is the whole chinese scene like this or was it just a co-incidence that a lot of protoss happened to make it through preliminaries?

No bad luck expect English Commentary from this whole round As for the race selections, the Koreans were low in the pre-boxer era if Im not mistaken. Maybe a terran just needs to "break out." i didnt see any solid terran in thw CFTB, but die.jaedong and zergling were both superb, agressive zergs. Aystar too.

Korea = Terran China = Protoss Foreigner = Zerg I think it was mentioned that korea's zerg population (over-all not just progamer) is byfar the highest hence some of the reason why some progamers decided to go terran. Also fake Jaedong is clearly better.

Well... heres to a Fisu vs Faedong finals  EDIT: Maybe we could use that logic with P>T>Z>P Korea = Zerg, Top Korea = Terran Foreigner = Protoss (i know this for a FACT), Top Foreigner = Zerg Therefore, China = Terran, Top China = Protoss ?

I dunno, china doesn't seem to follow any rules, more so just star players.
