Too bad the finals ended up to be the matchup where the map matters the least, relatively speaking .. well, at least the bronze match is TvZ ^^

Get hyped yo, grand finals coming up! I'll be casting, with either Radley or Hacklebeast or both or neither.

I'll hopefully have an interview or three for you all, and some map statistics (assuming tracurling or whomever gets them done), and some cool stuffz in general ;o

Won't be able to tune-in because of the time

Is Technics going to play random like he did vs eonzerg ?

How is Radley a favorite in the polls vs Sziky ? I mean he's not bad, but he's supposedly C+ high (since he was in the C rank KOTH).

I have improved during last weeks of not playing any games and now I am A+ level terran.

Man i can t decide if i like more 16 or 4:3 ... i guess 4:3 AT the moment but maybe just cause i m used to that...

GL to all in the Finals!! gogo co-cast with Radley please!! *or Birdie+Hacklebeast+Radley sounds good too

And again guys i might sound annoying BUT especiale Radey Sziky Technics Trutacz (but not only you) if you would like to write anything about the maps, go write it here please!! http://www.iccup.com/community/thread/525164/page3.html

This can include games that you played, things you found interesting and why/how is any of these maps balanced and worthy. Also if anyone from the staff or the good people at Broodwarmaps.net, would like to write anything as well, For example How the map was changed and fixed from the first version, GO FOR IT!! And that concludes the BWMN Open Tournament! Congrats on our winner, TechnicS! And congratulations trutaCz on second place, Sziky on third place, and Radley on fourth. (Zerg OP).

I'll have the cast up on youtube soonish, but while you wait, here's an interview of TechnicS!

Birdie: Hello TechnicS! How are you on this lovely day?

TechnicS: Hello, Birdie!

Well I didn't sleep too well, but I am fine thanks, and you?

Birdie: You just beat trutaCz in the finals of the BWMN Open, and you beat Sziky and a lot of other skilled players to get to the throne at the end. How are you feeling coming off such a big win?

TechnicS: I feel great. I played lots of really good players and winning them is very satisfying. I also learned a lot throughout the tournament so it feels good.

Birdie: This is your first tournament win in 2013, do you plan on winning a lot more this year?

TechnicS: I plan to improve further this year. I really hope I might be able to do so and hopefully get deep when playing in tournaments.

Birdie: You qualified for TeamLiquid Legacy Starleague 1 in the first qualifier, tearing through the open bracket. The only player who managed to beat you was eOnzerg, the player some say is your rival. If you meet him again in the main TLS Tour, are you confident that you can beat him?

TechnicS: Yeah, eonzerg won 2:0 vs my protoss in that qualifier finals. But I think that I can beat him with my protoss too. If we meet again in this TLS tour again, I will be playing him zerg though.

Birdie: What player are you most scared of meeting in the TLS?

TechnicS: Nobody particular. Since the qualifier stage is now over and we are in the group phase, I think that everybody who qualified are players that better be not underestimated.

Birdie: What are your thoughts on the maps of BWMN Open Tour?

TechnicS: At first I thought of the maps of this tournament as good looking maps and that have a lot of potential. But I was also worried
about that they are not really well balanced mineral/gaswise and felt rather uncomfortable playing on them in the first rounds of the tournament.
Later on, thanks to the readiness and the hard work of Freakling (the mapmaker), the maps became better and better after each round.
I think that only some small things are left that need to be checked and eventually improved. IMHO the maps are almost ready to be used in more tournaments.
Although, I didn't play too many ZvPs and ZvTs throughout the tournament, the 3 and 4 player maps seem really good and that they allow not only classical, standard but also new, fresh strategies
to be employed. I only felt uncomfortable in a ZvT on one of the two player maps - Cross Game and that makes me unsure how bad/good for the zerg the two player maps will be in zvp and/or zvt.

Birdie: What is your favourite alcohol?

TechnicS: Although I don't drink lately, some pure Finlandia or Bushmills Malt xD

Birdie: Do you have any messages for your fans, or shoutouts to make?

TechnicS: Thanks everybody for watching and cheering for me! Also thanks to Freakling for his efforts on the maps! ^.^

Birdie: Thank you for the interview, and good luck in the rest of 2013!

TechnicS: Thanks and gl hf in 2013, Birdie

Thanx to all the people involved in this Tournament, it was nice to watch and play in as well. I liked the double elimination bracket for the group stages; Nice to have it only there and not in RO16 and so on. Can' t say too much about the maps, only practiced wall-in on on Cross game PvZ, quite easy TBH, maybe a little more space behind the wall would be nice since its reverse ramp, like Jade. Was really cool to play vs Sziky on that map . Melting pot seems like an interesting map with the double bridges, again havn' t played it more than twice so can' t really tell. Thanx also for the casts. GG' s and looking foward to seeing and playing in future Tournaments of this kind.

I've kept map stats and the match list through out the tourney, here they are.
BWMN Map Statistics*
Although these statistics are nice, they aren't fully indicative of map balance for a couple reasons:
1.) Zergs. There were a lot of high level Zergs(as the level of foreigner Zerg play seems to be higher then other races) in this tournament, with TechnicS, TrutaCz, and Skizy being the top finishers, and with the highest non-Zerg player being a C+ Terran who created a lot of entertaining bunker rushes(I love your playstyle Radley)
2.) Small sample size. There were in total, 140 games played, with 45 ZvZs, 6 TvTs, and 4 PvPs. With 85 non mirror games, across 6 maps, that averages to about 14 games per map, and then further divided into MUs thats an average of 2.4 games per MU per map. While the stats are better than some of the last proleague maps, further testing will be needed to determine map balance.

In summation, these map stats are nice, but they aren't 100% reliable and further testing needs to be done before judgment can be passed on these maps.

* It took me quite a while to compile these stats, and it was really frustrating as each time I checked them, I would find some discrepancy. I have checked these final stats 5 times so I'm about 98% sure they are accurate, and any innaccuracy would only be like 2-3 games...
