As good as Reach is, I somehow don't feel the same reckless intensity and passion from him that I felt when he won it all in SKY 2002, altho by most accounts he's a better player now than he was back then.
I've always said, it's not just skill that wins you the championship (skill is a givens) - it's drive and passion. I see some serious hunger in July. In fact, he's worn his ambition on his sleeve throughout this tournament - but not many bothered to see it. Until now of course.
Look for July to take the Gillette final and finally (FINALLY!) end the Zerg championship drought. Man, what a story this guy is.

You should consider the fact that Reach has been in the top 20 (maybe top 10) since he won the starleague, he doesnt give up and is always among the top protoss players... he obviously has this "drive" you speak of.
But I mostly like his style because he uses unorthodox builds yet plays extremely well no matter what build he uses, like when he won that pvp on paradoxx using dark archons to steal carriers, or when he beat nada by taking a gas exp and going carriers on nostalgia and stopping his vultures with 2 goon blockades on the middle.

Origin - I appreciate that you're a Reach fan, but stop patronizing me in the process. You haven't even met Reach and spoken with his practice partners and coaches, so what the hell do you know about what *I mean by "drive."
Well it's only natural that you will be most driven to win your first. That's why everyone without exception slumps after winning that big one they've been chasing for years.

Agreed. That's why I usually vote for the newcomers, rather than the old-timers. I had hopes for Niza, since a 2 year break could really create a hunger for the game, but we haven't heard of him lately.
I'm not utterly impressed by July. The games vs iloveoov showed that he can play very good, but dreadfully bad as well (his losses on Mercury and Requiem). I might be wrong, since it's probably no coincidence that he had won iTV recently. Time will tell. As for now I don't see him as a machine, like NaDa for example (my absolute favourite when it comes to consistency).

I realize you are not a very open-minded person. It seems my different point of view somehow upset you.
I know nothing of Reach's drive and nowadays he always looks incredibly calm and controlled when he plays. However, there was something about his actual play in game five that reminded me of 2002.
I think July must go into the final as favourite, however.

I disagree...First of all, I find unconventional play to be the most interesting and secondly, I'm impressed that Control made that strat work...
But I think game 5 is being hyped too much. It was fucking great don't get me wrong, but the luck factor played a huge role. Poor Control...got owned by his own mines. 12 units for 1 zeal is a bad trade...haha
Common now Reach, you best not pull a Boxer and lose to a peon like July.
However, I find it kinda sad, because I think iloveoov vs. Reach would be a better match up.

Just before I get flamed...put this comment into perspective...I'm not saying July sucks...I'm just saying that Reach has a more destinguished past and is therefore the king of the castle...
bah...whatever...you'll all hate on my oov loving ass anyways...

Nope. Read my response again - but before that, read what you originally wrote first.
