For one Mind had seen Horang's army and where they were because of mines while Snow had no idea where Stats' army was at all and had just moved in at the best timing possible, whether you call that luck or not is up to you.

Second, Horang SAW all those goliaths and still didn't pull back for several seconds, costing him way more carriers than he should've lost while Stats pretty much instantly pulled back the moment those dragoons appeared and yet still wasn't fast enough.

While Stats could've definitely prevented it by not moving his shuttle at the same time as his other control groups as the shuttle is way faster, you can't say luck wasn't on Snow's side when he went in. But Horang just basically crumpled under the pressure after setting off all those mines and just wasn't paying attention at all.
