The last BW final (if it's really the last one) was also one of the worst. Jangbi went DT's in game 2. So when it loses, it's a straight game, and when it wins, it's cheese? I don't think you can call game 2 standard, even with an earlier nexus. And in game 4, if Fantasy actually manned up he would've been fine. Haha, he did so much damage to those goons and had a proper FD with 6 marines, but did nothing with it.

I haven't logged onto the site in almost a year now. Since SC2 started to dominate the site, I haven't had the fervor that I used to in watching pro gaming. Maybe a game here or there, but nothing like what Brood War did to me. I log on today, having watched Nuke's commentary of the last OSL finals ever, and write my first comment in years, to say thank you, Brood War. I am both saddened at the end of something that has meant so much to me in my life, and brought me such joy, as a vessel for which I met great friends and shared wonderful memories, but at the same time in awe of how Brood War still has the enormous power to captivate, even after fourteen years. I began watching Brood War in 2009, one of the worst years of my life. My first video of a pro game I still remember; it was Jaedong vs Movie on Heartbreak Ridge, commentated by HuskyStarcraft, back when he would mumble, back when he was still going crazy over every hundredth subscriber. Dragoon rush; crazy cheese, I still remember. Two summers filled with Starcraft, posting on teamliquid my replays that I uploaded to repdepot; playing hour long games of TvP, watching the streams online. I remember my favorite OSL final of all time, Jaedong vs Fantasy, the comeback series. I remember listening to triple commentaries with Cholera, Klazart, those legends. When it was late, sometimes I would go play the mutalisk training map, just to take my mind off things. When SC2 came out, I wasn't sure what would happen. I grew sad as I realized that no amount of clinging to the old ways would stop SC2, in itself a hugely enjoyable game, from overtaking it. It was honestly depressing. to see the slow, agonizing death of something I had grown to love so much, and seeing the faces of commentators and audience members, still keeping the old traditions alive, made it seem like Broodwar was a dying patient, put on life support. I never thought it would truly end, though. When it came to such things, I just tried not to think of BW ever ending, and even drifted away from the game. However, when I realized that it truly was ending, and that the long, fruitful life of this giving tree was coming to an end, I knew I had to pay my homages. Today, I come to do so; the cheeky dark templar ending to Brood War's competitive lifetime makes me both chuckle and sob at the same time. Perhaps an hour-long game featuring every unit and ending in a climactic battle would have been legendary, but at the same time, the memories of losing to DTs, and building them to crush unknowing souls, leave powerful pangs of nostalgia in my mind. Thank you so much, Brood War. What a difference you've made in my life.

Some people have problem to understand the concept of strategy game. IdrA is the only one who really plays straight!!!! Yep, well, guess what, that's why despite his good mechanics, he was so fucking awful compared to korean A-teams players. Because everything that was not FE into macro game from both sides was "gay" and that when he would lose to it he would nerd rage hardcore mode rather than thinking that maybe his opponent had been smarter. Let me tell you that when Bisu got cheesed to death by Flash and his refinery trick, he didn't nerd rage, he didn't blame Flash "gayness"; he probably just thought that he had been outsmarted badly, and went on to fix his playing so that it doesn't happen a second time. How do I know, you ask? Because otherwise, he would have been just as bad as Idra (realtively speaking, I know Idra was very good; but he sucked donkey ass compared to any A-team korean. I blame his stuborness). EDIT; I didn't talk about the excitement to see a player doing the same build than everybody every single game because that's straight, because his ragequit messages were quality entertainment anyway. But not everybody has his talent at insulting people.
