Kal was economically behind from all those reaver losses. Kal didn't realize he needed to do some major damage if he wanted to win, he couldn't play straight up with JD on equal bases. But this is an example of how good JD is, one simple mistake and your toast.

Yep i gotta agree here. Even if JD didn't scout it and didnt get burrow, judging by his reaction time the rest of the game (running drones, shutting down harass) i doubt Kal would've done enough damage to compensate for his sair/reaver build.

So, during interview JD just basically said he practiced both games hard and that losing the second game didn't really mean much (like how he always says this). He congratulates Kal for preparing well and for very well played games. He also said that he practiced with a concrete mindset this MSL so fans should look forward.

Perhaps it's due to JD's defeat to Bisu's Corsair/Reaver that he was able to improve this time around to handle the build. IIRC, JD didn't have burrow on that match.
