I was so, so incredibly thrilled to see this wonderful news open up with that. This is a great event and I am very much thankful for those who made this event possible. That being said, I just wish to remind everybody of that very first line. BW is something wonderful and the foreign community is also something very precious. I wish everybody could realize, that in order to have fun and prosper we need to set aside our differences - yet in almost every BW forum there is strife. I'm not an experienced player or a veteran community member, nor do I know much about the circumstances of this current issue of banning Scan from tournaments, but if the main reasoning is excessive BM, that just sounds so incredibly ironic from Game himself. Yes, Scan has an immature, arrogant, repulsing personality but as far as I know he is pretty much the only person who records his FPVODs and shares that with the community. (And no, from a beginners point of view, who wishes to improve his skill, it doesn't really matter whether he does that just to brag or not.) There are only a few streamers left, and most of the people who stream their play aren't very skilled. Scan is obviously a very good player, one that we could arguably consider a member of the foreign scene. I strongly believe that if the community wishes to survive, and wishes to do so in a manner that is worth something, we should start focusing on collaborating more. With the top foreign players leaving, we have to value every really good player more than ever. We may have to put up with more things than before, but isn't it worth it? Isn't BW worth it? We shouldn't drive our top players away, reading blogs like Belladona's just makes me so said. No, we should be able to discuss our problems, and learn to tolerate each other. Every member of the community is very valuable now. We don't have the luxury to just ban people anymore - that should only be a last resort. We now should treat each other with more care, teach each other about the correct ways of behaviour. Perhaps if somebody had a talk with Scan, the problems could be resolved. He is quite young after all - maybe a good talk is all he needs. We need to act intelligent and learn to resolve our problems here. And I really don't just mean that in this current case (of which, again, I have very little knowledge). The same goes for everything else, really. I was shocked to hear the admins leaving ICCup and it's sad to see how the hatred steams towards ICCup. Again, I'm not knowledgeable on the subject, but was it really that unresolvable? Perhaps yes, perhaps with a little more patience and faith the problems could have been solved (at least, solved in a slightly better way). All I'm trying to say here, that every person here realizes that BW is something great. We all want to see the foreign scene prosper, and a little bit more patience, tolerance and better communication could really go a long way here. Take, for example, Game himself. He is perhaps the most influential person in foreign BW - the man who has done the most for this community as of recently (even if you disagree, you *have* to agree he has done a lot for us). He again is a very controversial person himself - and some community members rightfully feel repulsed by his behaviour and bad manners. I myself have been raged on in the stream the other day for a comment which was meant not to be offensive in any way, and the explanation was that he was sorry, he was tired and needed to rage on somebody. Things like that, banning people from the stream for little reason really discourages participation in what I feel is something very valuable. Yet again, Game is a person that I respect, because despite his flaws - which all of us have -, he has done, and is doing the most incredible job here. Perhaps if people could learn to appreciate that, perhaps if we could criticize in a constructive fashion, without the hatred, things would definitely go better. I am sorry for rambling on like that and I am sorry for derailing the thread quite a bit. I do, however, strongly feel that this needed to be said, perhaps this was not the best place to do it, but I did need to get this out of my system and I also hope that some people will actually give these concepts a thought. Again, thank you for thsoe who made this awesome tournament possible, I wish all the players the best of luck, the viewers the best of time, GL HF all everybody! edit1: typos and such | ||

However, with the way the broodwar side currently is people are right to be concerned. If you exclude a member that only further hurts it, instead of help promote it. Further more to address Shade[AoV]: Not to sound like a bitch but ANYONE can host their own tournament. Hell if I had the $200 I would do it. I just ran a tournament last weekend. So please don't make it sound like you guys are pulling out all the stops for a tournament. I really don't mean to sound rude or anything, but a tournament is not that hard as long as the person hosting has the experience, the streams, the casters and a decent place to post the brackets + the right publicity. So please don't throw it out there like its something impossible. You know what, I will even say right here that if I can raise the money/get the sponsors, then I personally will host a tournament where NO ONE from the broodwar tournament will be excluded. With that I am done typing here. By the way Game, sorry for bringing it up. However it seems bitter sweet how karma is towards people sometimes. I would suggest considering your actions and responses a little more, before you decide to react on them. | ||

I am trying to help keep the broodwar community alive. I spent 2 years of my life, doing nothing more then giving back to the broodwar community as an active iccup admin. Constantly doing something. While I have also done things in Sc2, I have never completely left the broodwar scene and refuse to because of my love for it. You do this for all the wrong reasons. You should be running these to give back, not to feel in power. With that, I think we will not be speaking again as the sheer thought of how you treat members of this community, makes me sick to my stomach.
