Fantasy was the one dominating for the last stretch of BW's history, but Jangbi stopped him at the end. He was 28-4 since Proleague began, which is an iloveoov-esque streak, and overtook Flash's spot as best player (who slumped to 60% after getting Dear'd). It's just that he choked hard when it mattered. Jangbi's OSL wins were 11 months apart, so it's not accurate to call him dominating--especially when he went 8-10 in Proleague and was about 60% over the same stretch as Fantasy. So Fanta was the more dominant player over the last months, crushing nearly everyone (had a perfect OSL run, 2 stray Proleague losses), until he lost the finals and put Jangbi in the history books as the last champion.

If push came to shove I think I may give Fanta the edge at the end. Losing twice to Jangbi hurts his case greatly, but he was by far and away the most reliably good player.

Don't forget Fantasy's undefeated in proleague grand finals.

Seriously with Flash you never really know.

He is the best player of all time then would get 3-0's by someone or drop from OSL against Classic. I guess he would have absolutely raped Jangbi, but again, I guessed he would raped Jangbi last time too, and I also guessed he would rape Fantasy.

So what I've learnt from Flash: don't guess too much. It's unhealthy. :-)

there are only 4 things that are absolute with flash: 14cc, pocari sweat, ruler, and twitching.

You could say "if Fantasy wasn't able to beat Jangbi then there's no way Flash could have", but we all know how much better Flash performs in finals than Fantasy.

I'm sorry, but Flash wasn't in these finals. I suggest some of you accept this.

Tell that to (Z)EffOrt.

Okay, needlessly snarky, but Flash isn't unstoppable, even in a finals set.

Flash played stupid in the 5set.
Compare it to the 3set against Jaedong like a week later.

14CC? Make a damn wall so you don't lose to lings.

I think Flash would have won it. Fantasy has always been good at cheesing/funkie builds, but never at defending against cheeses. Flash is the polar opposite: Extremely mechanically strong and always blocking cheeses.

He lost 3 times in a row to protoss iirc. That means he probably practiced his ass off to kick protoss ass.
Lose to Kwanro twice? Go on a 90-something percent win rate against zergs.

Hell no he wasn't. Fantasy's games always fell apart the minute things didn't go according to his plan. I wouldn't consider him the most reliable by a long shot. It's a tossup between Stork and NaDa.

To those saying Flash would have raped JangBi, did you guys forget who knocked out flash in the last OSL semi-finals? I'll give you a hint....

I know that Jangbi is not the "greatest toss ever," but it warms my heart to see that he wound up with more OSL titles than the toss half of TBLS (Stork and Bisu) combined.

Oh, and a condolence applause for fantasy: 3 consecutive OSL final appearances is no small feat. Two years ago, he also had 3 consecutive semifinal appearances (including two finals).

Factor in his 4 OSL silvers, and that's now two things he's matched Boxer at

To me, the craziest part is what if all those 3-2's he lost were games that he won? It's really scary knowing that he was only three games away from four gold medals...damn..

Oh yeah. In Incruit, he had a puncher's chance to take game 5 against Stork (if only for Stork's inability to scout the 9oclock), and in JinAir, he looked so close to winning in game 5 and then Jangbi went beast mode. So he was really thisclose to 3 golds at least lol

And in Batoo against Jaedong, he just kind of tilted.

Man even with the hidden expo in Incruit, he was way behind in every metric. Puncher's chance or not, Stork is not the type to drop the ball when he's that far ahead. Not when he's got goon range researched.

Did you quote the wrong post or are you trying to say that Fanta isn't undefeated in the biggest stage of Proleague?

Jangbi is so underrated, even now, after winning 2 OSLs back-to-back. It seems too often to be an issue for all top protosses - when terran wins, it's skill ; when protoss does, it's gimmick. People just look at how the games look and think - well, that's not very high level, is it, any scrub could do that. They forget it takes highest level analysis of the playstyle of your opponent and the maps, to come to the right call, to out-mindgame your already mindgaming opponent. IMO, Jangbi proved himself worthy to be a double OSL winner, and he could have taken Flash too, with the proper preparation. Also, him and Fantasy just proved they valued Broodwar more than anything in the end, while I suspect Flash's attention was divided more, too bad for him.

I do really wish Bisu had won at least one OSL, but glad that Jangbi could take the last one at least!

Both Fantasy and Jangbi's playstyles are so pre-planned, gimmicky and aggressive which lead to amazing games like the last OSL finals, but the other side of the coin is that they also lead to volatile games like this final.

Every time I see this thread on the side bar I get a big smile on my face. It feels good to be correct, and I've never been wrong when it comes to Fantasy. He is a player with blindingly obvious limitations. His record of late has more to do with conditons that are favourable to him (less games, relaxed schedule, easier competition) than any significant improvements on his part.

Please don't tell me that playing vs. Flash was "favorable conditions". Or Jangbi, for that matter. In the last OSL semis and finals, Jangbi knocked out Flash, ZerO, and fantasy twice. It's not like fantasy ran into Movie or some other guy who somehow fluked into a final, and lost. Two seasons back, he took Stork to the woodshed - what I'm saying is, too many people make a big deal of fantasy not being perfect.

Yes, fantasy has limitations. His peak just isn't Flash's peak. He's super-reliant on prepared builds and scenarios. But every player has weaknesses: fantasy was still viewed as at least a slight favorite coming in. Props to Jangbi for working out how to take advantage of fantasy's problems, but don't sell fantasy short: fantasy's prepared builds are second to none when they work: fantasy in control of a game is incredibly hard to come back against.

Yeah you've been wrong when it comes to Fantasy since you always predicted Flash to win.

Afaik Flash has lost a few games against Fantasy?
