Apparently baby only had minefields and at 12 a non-cc building, so no mining base. Shuttle fled to 3 full bases at 789, so had a better econ. Baby should have pressured more after he took down the carriers perhaps?
Wow. Serious props to Shuttle for sticking it out and winning.
That game was constant action. It certainly wasn't excellently played, but those long epics rarely are.
EDIT: I think I'd chalk the battles in the middle up to Shuttle bringing in huge amounts of zealots while a lot of the vultures were out of position jockeying around the map to snipe templars. After Shuttle secured the natural at the bottom right he was way ahead in terms of controlled minerals. The battle outside that nat was really close.
This comeback wasn't THAT epic. Shuttle had a large bank anyway and with that many gateways, any protoss could have pumped out a lot of units. After that, Baby just got caught out of position several times or he didn't really care, i dont know :S Looks like Baby didn't do anything after taking down those 3 expos.
I honest to god do not know where all these units where coming from....they were streaming in like from a parallel universe where shuttle had already taken the whole map
I thought Baby had mining bases from the whole right side once he stormed Shuttle's main, but maybe not. And maybe Shuttle had a ton of minerals and gas stored up because he was able to reestablish a huge base at 7 in no time, then pump zealots for the next five minutes. Baby was slow to transition to vulture from goliaths and never got a good army going after a few huge battles that wiped him out.
Baby definitely got cocky and instead of using his full map control and taking over the map he tried to kill off Shuttle with what he had, underestimated Shuttle's macro/micro and lost all his troops there to storms plus the 4 mine daebak.
After that Shuttle got back decent bit of map control and got 3 bases easy and the macro kicked in.
UPS logo was blocking the corner of the minimap so I though for about 20 min "why is shuttle even here? just gg already" and then " WTF WHERE DID THAT ARMY COME FROM! Ahh, he cant win anyway" and then he just won. I don't think I could pick a point where Shuddle went from losing to winning, but I will say that I think his comeback was dependent on the storm+ minedrag on 4 tanks
Shuttle evened that game by some really great storms (great because baby clumped his tanks...) while his last carriers were dying. He started getting ahead when he secured 3 fresh expansions while Baby was mining out, and great macro won the game from there.
