Greatest comeback ever?

Hardly, the valkyrie game decided the match, since then terran has 1 autowin (r-point) and 1 map with a fairly big advantage...

Boxer didn't even seem to play well, yet he won the series... lame. shit. fuck.

I mean the 2 games Pusan won sounds like he really outplayed boxer.
I wouldn´t call him stupid, but let´s just say he´s unlucky when thinking...

It sounds more like boxer got overconfident --;

Perhaps. But this feels like a sloppy semifinal compared to the awesomeness we saw 1 year ago between Reach/oov. :/

What's with people complaining about the maps, seriously. PuSan wins games 1 and 2 and people say "Good job, PuSan outplayed BoxeR". PuSan fucks up game 3 himself then BoxeR wins games 4 and 5 "due to maps". Whatever...

You cant really expect games involving Boxer to be macrofests like that series. I think you'll have to wait until oov actually plays to see such a match again. Anytime vs oov is has potential to be as good. But then Anytime would need to atleast win a game at R-Point, which Reach basically managed last year on the similar T>P map Mercury. Anytime isnt as raw as Reach with templars and shuttle bombs though but makes up for that with his awesome macro, not that Reach has THAT less awesome macro. I think those games will be alot more similar to ReachvsOov last year though, due to both players styles.
Live2Win is awesome. Happy new year scarabi!

Wow, I left this thread at page 11 to go to the doctor, with Pusan "owning", and now I'm back I find myself with this?

Indeed Boxer is a great champion, my 2 cents
Chuck Norris owns the greatest Poker Face of all-time. It helped him win the 1983 WSOP holding just a Get out of Jail Free Monopoloy card, and a green #4 card from the game UNO, against an AAA KK flop and his rival folding AK after Chuck raised him ALL-IN

Okay so I've just watched a rerun of the games. My impressions:

Game 1:
Boxer was clearly winning but probably got a tad overconfident after killing bottom-left (iirc?). He noticed Pusan's 5 main expo a bit too late and despite dealing some decent damage with gols, didn't take the one or two more expoes that would have assured him a win later. Pusan had a great defense anyway and didn't do any real mistake here, so he deserved it. Good and close game.

Game 2:
Pusan just pwned Boxer bad, no contest here. Reaver/zealots perfect drops while taking 3 expos and then sending 251561468484 ground troops in when Boxer was about to take his second one, that was a rape. Would have been another story if Boxer had at least one more turret in his main though. The only one he had was clearly not in the best position.

Game 3:
Well, for sure Pusan's choice of going 3 gates after taking the lead early was a contestable choice. But man, Boxer made a splendid comeback. He wasn't *that* behind anyway imho, his scvs/marine defense was priceless and he didn't lose that many scvs. Then he attempted an early expand (which was his only hope of making a comeback), scared Pusan a bit with a successful little push, took his second expo while displaying awesome defense in desperate-looking situations (thanks to well placed supply depots blocking the way to tanks along with scv micro) and then started pushing at the PERFECT timing, in other words JUST before Pusan's third and fourth expos' eco could kick in. This was a great comeback imho, almost as good as the one vs Rock. Excellent micro, excellent decisions.

Game 4:
Pusan did pretty good with an early reaver drop (not nearly as much damage as in game 2 though). A little while later, Boxer once again pulled a perfectly timed push after noticing Pusan was trying to double expand. Pusan got steamrolled over, I'd say as bad as Boxer was in game 2, and in a similar way as when he beat Reach two weeks ago.

Game 5:
Honestly I wonder where all the fuss about that game comes from. To me it was a long, good and close game and it didn't seem like *at all* that Boxer was fucking around with 10k or something at the end. He was securing a victory that was only clear for the last 6-7 minutes of the game. At the beginning it looked good for Boxer who was successfully defending against everything (even though he lost quite a lot of goliaths in a failed early drop), but in the middle of the game it wasn't that obvious. Although Boxer kept winning 95% of the battles, Pusan's macro was clearly better, and to me it looked like he was slowly taking the edge. But Boxer kept pulling perfect defense moves and right when Pusan finally switched to carriers, the emperor started wraiths right away and killed the first 3 carriers that were threatening his (crucial) center expo. Pusan countered wraiths with corsairs but then Boxer recountered with valkyries. In the end Pusan's expos were mining out while Boxer was securing top right, and from then Boxer just had to secure his win by defending against the carriers. Great game imho, and way closer than I thought when reading the reports.

In short, a great series. Clearly different from an Oov vs Reach though. Boxer never had a really massive amount of units for the whole series, but displayed his trademark micro/defense/timing/never-give-up skills to earn a well-deserved spot in the grand finals. This said, Pusan's play was godly and I have absolutely 0 doubt he'll win a big leage very soon.

This is why I like you PoP as a live reporter and poster. You actually took the time to watch the games yourself, after they were played this time, and analyzed what each player did and gave each of them due credit where ever it was deserved. None of this "player a outplayed player b but still lost" or "he won/lost due to map imbalance". You make a sincere attempt to sound unbiased and present the games as how they were played. Thank you.
