Game 1 shows an epic comeback by winner, definitely recommended. Game 2 shows really High Level TvZ, great multitask by winner, great defense by loser, definitely recommended
don't bother watching the rest

ggaemo mostly to blame because he (1) doesn't have his natural saturated, (2) responded nicely with his hydras, and (3) free's reaction and decision times were slooowwwww....
Protoss can get up to four bases fairly easily here, hence why ggaemo flirted with drops for so long. But that fifth base really seems to be an issue. This map is going to take ZvP to the late game every time.

I meant it as Woongjin opens the season the with a win.

Secretly yes. But don't tell anyone outside of this thread.

You do realize the other game is KT vs SKT right?
The two teams with the largest fanbases?
its SKT1 1st and CJ 2. last time I checked Even though alot prolly switched to KT, lol. I remember I picked my sign up when they didnt make playoffs then they dominated everything next season :D

I always felt like CJ had less fans than KT because KT has Flash.

Considering the uncertainty and late notice surrounding this new season it isn't really surprising that ACE vs Woonjin didnt draw that many fans to the studio. I'm sure it will improve.

Well when estro played ACE last season there were even fewer pple.
The announcement for proleague's start came pretty late too.

BO7 may be good for ACE as the emphasis on a top tier star player is lessen.
So Oz will suck now.
But unfortunately, Stars is currently one of the deepest teams out there.
Wow! Excellent goon micro from M18M. I'm actually pretty impressed from a nearly noname player. Clearing mines, sniping tanks, almost no losses, Piano is in very bad shape, expo cancelled!

Isn't M18M the guy who stopped Flash on WL? He is a beast vT.

Well I guess I'm biaised, since he stopped him quite dead, but with mass dts. That game gained some fame back then. But aside from that, I don't remember seeing him play a lot of games, last season that is.

Well, I think his record speaks for itself. Even if it only is around 10 games. GG
No! Failed split against irradiate, all mutas almost dead. Yellow out of Really's main and nat. Really taking his nat, Yellow only have 2 bases, it's looking grim now.
On October 16 2010 15:16 ShadeR wrote: Those mutas T.T
Did nothing....
Seriously....
Should have taken third, and gone for hive.
Also, he spent too much time trying to kill those units in Really's nat. I think he could have just pushed with all those lurkers right before tank came out.
Did he just get eliminated... lol that was an awesome base trade kinda thing going on.... if Gorush defended his base with lings + drones wouldn't he have won though? Sorry was busy watching the other game ><
wait so what happened at the end? my stream buffered at the worst moment =.= did the person with mutas win or did the one with the lings take it? also why didn't the person with just a lair throw down an extractor with one of the drones?
On October 16 2010 15:38 Shinshady wrote: if Gorush defended his base with lings + drones wouldn't he have won though? Sorry was busy watching the other game ><
I don't know if he could have defended, but the diminished lings number could have been determining in gaining a definite edge I think. Did he have enough money to spout a creep colony or anything on Zero's creep ?
On October 16 2010 15:39 Apex wrote: Puzzled why GoRush just didn't split some of his muta forces or quickly build an extractor in a random part of the map asap.
Don't know the whole situation so I can't make such a sweeping judgment but...
might have had no money, he ran all his drones as soon as lings got in the main
edit - looks like he was running drones to zero's main for sunkens?
On October 16 2010 15:42 oBlade wrote: Commentators laughing at 45 minerals, so it should be obvious why he didn't stop himself being eliminated
Yeah, that's why they had that last pair of zerglings being morphed selected so long. They were expecting him to cancel it so he could afford and extractor
edit: @duke extractors are 50 minerals, this isn't SC2

This is sadness. Well, we're quite used to seeing ACE losing by such a narrow margin it'd have to be razor-sharped, but those three losses were so close at times...it'll be painful if they don't make it. Really.
On October 16 2010 15:42 Apex wrote: Never mind replay shows 45 mins. Still doesn't explain the muta split though.
In general it's a bad way of thinking when you say you've spotted a gaping flaw in a progamer's decision making and can't find any way to explain it. Instead, try to brainstorm. GoRush lost his nat hatch to zerglings while winning an air battle. If he had split his mutalisks then, he wouldn't have had enough in either group to kill the zerglings and counter Zero's base.

When people wake up and check the results, they will be like "oh, this is exactly what we expected from ACE" and go on with their daily lives.
Sadly, they won't know how close, how ridiculously close that ACE was to sweeping this entire thing 4-0 or 4-1.
Yes, ACE aren't only Starcraft's history (museum? Na, ain't no mothballs yet), they're also history's forgotten heroes, sacrificed on the victors' altar. But thou shalt not be forgotten, ACE! Fighting~

Well hey, at least they're not getting rolled 4-0. I remember when they couldn't win a game for the longest time...
If you remember they ended last season with a 5 wins streak, which was a quite impressive feat for them, so I guess everyone had high hopes. ACE have this habit of losing either 0-3 or 2-3 with really close games, I guess it's no different from usual after all, but still, I wanted to believe.

Can I ask something in general from now on? Can we stop saying "Don't bother watching..."
This is BW, this may be the last season we have. All of these players are skilled and some of the lower level play involves things you'd never see in highest level play just because...well, "shit don't work" like that at their level. It keeps things interesting and it's nice to see a player rise up. Some of Zeros games have been downright pathetic to watch but it was interesting seeing him come from a game like that to one where he shows his true skill. That's just an example but I think any BW fan will know what I mean
I mean, I don't know, maybe it's fine for people who don't know what else is going on and just want to pop in for a quick BW game but I've never been disappointed in any game and you can learn a lot from them all.
Maybe it just comes off as pessimistic to me in a time when we certainly don't need any more of it but that's just my .02.
Otherwise, thank you as always for making the thread and these were incredible games last night.

GG New Season. GG.
While I do understand your point, people who are reading the recommended games section are usually just looking for the nice games, thus even if it is the last season of BW(though I'm thinking it will last a bit longer then that), I can't really recommend Really's bunker rush or M18M vs PianO even though there may be things to learn from these games
thanks for feedback
oh and sorry for the many mistakes I made in OP over last night guys >_<

If you are a Khan fanboy, you'd hug game three in which M18M dismantled Piano not once, but TWICE due to a rematch after a MBC technical issue (what else is new?).
If you have any respect for the two old Zerg legends...don't watch the next two...Yellow and Gorush HAD IT. They gained such an overwhelming advantage that they SHOULD NOT have lost. But they made the most...I dunno...
Anyhow, I think this match was actually a very good display of power from ACE, despite the result. Ggaemo, Yellow and Gorush all came extremely close to winning, in Yellow and especially Gorush's cases....

His one base lurker worked and was able to contain Really inside his main. If Yellow expanded to third and tech to hive like any standard Zerg player out there, he could have had it.

I counted 13 drones during the game, he did not have the econ to keep up the contain, take a 3rd and tech to hive
