge mess with probes / zeals shuffling around. manner pylon dead now. Vasmos still doesnt have gas. bandit isnt mining gas either.

Vasmos was losing a lot at the start, now I think he's ahead with 4 Cannons at his choke and HT there. Vasmos is expanding at top right with no defense. Bandit also has HT out now. Vasmos is taking advantage of Bandit being a little too passive.
Bandit storm drops Vas, kills some probes. Vasmos is taking his min nat now too. His entire game plan is exapnd and Cannon/HT until he has a big econ then attack. Bandit also is taking his min only now.
Vasmos moves out while storm dropping. he kills like 7 probes of bandit. Bandit finds bottom right and kills it. Vasmos puts a LOT of cannons / gates at top rights choke and takes top rights nat. He also DT drops AND HT drops. Both are innefective.
bandit charges vasmos' nat. His goons eat 2 storms and basically all are hurt. bandit kills the nexus and gets a lot of probes. ANOTHER good storm by bandit on 6 goons. vasmos doesnt have enough to defend his expansions so he needs to wait for units to warp in.
Vasmos moves out and defends his gas nat. hes got 120 psi, bandit has 92 Bandit takes bottom right but theres a dt killing it and i dont think itll live Bandit has 3 bases, vasmos had 6, and now that hes lost his army, i cant see vasmos losing.
Bandit has conistantly great storms as the armies clash in the middle. Bandit wish that battle with mostly Archon / HT / Goon. Vasmos misses with 3 storms as bandit moves into vas' nat again. Bandit realises he cant fight off the army and econ of bandit and tapes out.
wow, really impressed how vasmos took advantage of Bandit's playstyle (massing units trying to get advantage without being too safe at his own probes, but vasmos just defended, dropped, and expd to kill him later) props ;] hope to c vasmos dance with italian girl as he did with chilean girl @ Chile ;p

I'ed like to see Vasmos win it. My friend and I were talking about the tournament a few nights ago and concluded that Vasmos is one of those great players who excels under pressure. Plus I remember him playing on east for forever. So I'm rooting for a 1. Testie, 2. Vasmos.
Currently 1-0 for vasmos, but game 2 is on azalea and raptor seems to be steamrolling. Soon will be 1-1 with the third map most likely gaia.... I have a decent view of vasmos' screen if anybody would like me to livereport game 3
Bleh... I was gonna livereport but I got out of my chair and some CS player stole my computer in the 30 seconds that I went afk.... ah well, I have one now so I can livereport the finals (testie vs zergraptor), which is probably gonna start in 10 minutes.
Testie begins with 1-0 advantage and I believe it's only a best of 3.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's a best of 3-best of 3, where testie starts with a 1-0 lead. So basically, testie needs to win 1 best of 3 series, and raptor's gotta win 2 best of 3 series....if that makes sense. And I won't lose my PC here so I should be able to do a livereport!
Testie doing cute harassment with his probe, puts down a forge, raptor pools. Cannons starting for testie. Raptor puts down a gas, no sign of 3rd hatch yet. Testie 3 cannons, around his expansion, looks to be playing pretty safe... probably wants to take it in the mid game since he's got positional advantage.
Testie gets gas before gateway, raptor puts 3rd hatch at his expansion and begins a lair. Testie sees everything in raptors main as his probe is still alive.
2 more gates from testie, along with citadel... he's beginning cannons around his main and natural in anticipation of the mutas to come... testie sneaks a zealot into raptors main and kills 1 drone before it dies.
Mutalisks are out but testie looks like he' has enough cannons to defend. No templar tech yet though.
zergraptor killing gateways of testie since they're out of range of his cannons. templar archives finishes, archon is morphing. Testie has a lot of cannons and not very many gates yet. Top right finishes for raptor and he begins to hatch drones there....
Testie moving out with zlots/archons , heading for top right expo. Raptor doesnt look like he will defend. Hive also started. Lurkers come to help the mutas defend the expo. Defended successfully and testie retreats his strike force.
Testie now has an even bigger army with observers and he also begins to cannon the ramp of the bottom right main. Hive finished for raptor but he only has his main, natural, and the top right which isnt really full yet (just mining gas.. not many mineral-drones).
Oh, the main that testie cannoned up was actually taken by raptor so that expo is dead soon.
apparently the computer they're playing on only has gaia installed... which means all games will be on gaia, and zergraptor doesn't seem to care enough to complain.
Right now, the players are just building up and raptor has 1 evo chamber upgrading while testie has 1 forge. Testie is trying to stop raptor from expanding once more at the top right expansion with a dt but is stopped dy ling/dra.
Testie is moving out, but has slow zealots. His army consists of goon / zealts / temps vs 5 bases running and raptor gets also a queen nest with another evo chamber.
Testie is killing Raptor's 4th expo while Zerg raptor countered and kill testie mineral only expo. Right now, Raptor has hive tech with 3 evos and testie is attacking raptor's expos and kills it

no (i think i get this). seeing as testie has won the "first" Bo3. He only has to win one more Bo3 to win the tournament. Zergraptor has to win 2 Bo3s in a row, as if testie wins a single Bo3, he wins the tournament. accorindly, the most games that could have been played are 6, with zergraptor hypothetically two bo3s 2-1.
its easier to think of it like there are two more best of threes. testie needs to win one to win the tournament, where zr needs to win both of them.

wow I enjoyed watching testie's pvz games SO much. This is the first time I have ever payed a whole lot of attention to testies play.. man he is so strategicly BRILIANT. His games seriously made me want to come back to bw, so I started up a pgt nick.. and his play has honestly effected the way I play my game.
Im actualy thinking about changing my euro name from ilovepj to ilovetestie, but you know, people might get the wrong idea.

guys u have such nice organized events (germany, russia, canada, usa, mexico, etc etc etc) Peru event SUX so much the cyber i gotta go to play is on a tiny 2nd floor from a building where the word "INTERNET" is written with a pen, dirty and theres almost no light inside it, also the floor is inexistent, it's dirt , the guy managing it barely speaks and is always mad and don't listen to requests. I'm actually waiting for one of the admins to send me the finals replays to be honest but the zergraptorvsvasmos replays were already released. (i don't remember which page though)
It was magical. We found the best breakfast place in montreal the day after, it was good times all in all. The BW was sub-par but everyone was pretty cool apart from that.
Myxomatosis, like I said before, I might be getting replays from the finals or might not. The finals being played on the "stage" computers meant that I could not get access to those computers and so I have to rely on an admin to actually send them to me(if he sends them).

I was watching the replays from the WCG replay pack that was uploaded first and..
there are some games of some dude with the screen name "Packmule". His apm is less than thirty in some games and he is an utter newb who loses all his games horribly. The first replay I watched of him was labelled "Fayth vs arikin 1 azalea" so I assumed Packmule was Fayth. Soon "Fayth" had four badly placed cannons and five zealots lined up in a single gateway. I was like, wtf, wtf is Fayth doing, is he trying to lose on purpose because he's quitting starcraft or something?
So who is the guy and how did these replays find their way into the replay pack? lol...
Haha packmule came third in BC. 1st and 2nd didn't want to come, so he got the chance to come. He doesn't play on Battle.net. He said he's had some ID's but the fact that you have to be on it for something like 2 hours in the first day means his ID's keep getting deleted so he never uses them. O_o This is all second had and stuff I overheard, I never actually got the chance to talk to him.
Packmule is a 14 year old guy from B.C. who barely plays, and is going into University or College next year. He's 14. So, regardless of how bad his play is... he's quite something.
