TheShimmy's Rush Week is an open tournament for all BW players in college. It is open to all skill levels. All rounds are single elimination Bo3 until the semi-finals. Signups are open to the first 32 to sign up! You can be a part or full time student at any college or university (US or foreign). Please don't lie and say you're in school to sneak into the tournament. Anybody caught doing so will be banned from all events I ever host ever. First prize will be receiving $50, and second $25. Not to mention ultimate bragging rights!
-No excessive BMing or chatting during matches. Don't "chat rush" your opponent or fake gg out. -Once a player types "gg" the game is over and that player has lost. -All rounds prior to the Semi-Finals are Bo3, semi-finals are Bo5 and finals are Bo5 -Only College BW players are permitted to play. If you are a recent graduate (class of 2010 or 2011) you may sign up but your spot is contingent on the number of students signed up. Faculty and staff are also welcome to sign up. -Any level of college may sign up, from freshman to grad/professional school. -All matches must be played on ICCup. If you fix the map pool I will play. However, I won't play in a tournament with a map pool that features 4/5 maps where moderns strategies don't work on them simply because they are simply outdated and are not compatible with macro oriented play.

I don't know anything newer than Fighting Spirit and HBR; I liked the original pool!
Well to be fair then there are two (my self included). The current map pool is good and easy but I would like to see more modern maps alongside favs like andromeda and FS.

So it looks like we are going to have 32 players! Which is awesome. I have moved back the deadline for replays for the first three rounds by a week. This will give the Ro32, Ro16, and Ro8 2 weeks to play their matches. Alotting plenty of time for casting and for matches to be made. Its refreshing to see such an interest in the college community.

Tau Cross has been replaced by Aztec. Destination has been replaced by New Bloody Ridge.
Reclusive Terran I play PVT though( I can play TVT if I can't race pick) University of Davis, Undeclared. I thought there would be more from Davis since we have a pretty awesome Starcraft Club..though I didn't join because I am lame. Anywayy same as gecko, put me as backup's backup :D.

How the Ro32 works:

Is there something I am missing, or is there a reason why the Youtube videos are only 5 minutes each? Did you cast all of the games somewhere and I am just not seeing it?
I think you guys need to improve your game knowledge Going storm quickly after DT is standard play. My timing wasn't particular fast or anything and you need the storm (yes my storms were terrible) or else it's not possible to defend reavers especially since i was behind, hadn't really scouted what he was doing and couldn't get enough gateways up in time to defend any kind of reaver push. The second dt I built was just to be safe incase he goes for any kind of rush early on without obs since i didn't have any cannons up at the time. If he tries to attack I can sneak second dt in to kill some probes and even it up a little.
Also fitz I'm Australian and only 1100 on fish.

PS I didn't race change, as I know that's a strong rule in this tournament. I discussed with EleGant that I'd play random for the set, having picked random the first game.

Lol yeah that's kind of true. In fact, I thought his co-caster was absolutely clueless. The main guy was ok imo, a bit hateful but knowledgable. It was straight said sometimes but if it makes sense and help us improve, I don't mind. But when you just talk shit when you have no knowledge (co-caster), it just make no sense and doesn't help us improve at all.
I want to point out too: Science Vessels can detect burrowed units, just saying. No need to scan in that case.

I don't want TheShimmy's thread to be a flame zone for my casting. I've PMed the person who wrote the piece you quoted. I have put it under my top advisement to stop downing players. I will apologize to anyone and everyone who has felt that way. I had no intention of downing any of the players I guess we were cracking too many jokes and laughing a bit too much. I can only apologize I cannot change peoples opinions of my casting. But I will be MUCH less "hateful" to players while I'm casting from now on.
BMW the co-caster, He is new to casting. I think it might be awhile before he fully grasps the game. If you reference like my old old old old VODs on this channel. I had no idea what the heck is going on here. So, it might take BMW a while to be fully adept.

Blitz's cast was a little inflammatory but theyve been very apologetic so lets let it rest i myself am guilty of the same things while casting, and I certainly am no great player. Thanks to all for an awesome Ro32. OP updates coming tomorrow!

I've offered a few times when I'm available and he didn't want to play until this week because he's busy apparantly but still has time to play in play/obs and post long posts on TL which probably would've taken just as long. KST is a complex mechanism fueled by unicorns and puppies. In other words... from CST (central US time I assume that is) KST is 14 hours in the future. It even has it for you in the top right corner in EST which is just one hour ahead of CST. Basically, one of you has to play in the morning like 8 AM vs 10PM or 10PM vs noon, etc.
Don't see why a coin flip should decide it when one person missed the meeting time due to not telling time properly.
I have screenshots to show that he missed the timing if you want? And I explicitly state the time and date and well before the game. 8/18/12 20:32KST was when I sent my message which is around 8am for him, so he has 10+ hours when he is awake to read the PM and indeed he read the PM and replied with an "okay". I turn up at the arranged time and wait for 15 minutes, no one is there.
Next day, I come back from classes and get a PM which he sends only 15 minutes before our supposed arranged time and so how am I able to see that and play?
I think it's troublesome for me to play a game with him but if you want us to play I will.

I work from 4:00PM-1:00AM tonight (16:00-1:00) so 20:00 CST clearly won't work for me.
How about you come up with a time on Tuesday August 21st that is between 12:00 PM CST through 3:00 AM on Wednesday August 22nd. That is a 15 hour window I am giving you, which I see as more than fair.
Moreover, its frivolous to say the scheduling mishap is exclusively my fault, because: 1) From the beginning I asked for times to be in CST and not KST 2) Fold sent me a PM on my August 18th saying we play tomorrow, implying the game was on my August 19th 3) Fold, even though he claims to have a knowledge of my akas and playing habits, made absolutely no effort to contact me at the time he thought we were scheduled to play.
