Ladies and Gentlemen, after a long wait, a StarLeague for yellow ranks has been rebooted in force. Welcome to the first season of the C Rank Yellow StarLeague, sponsored by an awesome community member who would like to remain anonymous. We realized that our friends in the red ranks were getting all the love, and he showed me a lot of graphs and charts which revealed that there had been a 5% drop in love for the yellow ranks. This situation was unacceptable. Therefore, I have the distinguished honor of hosting the C Ranks Yellow StarLeague, and hope you the players and viewers will have a lot of fun while ripping each other apart for the prize-pool of $250 US Dollars! Enjoy!
So, when does this start?
Friday, August 17th will be the official start date for the ladder stage, which will run until exactly 12:00CET on August 25th. You can sign up for the ladder on iCCup.com. The following weekend will be the first round of the group stages, the round of 32!
Prizzzzzes
Some people would kill for $250. Some people would sell their liver. Some people would start an illegal pyramid scam. Some would pump gasoline (or petrol, for all you British lads) naked for 5 minutes. Fortunately, you don't have to do any of those things - all you need to do is play StarCraft! The prize pool consists of 250 US Dollars, and will be broken down thusly:
1st place - 130 dollars 2nd place - 60 dollars 3rd place - 40 dollars 4th place - 20 dollars
So, how you can play?
To play in this league, you must have a maximum score of 5,500 points on the iCCup ladder. If you have a max score of 5,501 points, then I apologize, you'll have to watch the league as a spectator . Your minimum iCCup point score must be at least 3,000 points. If you would like to play, but do not meet the score requirements, contact me so I can tell you no. Please read and review the rules before playing.
Players with a match-history from the D-ranks Tours will also be allowed to participate if they would like to give it a shot!
1. You do not talk about Fight Club. 2. You DO NOT talk about Fight Club. 3. No excessive bad manners during games or in the game lobby. Treat people with respect, and treat others the way you want to be treated. 4. No excessive talking or chatting during matches. Do not distract the other player with banter during the game. Do not preemptively type "gg" if you feel like you've won, or the other player is stalling their defeat. 5. If you lose a match, always type "gg" to show respect for your opponent, even if you don't respect their method of play. 6. Standard iCCup rules for matches apply. 7. In-game disconnects will be handled like normal games, where you will be required to report a no-point game to the iCCup staff. 8. Show respect to the Yellow StarLeague staff and iCCup staff during the tournament on your YSL ID. 9. All players will be required to play on the ID they registered to play on. 10. Only one account is allowed per player, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you want to change your name or create a new ID, let me know so I can remove the other ID from the ladder team on iCCup.com. 11. ALL games that you play MUST be saved. 12. You may not play the same person like 200 times to rank up on the ladder. That is completely dishonest and will not qualify you for the group stages. 13. Your "max rank" must not exceed 5500 ladder points, and must not be below 3000 ladder points. This competition is for C-/C/C+ ranked players only. Anyone who deliberately violates this rule will not only be disqualified from this league, but the subsequent league as well 14. All games must be played on iCCup Launcher, with LAN LAT: ON. 15. Any third-party programs that alter gameplay in any manner are strictly prohibited with the exception of iCCup Launcher. Hacking is prohibited and will result in a ban from ALL future tournaments. 16. All complaints in-channel must come with a screen capture with the /time command. Failure to do so could potentially result in your complaint being denied, although certain exceptions may be made if there is an individual exhibiting a repeated antagonist behavior. 17. The rules can change at any time, for any reason, sometimes randomly, and for no apparent reason, because there is no justice in this world. 18. I am the final word in all situations, the queen of the universe, and my word is law. 19. Rule 19 no longer exists. 20. You may not transfer stats to your YSL account from another ID, including YSL IDs. 21. No win-trading. 22. Only person (IP address) may play on one account.
23. All race-pickers must declare their races before the start of the league, including the ladder stage.
Special rule:
If your match ends in a technical draw (for example you have like 2 dark templar left and nothing else, but your opponent only has cannons and can't attack you), then it's ON. It's become a game of endurance, and whoever leaves first loses. BM rules still apply, so you can't threaten the other player with death if they don't leave, but all rules concerning excessive talk are lifted. You may bribe the other player to leave, but you may not trade ladder wins. You may not disconnect, or you will be counted as the "loser" of the match. Basically, you want to be so passively-aggressively annoying that you cause your opponent to lose their cool and cuss you out, thus disqualifying them or causing them to leave the game.
How to sign-up:
Signing up takes three simple steps, and will take you very little time, so you can sign-up in between commercial breaks for your favorite TV show.
Post in this thread the following:
The ID you intend to use for the tour, which must have a YSL at the beginning of the tag, for example: YSL.Person, [YSL]Person, YSL)Person(, YSL-Person, etc.

Yeah, NoisE did the first C Rank League, and I want to acknowledge that, because it was a very well-run tournament.
But if you're not part of that organization, how can it be season 2? Also, ASL2 is coming soon...
I understand what Game is saying but I think Nina is just trying to say that it is the 2nd C ranks league that has happened so far, if I am not mistaken.

Don't worry, I fixed the text in the OP so that everyone here can be a mature adult.
i dont like the isolation of players. where is the motivation to develop -.- so i have not reached 1:1 5500pts this iccup season, could i participate in theorie? ^^

Correction, Shimy did the first two C rank leagues leading up to this one, NoisE was the sponsor. And to anyone who's asking, the tournaments have no affiliation with the previous line of tournaments hosted by Shimy himself.

This has always been a problem with C/D ranks tournaments, however, it is not unsolvable.

Yes, there will be a ladder stage. It will be hosted on the iccup server using the ladder system already set up there. The link to the YSL team is in the original post.
I have reached B- twice, once by winning a tournament and getting 1k points for that, once by laddering, but that was more than a year ago iirc. I haven't managed to reach 5500 or higher ever since, is that okay as it is my current skill (I also hadn't played BW for ~3months between april and july).

if I may ask, why would Telecom be eligable to play but not me? He has reached B-, just like me, and also hasn't been active for a while now but matches the criteria of not being above 5.5k?

I want to first start off by thanking you becuz well you;'re one of the few ppl left that are still trying to keep this game alive and care about this game...but.. there's like barely any sc tourneys left ...I can feel LML's pain becuz like him I;ve gotten to B- before but it's been so long since that happened that i doubt im that skill level anymore. Also, how do you know if all these ppl are truley C- to C+? What I'm saying is they may not have a "B- or higher" recorded on iccup but they might play more on fish or just never played on iccup and played mostly on west or something but are very good.
Man this would've given me(and possibly many others)to play and practice again in the few weeks of summer break that's left
Isn't that part of what ur trying to achieve tho to be a part of keeping this game alive? I still haven't switched to sc2 yet becuz I really really like BW(havent played not one game of sc2 + read my quote even tho it's outdated now T_T)..and tourneys like these makes me wanna play again but u set that skill requirement

The main advantage for people like LML is they have the knowledge and experience of being a higher rank, so even if he's rusty he can easily play with friends/clanmates and re-gain what he lost before the ladder stage finishes giving him a huge advantage for group level(let's be honest, if you are above B-, to get back to B- takes like 2days esp if protoss)
and I assume the cut off thing is so there is less grey areas of people who are B- and such but claim they are high C+ just to play in the tour. From what I saw in the ASL, it was clear that Rush was not in the C rank level. (considering he offraced the ladder then switched for tour play is also really shady for a $ tour)

Yet player like me who have reached high C+ but have quickly fallen to low/mid C+ are out of the running because I have an account that reached 5590 yet anything after that is in the C- and C range. This is kind of a pointless cut off.
And Rush is in the C ranks. He was shown to be beatable in every aspect as was Wands even though he's hit B- and beaten players like Alfio.

For the tournament stages, I'm going to ask all the race-pickers to announce the races they will be playing. This means you will have to pick which match-ups you think will be good for you during the tournament stage beforehand, so keep this in mind please.

I appreciate your thoughts and concerns. Our sponsor was clear about wanting to host a tournament for C-/C/C+ rank players though. For players like yourself and LML, there are higher-level leagues where you can play - such as the defiler tours, which come around every 2 weeks or so. There is still plenty of reason to practice and continue to enjoy StarCraft, including the competitive aspects of the game.
As for our counter-abuse methods, I say how we are going to be monitoring potential cheaters, but I can give my assurances that this tournament will be run responsibly and fairly. Thanks for your comment, and I hope you can continue to enjoy StarCraft: BroodWar despite unfortunately not being eligible for this tournament.

I'm going to ask that you take up any further concerns or disagreements into private messages and not derail this thread, because the rules aren't going to change, regardless of whether or not you agree with them.

Alright so PMs I have recieved about rule changes has no relevance in this thread?
Edit: I would also like to take my concerns out publicly so my words aren't twisted like certain PMs of mine were in previous conversations.
Should be pretty cool, looking forward to the games!
Though I think it should be: First place: Second place: Third place:
Anyway in tournament formats, second place is also the only place/medalist to lose before getting the award hehe. I mean that much is obvious but I've always thought that was sort of interesting.
Go out and give us some good games y'all (especially toss. gogo)!
On August 16 2012 10:09 krndandaman wrote: oh and just wondering, will the maps for the tournament stages be released during ladder (to know what maps to practice on) or just before the tournament stages begin?
The maps will be released shortly before the tournament stage begins. The maps probably won't be too off-putting (like Troy or something weird like that) but I will make an announcement close to the start of the tour date.
Nazza and I are considering an all aussie dual cast, with bonus below rank casting for extra hilarity. Although we will be casting reps instead of live because we aren't capable of time travel and aren't particularly fond of no-doz, will keep you posted.

is far from
"Hey Reclusive, I would love to see you play, but didn't you get B-?"
But You know a C+ player that hit 5590 in his prime and hasn't played more than 10 BW games since ISL and ASL is such a risk of running away with the show especially since he didnt make it out of ASL group stages due to lack of practice, I clearly understand your paranoia.

is far from
"Hey Reclusive, I would love to see you play, but didn't you get B-?"
But You know a C+ player that hit 5590 in his prime and hasn't played more than 10 BW games since ISL and ASL is such a risk of running away with the show especially since he didnt make it out of ASL group stages due to lack of practice, I clearly understand your paranoia.
I didn't want to take sides in this, but if you read the rules... I think you'd see more clearly why you don't qualify for such an event.
I clearly see why I don't qualify, but there are people who are being given special treatment so I demand the same.
I think you're getting the wrong idea... about my post
Gotta ask; I am currently C+ with 5050 points or something. Does this means I should stop laddering on this account in case i might breach the 5500 points-limit, or is it what you have previously achieved? Quite boring to start laddering up with a new account if that is the case.

You've made your point so can you stop spamming the thread?
The purpose of this tournament is to give the D+ through low C+ players a platform to improve rather than to return C+/B-players back to form.
Unfortunately, in any tournament like this there's going to be a few players that straddle the cutoff who are going to get boned but I'd rather have that happen than turn the ro16 onwards into a Best of B- tournament.
you guys QQ way too much, 5500 is more of a guideline, there is no way of proving if you were 5500-5999 from previous history. Those, however, who were B- before and now returning probably won't get to play if they are known, I don't see anyone getting special attention other than telecom who has no proof of ever actually reaching the rank of b-.

Making a point generally includes having the point delivered, which in this case, it was not received, there's been no reply to him that really takes his words into consideration, therefore, he can only assume that his point was not made. There's no need to get angry over general tournament discussion which occurs in every tournament thread that's ever existed.

Also about getting special attention. Does it matter you can't prove it? Can you prove Rush and Wands weren't C/C+? And yet you let some one who blatantly acknowledges his skills as B- into the league(even though I know Telecom is trash).

Shotcoder, stop posting on this thread, or I will report you to Teamliquid's moderators. Derailing the thread and calling people "trash" is unacceptable behavior, and I would recommend that you apologize for this complete disrespect to everyone in this league and the people who have worked hard to put it together.
Furthermore, leave Gecko out of this. He is not part of the iccup team, and cannot scan people's IPs. He offered to create artwork for the tour if I asked for it, but beyond that, he is not "at my disposal".
I will gladly post in this public forum as much as I would like. Ther ehas been no derailing as all of my post pertain to the YSL and my acceptance into the YSL. And why you consider it reasonable to let someone who claims to be B- ranked into a C-/C/C+(1/2) tour.

to be fair, telecom said he has reached B- before.
'13. Your "max rank" must not exceed 5500 ladder points, and must not be below 3000 ladder points. This competition is for C-/C/C+ ranked players only. Anyone who deliberately violates this rule will not only be disqualified from this league, but the subsequent league as well'
to add your statement that previously achieved results count, this would just play into this role.
so in that case noise would still hit the criteria better than him, barely getting above mid C+ according to what he has stated here in this thread.

I cant play or nothing (next time hopefully!) but I've been following this thread for some reason. It's oddly entertaining.
Also, something occurred to me - Since YSL people can only play other YSL people for the ladder stage (I think), legit C- players might end up falling to like D- if they play a lot of C/C+ players :O
On August 17 2012 10:37 bd.Makin wrote: ladder is only vs ysl players?
Is it...? I think we need an " Op YSL" Like channel then , so it's easier to find games possibly
EDIT : Yeah that is what it says in the rules, we need a Op YSL Channel asap!
EDIT 2 : This is going to be a lot harder since we can only play other YSL players... but I guess more interesting. :-P
The channel is OP YSL - but so far not very many people have logged on. Unfortunately, I wasn't on my computer, but in retrospect, I should've left StarCraft on and camped out in a channel.
i dont think ladder is a good way... finding opponent with so much small player count isnt fun. For TSL or other big tourneys was ok... Group stage + playoffs would be much better for this small tourney
if it a open tournement with no rank requirment than it is no problem to make a non ysl ladder, but since this is a ysl only ladder, how do know other wise your not farming vs d's for example
i think ysl only ladder is badd aswell, i rather have things like bigger group stages, or qualifers like isl and tsl3/4 did.
The ladder is presumably an iCCup custom ladder so that whenever you play another player who's in that custom ladder, you get points on that ladder rather than (or as well as) on the ordinary ladder.
On August 17 2012 13:27 dRaW wrote: only playing other ladder players from the YSL must be tough to find games
It was the same for ASL, and yeah - finding opponents can take a lot of time. Prefer how TSL did it back in the days where you could ladder vs anyone, but there were rules on how many games you could play vs each opponent etc.
Maybe not enough people know about this yet, the announcement date and start of ladder was really close. Now there's only 1 person on. There's also only 30 players signed up for this...

Pretty much sums it up... The ASL had 100 players and JUST BARELY had enough to host an effective internal ladder... And even then, there were down times.
The ladder stage seems to be picking up very slowly, so let me ask this, because I respect and value the opinions of the players in the league!

Unfortunately, an open ladder is not viable in a tournament of this sort because the rules would have to have dramatic changes to prevent cheating and abusing. Besides that, I don't really have a staff of minions to keep an eye on everyone's matchlists, so it would be very difficult to do at this stage, unless I wanted to sit at my computer all day, which I don't. That hurts my butt.
Therefore, the next best option would be start on group stages right away. Unfortunately, this would mean that a lot of players would be knocked out of the competition almost immediately, and I didn't like this. I wanted to give lesser-skilled players more time to practice and be a part of the competition, hence the ladder stage. The drawback to the ladder stage right now is that school is going to be starting soon, and a lot of people have very tricky schedules. If the ladder activity doesn't pick up, I was considering going right into group stages, but I want to respect the players' decisions and give them a voice before making such a drastic decision.

What if there was enough manpower to check players matchlists for an open ladder, would it then be considered?
I'd have no problem checking some matchlistes for you to see wether players have played a certain opponents several times or played lower ranked players. ASL was good, but I couldn't be arsed staying online waiting for other players to log in. I logged in, checked, then logged out and went on my ladder-account as there were no players online. I think the league would benefit from it and might get some more attendees if the opponents played several YSL-tagged players given the fact that registration is still up.

I mean, I'm all for privacy and everything so I'm not asking for smurfs. But I do feel that some identity should be given. Not only for the players but for viewers as well. For players, its just confusing when people start using different ID's and don't list their normal ID. People who use their normal ID are at a disadvantage because its easier to remember/know who they are and how they play and also find replays. It's also beneficial to viewers as its not so fun watching a bunch of random guys you never heard of duke it out to face more random guys in the next few rounds. We need a face (figuratively of course) we can place on ID's. It's also just plain confusing if some player like "n.Die_Jaedong" changes his ID to "YSL.starcraft2now" and makes things inconvenient. Most, if not all, tournies have forced players to use their main ID unless they have a good reason. I hope you reconsider as there is more to gain than lose by releasing at least 1 AKA (the most well-known one) for each player.
If you really need to know, please send me a PM or email. If there is a discrepancy in someone's play that makes you suspicious, I will share some of the information with you. Most of the people have signed up using non-smurf names, however, others like Fold and Ngenuity (among others) have signed up under different names than what they normally use.

I didn't let Mack play in the tour because he was not eligible to join. Peewee is munkee[wok]

Okay, here's the deal, so read carefully:
I asked you, the players, what you wanted, and you want to get right into the tournament stage. However, there are more than 32 players signed-up, so all the top 32 ladder players will be seeded into the tournament. Only people who have played games and are active enough to participate will be eligible for the tournament stage. Therefore:
Player1: 0-48 [E] <- will get in because he's actively playing
Player2: 0-0 1000 points <- will NOT get in
If you decide "Oh, I'll just go online and lose one game, because then I'll be considered active", then don't count on being part of the tour, because the ladder is now OPEN. You can play ANYONE now.
You have exactly 1 week to get your points on your YSL account.
GL HF
Edit:
Q&A
Q: So I can play anyone I want now? A: Ya.
Q: When do we play ro32? A: The ladder stage will end next Saturday at midnight, CET. I will then slap together a ro32 thread, and you will have a week to prepare for the ro32 matches. Your opponents/maps will be announced on that thread.
Q: WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS I DON'T WANT THIS A: Calm down, it's not the end of the world. I like the idea of having a ladder stage, but unfortunately, it's tough for some people to get games because of their respective time zones!
Q: Do I need to clear my stats? A: No.
Q: Can I change my race? A: No.
Q: Can I still play against other YSL players? A: Yes.
Q: Will Shotcoder be allowed to play? A: Sure, why not...
Do I have to wait for someone to accept my request to join the team prior to start playing or will the games i play now still account once they accept me?
havent u hit b- before? i remember you for your ladder blogs
Yeah, I think about three years ago. However, the rules seem to be a bit odd and it seems that if you don't have any past ranks that show as anything higher than 5550 it's fine, and the highest rank I can find for myself on my account is C so...
I see some people picked two races but didnt specify which matchs ups they play. Does this mean we can pick two races and alternate when we play vs different people or when is their time line for having to reveal which match up their playing?

I particulary like this rule:
Do not preemptively type "gg" if you feel like you've won, or the other player is stalling their defeat.
I don't think I'm going to accept any more 1-post C+ players... they're getting way too numerous, and I've already caught a few guys with B-/B accounts that they "forgot" to tell me about.

People who only make an account @TL to sign up for the league = often people who are not really an active part of the community, unknown to the organizers so their skill level might be completely different from what they claim it to be. In contrast to people like fold who regularly stream their games on TL so everyone knows what their skill level is like.

well I guess there's a good reason for it I hope? cause it's gonna be a pain preparing for a match with a player you know nothing about and never laddered with (since this is an open ladder thats entirely possible) with no replays. and curiosity just kills me
There isn't really a good reason for it, more like a hilariously bad reason.
its not that, its having the decency and courtesy to say a bit more about yourself if you have 1 post. Not because we want to know about your private life but because this league has specific indications to who can and cannot play. Its not FFA. Its C rank people. Maybe these 1 posters send a pm, and inform privatly so i' m missing the point, but in DRIT people with 1 post accounts where mostly smurfers.
How did they get to know about this tourney? is it translated in russian? on defiler.ru? Chinese? and they all seem to be from random different countries.
Suddenly all the TL lurkers decide to come out and play, and they are all C+?
Its all very fishy in my opinion. For sure they will be some legit 1 posters but for sure they are some smurfers. I' ll be willing to put my money on that.
So all i can say to solve the problem is to check check check double check like i' m sure the organiser is doing.

Don't worry we are checking everyone's history and past tournaments. So far 4 or 5 new accounts were allowed, 2 banned, and 2 still unconfirmed. Also some of the 1 post players are lurkers who had accounts for a while. The rest are inactive or signed up after we decided not to accept anymore new TL users. I have to say that I'm really disappointed with the organisation of this tournament. I got denied to play it just because I'm manager of LRM. But I'm just a manager, never got better than C... This tournament is not a fair tournament if that kind of things happen. Seriously, I was not going to win this, I'm not good enough, just wanted to participate

Continue laddering and I'll see whats up when Nina gets on.
There is no need, I already offered to let him play just now. Myself and a number of other people I know have been treated badly by some LRM clan people, but SpaNiarD seems nice and good mannered.

I think this is Just because you are upset about the fact you lost the game, it was under my smurf account and had nothing to do with the YSL ladder, believe it or not you initiated the BM argument by basically telling me to leave the game for no reason when you said "Hey my Natural is up.." when you thought you had a significant advantage. What did you expect when you make such a comment like that in a middle of a game? The game wasn't involved with the YSL ladder what so ever, so I think you trying to get me in trouble non related to the YSL, is kind of pointless. gl hf gg.
Are points going to be adjusted after ladder? As in, if you play a game and the other guy drops and gives no points or you get credited with loss. Is that going to be accounted for in the final standings or are you going to just take them as is?

Ohh : /. I hope something can be arranged.
Are you allowed to participate in Noise ASL 2?
Yes, I've been accepted yesterday in that league
And thanks to ninazerg for reconsider it and let me play the YSL
On August 24 2012 15:48 krndandaman wrote: just wondering are we allowed to play on other accounts with other YSL players?
Really good question. This is the reason a lot of good players got disqualified from TSL2. While I would tell you not to do this, there is no specific rule that covers this, and a rule change the day before the ladder ends seems kind of frivolous. This will definitely be something that will be dealt with in the next season, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Unfortunately, the nature of laddering is such that there will occasionally be games that are unfairly unaccounted for. I strongly recommend that you report your disconnects and dropped games to the iccup staff as soon as possible, so that they can amend the situation. When the ladder is finished, I will take it "as is".

edit: How many will qualify? Got to do some laddering tonight.
32 will qualify for the tournament. Also, keep in mind that laddering is different than tournament play, so what might appear to be a low-skill player can be good in tournament situations, and vice-versa.

According to his profile he lost 6 games due to his SC:BW freezing. So, unless hes lieing that would make his record 42-11 at around roughly 5550-5700 points(depending on if he was playing vs one rank below, same rank or rank above).
So, 42-11 at min 5550 points. You do that the math.
Math doesn't lie, as you can see my algorithm also allows for the "unknown" which happened to be only two other possible accounts which was as follows:
#1 YSL-Dysxelic get #1 with .5% chance of this occuring #2 YSL-Thanksfor gets #1 with .01% chance of this occuring.
math cant help to decide who will win this. ive seen Breach playing and probably he is a monster, like in sc2 too, but he can suffer and lose against low gamers like me .. dont worry be happy

Its a fact only if a god says so.Ur not so this is no fact just some opinion.
anything can happen in game or even outside before the gaming of the next round even starts.
One can die , be injured , be stuck in a traffic , have important work , family emergency.
Yes, I totally agree thats why my algorithm accounted for deaths, injuries, stuck in traffic, important work and family emergency. Those were some of the factors that gave YSL-Dysxelic a .5% chance of winning and me a .01% of winning among a few other game related things.
Furthermore according to YSL-Breach's profile he lost 6 games due to his game crashing. Therefore his real record would be 48-11 5592 C+. So, a player who can get 3 games away from B- in only 11 losses is C+ max skill? I don't believe that, maybe you do. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

check kingselassie or ifu.breach on iccup. those are my other account on iccup. i never hit B- on iccup, i wouldnt signup if i couldnt meet the requirements, but i think the C+ back in the days is worth much more than now IMO. i play sc2 and we discussed it a lot on iccup online. this stats only shows, that if you have opponents to play with and noone dodges and i can play maps i know, i can beat C and C+ players. but i played mostly with YSL players, about 80%. i dont want to speak about this, but its rather annoying to call me out. if i will be let to play in the ro32, i dont think im the most favored player here.
Look, I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you do not qualify for this tournament. I don't care if you play, but if you keep acting innocent and if you keep telling me how you qualify then I will point out even more evidence to prove you're over the requirements skill level for the tournament.
It's best to just let it go. The next time you say it's annoying, I will make a even better point. Stop while you're ahead.
The annoying part to me, is that this tournament is for cash and I think you're coming in to just sweep the cash from other players.
I am in the tournament for mostly fun. In fact, if I happen to get lucky and win I will donate my winnings to a charity or maybe even to someone in the tournament that has more pressing financial needs than I do. I am not rich by any means, but it's more about principle than anything else. I would donate my winnings to verify that fact.
And for those who might say " Why don't you release that evidence right now" . I don't release it because I've already made an iron clad case and if the people that run the tournament choose to let someone play, it's not for me to tell them not to do that. It's there tournament, effort, hard work and money not mine. I will follow their rules.
I'd rather just drop it at this point and will let the chips fall where they may.
Please, tell me the evidence now, clear this thing out right now :/ I really dont know who you are to speak with your stats (55-22 same thing) with your offrace, as you told me. You are the clear first and you "attack" the second place. Coincidence. Kinda.
Lastly, Even in the best case scenario you do not qualify for the tournament based on the rules stated on page 1. However, if the best case scenario is 100% true then it is possible you didn't qualify just by a small margin and that's where it's up to the tournament makers to decide.

This coming Saturday, at 18:00 CET the ro32 will be played. SET YOUR DAMN ALARM CLOCKS, mark your calendars, tell your cat to remind you. Stock up on energy drinks, eat plenty of protein and prepare your mind and body for some StarCraft. If you are going to be late or are going to postpone for emergency reasons (Like you need to rush your pet rock to the vet) let me know at least 24 hours in advance of your matches so I can make the appropriate scheduling arrangements. Also, be sure to contact your opponent and set up a time, which you will both confirm with me. I will let you know who you will be playing in your group in the upcoming ro32 post, so go ahead and spam me with messages asking who you're going to play, because you're gonna do it anyway.
The format will be GROUP STAGES, and will be bo1 with double elimination.
Player 1 -> Player 2 (1 Goes to winners bracket) Player 3 -> Player 4 (4 Goes to losers bracket)
Player 1 vs Player 3 Player 2 vs Player 4
Winner of Winners Bracket moves to ro16 Loser of Winners Bracket faces winner of Loser's Bracket Winner of Loser's Bracket faces loser of Winner's Bracket
OKAY????? So if you find yourself losing your first match, don't get discouraged and say to yourself, "Screw it, I can't do this." but rather, pull yourself together, because you are still in the tour and need to fight for the right to stay!
Now, empty your mind of all that.
You're actually going to play on Sunday, September 2nd at 19:00 CET, and the format will be bo3, with the winners advancing to the ro16. So, scribble out your calendars and mark the NEW date and time on your calendars.
The groups are going to be completely random, so don't start worrying about who your opponents are going to be just yet - it could be anyone in the top 32!

Since it's now BO3 and no longer groups can you make the brackets like standard brackets? I mean if its randomly generated you could have the top 10 playing each other from ladder, which typically the small advantange you get from a ladder play is that a higher seed plays a lower seed IE: #1 vs #9 or #1 vs 32 #15 vs #16 #2 vs #10 etc and etc.
Is this possible or is it going to be completely random?

This is some fucking bullshit to be honest. How many leagues haven't you (as in better players like you are stating) been able to participate in?
This league and ASL are the only ones were lower ranked players actually get some hype around their game given the fact some games will be casted. Speaking of myself I couldn't care less about the prizemoney - I'd gladly participate in something like this even if it was no prizepool. To see people like yourself trying to justify smurfing to ruin a league people actually look forward to participating in pisses me off - not to mention the time and effort the organizers and casters have to put in to make this work out.
Well the issue here was we didnt know ASL was anything more than a 1-off so we wanted to create a permanent tournament for C players in the spirit of the DRTL and DRIT. Personally I think asl prize pool is a little too high for C ranks because 1. The players would sign up anyway and 2. There are higher level players more deserving of the money.
Preferably, the asl and ysl would be merged and another tournament would be open for all levels but eywa does not want to work together in any way.

I'm going to clarify this to make it crystal clear for everyone. I really don't want to get into any drama here, so I'm simply going to focus on what happened and not what I think about what happened.
First off, Shimy started an obvious trend of leagues to which he said at the end of each one that he'd be making another. First was sGsCRO, second ASL which can be viewed as a turning point, but not as a starting point. At this Juncture it seemed clear that Shimy was interested in organizing a larger, more professional league for C ranks to play in and give them a major reason to improve. This benefits low rank players, it benefits high rank players. At the end of ASL, Shimy I believe was pretty keen on making a second, just not instantly. Obviously, he had a lot of commitments in his life which kept him from organizing ASL2 until now. With that being said, there is an obvious flow.
ASL2 had been long since in the works by the time YSL was announced, thus, the plan was followed through on regardless. All of the money had already been collected and there really was no decision at all to be made. We knew that this would set off the organization of YSL as it would anyone to have a larger league be instated at the same time, however, it is really up to the new comer to request permission to host a league before doing so rather than the established organization to check up on these things. None of this was done by the organization of the YSL as such, they might lose out. Obviously, ASL2 is not in any way targeted at hurting the YSL, if it was, the time slot would overlap given that Shimy was told to reserve the time slot YSL took a while back. In the end, ASL2 got rescheduled because YSL picked their time slot prior to us.
As for the discussion about merging the two leagues, that discussion did take place. However, it was between L3gendary and myself rather than Nina and Myself or Shimy. In the end, L3gendary wanted to merge the organization and we simply wanted to merge the tournaments. Our strive for utmost professionalism given the tools at hand has always been a high focus of our organization. Respectfully, L3gendary disagreed with our ideals about professionalism in Brood War and stated that we weren't running a company.
Essentially it came down to a disagreement between our organization and L3gendary as to whether we should focus on growing our organization or perfecting it.

All of the money had already been collected and there really was no decision at all to be made. agreed, this is exactly what I was thinking. People should be happy to have an influx of leagues to play and reasons to practice to get better, at least I am very happy for this.

The more the merrier. Yeah, I absolutely agree. There hasn't really been any conflict between YSL and ASL, and I've even let the casters know that we won't be casting on Saturday so that people don't have to choose to watch one or the other live. I even thought the original Amateur StarLeague was cool, and I was unaware that another ASL would be launched, but I really wanted to pay homage to NoisE and Shimy's ASL1, and wanted to make something that would be a continuation of something awesome that they started. Any misunderstanding that came out of that was something I will take personal responsibility for. I hope everyone will tune in and enjoy both leagues in the coming weeks!

Like I told L3gendary, I will tell you the same Nina. Good Luck with this. The more leagues for the community, hopefully the more people we keep around and maybe draw in more as well.

I agree. As long as two ladder stages aren't happening at the same time it's all well and good if you ask me. If the two leagues work together it's going to be very good for all the C players out there and for the entier scene overall.
I can't find [YSL]munkie or [YSL]munkee anywhere on this sign up page and I don't think we were allowed to change names or /transfer. I am probably just missing something but can someone help me out here?

I asked Nina if I could and she said it would be fine as long as I didn't transfer stats. See you in our bo3 !
lol, so boring. I wanted vs P or T so I could fight unit vs unit. I don't enjoy Turtle vs Turtle, but I can assure you my Turtle is stronger than yours.
