My question is, what hotkeys do you use? Do you think a 1-5 hatch 6-0 unit hotkey would work? I really just need a setup that keeps the first few hotkeys as hatcheries, because I can be flexible on the others. Should I start my unit hotkeys at 0 and go to 6, or start from 6 and go towards 0?

edit: if I already won and I have the entire map micro isn't needed anymore and I put all my hotkeys on hatcheries and put a rally point in front of my opponent's base :o

If I need too much hotkeys (usually when you have large number of lings), I hotkey important units, such as lurkers/hydras/ultras, and just attack move the lings ;o

Anyway, surely you can see the purpose of hotkeys being remapped to letter keys. So that instead of one long horizontal bar of hotkeys to choose from, they instead form a bracket around your hand. 1-4 wouldnt need changing, their distance is already perfect. But to have 5-0 be mapped directly under your hand would be find & dandy like sour candy.

BTW, I told somebody my hotkeys and he says BlackMan uses them, is this true?

Btw, dont forget the function keys! F2-F4 can be used to hotkey map locations, like where all your hatcheries are and stuff.

1-3 units 4-8 hatcheries 9-0 lurkers/secondary units (such as scourge) I like lurkers on 9-0, as they are close to U (burrow), and I just move them with right click (P for patrol is close as well). The only units I can't reach without making my hand move too much are Queens (no loss), and Overlords (not a big deal, as I'm never making a lot from multiple hatcheries at a time). Heres how I finger the rest (T=thumb I=index M=middle R=ring P=pinky) The numbers 4-8 I always press with I. S for select larva I always press with R. D (drone) with M Z (zergling) with P H (hydra) with I (it seems like this would be slow, as you press the unit hotkey with the same finger as the hotkeyed hatch, but this seems to be one of the easiest ones for me) S (scourge) R M (mutalisk) T U (ultralisk) I (sometimes I only do this with 5-8, as sometimes I can be inaccurate going from 4 to U with my Index finger quickly while not looking at the keyboard) F (defiler) M or I (if I use M, sometimes I will only use 5-8, cus 4 is a tad awkward; if I use I, sometimes I will only use 4-7, for the same reason I dont use 4 when doing U for ultras) With some practice in notepad I was able to do all of those fast without looking fairly easily.

I'll keep my early game lings to 1 until I get lurkers. Regardless of what unit mix I have out on the map, 1 is always reserved for lurkers if I have them. 5-9 Hatcheries. 0 - I use this as my "action" hotkey. My first scouting overlord gets bound to 0 as does my scouting drone. If I send a drone out to a expo I'll put it on 0, so when it arrives I can flip to it easily and build. Any sort of scout, caster unit, or anything I have a short-term special need for I'll temporarily stick it on 0.
