"I believe I will have to win more titles from now on"
- It's been a while since you have won a title. ▲ 1 Year and 5 months to be exact, and yes it has been a long time since. I played poorly in individual leagues and it makes me happy that I've won today. Alot of players who started around the same time as me has won alot of titles, and now I want to catch up and eventually surpass them.
- You failed to achieve a perfect score ▲ It is sad I couldn't get a perfect score, but I think what's more important is that I've won and I tried really hard. When I lost set 1 was very shocked, but I got over it.
- Your defense is amazing. How do you defend so well? ▲ Your eyes and senses have to be sharp. You have to know how fast your enemy troops will arrive and how fast you reinforce your base. I guess my sharp sense allow me to defend better.
- What set do you think was the most challenging? ▲ To be honest with you, my personal opinion was set 1. I lost in such a depressing fashion that I was shocked, but it allowed me to prepare for the next 4 games. Fortunately, the match ended at the 4th game so it turned out fine.
- How did you prepare for the GOMTV Final? ▲ I've prepared for 3 weeks. Excluding the days I've been playing the Grand Final Event match, I've been only practicing this final. Alot of the terrans in my team are very good players, and the aggressive style fOrGG helped me alot. Leta also helped me practice my final, and before I came to the stadium and the finals started, fantasy helped prepare until the last minute. I would like to say thank you to all of them.
(T/N) Fantasy has been helping Flash since the Grand Finals ended. Talk about great friendship.
- You seem to be very close with Leta and fantasy ▲ Both hyungs helped me alot. The only players I've practiced with whom are outside the team are leta and fantasy. I've practiced with the 2 greatest terrans, so I believed I was able to win.
- Because of your poor performance in Individual leagues, you must've been stressed out quite alot. But you won today so you should be relieved ▲ No. I've won a title way too late and I am not satisfied with this one win. I need to win more to catch up, and next time I will try even harder.
- So how will you spend your days now? ▲ Our team is currently playing the STX Cup, and I wish we can win so I can take a break. Since I won today, I will now appear in the STX cup. Our coach really helped me out, so I think it's about time I repay back the debt and start playing for him more often. We (our team) will practice hard and try winning the STXcup
- How will you spend your prize money? ▲ I will have a feast with my team. Also, I've promised the people who have been helping me outside the team a huge meal so I have to buy them too. I guess I'll give the rest to my parents.
- Alot of people are saying your poor individual league performance is because of your predictable style. ▲ I want to change the way I play too, but as a progamer it is so hard to change something you have been doing for years. I will prepare new types of cheeses in hopes of changing my style. If I think back on it, due to my win at such an early age I think I got too cocky to believe I don't need to change to become better. I will change so my weaknesses will not be as obvious and become a better player.
- Last words? ▲ It's been 17 months since I won something and I am sorry to my fans who've waited for it for so long. I know you all have been looking at me with hope when I did good in proleague, only to fail your expectations over and over again. From now on, I will make sure I will not only be good at proleague, but also indiv leagues and become one of the best.
Really nice interview, I respect this guy more and more each day tbh. He had quite a dreamteam training-squad though to be honest Thanks for the very fast translation!

So good to see Flash winning the tournament. That kid truly deserved it and he wasn't kidding when he said it was a lil too late winning a title. He needs to win more. Also, I truly do hope that they open up another dream match between Jaedong and Flash. That would be fucking epic.. well, the last time they met in the Finals, it wasn't pretty, but other than that anytime these 2 titans clash, it just produces nothing but epic waves of Starcraft history.

Hey, thnx for the translation, but just wanted to point out this part of the interview, the translation is wrong. The question should be "What set was the most challenging one?"
Sry if I sounded picky. Just wanted to straighten that out (plus, I want to be a tl.net translator after college entrance)
I will prepare new types of cheeses in hopes of changing my style
Lol, looking forward to that. Flash's cheeses are always awesome, he should do it more often.
Thanks for translating!
Yeah, and since no one expects it nowadays, his cheeses are extra effective. Just compare Hiya vs Flash on Medusa, where Flash almost holds the cheese off, and then Flash vs Iris, where Iris gets so shocked that he lifts his main CC.

Haha, overkill is the right word. But even then, it seems that not even Fantasy or Leta were good enough to devise the 2 proxy fac into 3 fac goliath push with dropship (someone make a Liquipedia page for that) -- the first TvT build that not even Flash can withstand!

Wouldn't it be "which set was the most critical"? Like a turning point or something that he had to overcome? It's a subtle difference.

Nah. Critical is 중요한. 고비 is more like... challenge? a difficulty to overcome? something along those lines.

FlaSh is seriously so humble. It's very mature of him to realize his own flaws especially when it comes to his own cockiness and such. I'm so happy that he won this. GoGo FlaSh!
On a side note, damnnnn... FlaSh has the connections. Leta and Fantasy as close friends and training partners = the win.
Haha, Flash is still all about food. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to hopefully seeing cheesy Flash again. I loved watching cheesy Flash play. Now he's quite boring and mechanical that it's meh.
Sucks to have been Iris. Flash hogged the two best terrans not named himself as practice partners.
Iris probably practiced with Skyhigh who is also great at TvT. He 2-0ed Leta in playoffs and just look at his TvT record. So at least Iris had some help but it's still FvT.
Well if Fantasy and Leta helped him practice, no wonder he took the rest of the games pretty convincingly, I mean those 3 are like the pretty much the kings of TvT these days (and maybe skyhigh can be like a queen of tvt ^_^).
He lost one game in the whole tournament, as far as I know.
The WHOLE tournament. From the round of like 256 or whatever. Holy shit.
"Since I won today, I will now appear in the STX cup."
KT's opponents are freaking out now.
re: fantasy and Leta, it's a two-way trade. They're the best possible practice partners Flash can get, sure, but his TvT is the best in the world - the other two Terrans could do worse than to learn from him.
I think it's pretty cool the top player of each race all won a gom tv once. It's almost like it's fate.
Also he's not humble at all hahaha what are you guys talking about. He rated Iris' chance to win 0/10. Which I agree with, but this guy knows how to be cocky.

if he was cocky he would've been training with Piano and CuteAngel, not Leta and Fantasy

actually he didn't win that many games, he was seeded in round 64 or 32 , but still very impressive!

lol.. have you ever thought why skyhigh has such a strong TvT in the first place? O u nabs.
Wow very interesting..... thanks for the translations Mr Hoon!!!
But yea, I like how this was overkill right here, Fantasy AND Leta helping Flash out, the best possible top terrans atm when Iris probably got anyone lesser than these guys (Skyhigh is good but not exactly the better compared to Fantasy and leta and Flash in tvt....). Well props and congrats to Flash winning a title for such a long time.....
Interesting and funny how Flash mentions food once more in the interviews :D
Season 1 winner - Jaedong Season 2 winner - Bisu Season 3 winner - Flash
pretty interesting that in 3 seasons we have had the top players from each race win back to back. (flash obvioulsy more arguable than the others though.)
To bad SK1 doesn't want to support GOM....otherwise we could have another special match, current champ vs. previous champ. Just like last time.

Flash more arguable?! Not only is that not obviouls, it's scandalous. Flash won the Gom Invitational too, which was basically season 0.5. He did it while winning an OSL, which Bisu has never done. Then Bisu lost the special match too, so if there were to be another one it would make sense to have it be Flash vs Jaedong anyways.
Regardless, nice interview. Thanks for translating.
Thanks for an awesome translation as always MrHoon!!
By the way guys, watch Skyhigh demolish Leta twice on Shades and crush Fantasy on it as well. Skyhigh is also the last player to beat Flash "straight up" (a game on Carthage, whereas Flash's losses to Iris and Hiya were both due more to brilliant builds/cheeses). Skyhigh does have a couple of questionable losses in TvT (then again Fantasy < Lomo on Shades???) recently but the dude is definitely a beast and in my opinion he's #2. So it's not that imbalanced actually.
I'd say top 5 TvTers right now are:
1. Flash (JvZ, FvT ... BvP is probably deserved too) 2. Skyhigh 3. Fantasy 4. Leta (only because Fantasy won their last encounter and he got destroyed by Skyhigh in PL ... I think lategame skillwise Leta might be #2) 5. Iris? Light? FBH? Canata? Hard to say here.
Anyway I'm really excited to see Flash potentially mix up his style. His late game is so insanely good that hopefully he can figure out ways to get there through harassing and other aggressive plays, instead of the current ultra-passive style which allows his opponent to custom-tailor builds against him. The fact that he recognized he needs to mix up his style is BY FAR the best news of the day (even better than winning GOM, haha).

Well, Flash is debatably not #1 Terran. Fantasy has been a superior individual league player lately no doubt, though everyone seems to forget that Fantasy's TvT is slightly overrated, and his TvZ has some major holes if you don't let him play his build.

Flash Individual League Gold: 1 Fantasy Individual League Gold: 0 (not counted GOM cause Fantasy can't win there)

About time he won another title. However I think some of his fans can't still be satisfied due to the fact he didn't beat a big name like JaeDong or Effort.

Food, Parents, and Starcraft is all Flash thinks about.
In that order. The guy is ALWAYS talking about food.

How is it that suddenly Effort is a big name and Flash is the one with something to prove?
- Because of your poor performance in Individual leagues, you must've been stressed out quite alot. But you won today so you should be relieved ▲ No. I've won a title way too late and I am not satisfied with this one win. I need to win more to catch up, and next time I will try even harder.
I read this in a generic anime-like swordsman voice.
"You must be really satisfi-" "NO! I MUST WIN MORE! ONLY THEN CAN I DEFEAT MY FATHER!"

I want to see a Flash v. Jaedong special event so badly right now! We all know how a couple months ago it seemed like most good Zergs were tearing Flash apart with early pressure, and although he's had a great recent TvZ record, it's hard to tell if he's truly recovered his vZ grace until he fights someone like Jaedong in a BoX again.
Well what they should do actually is Flash should play Bisu, and then the winner should play JD. But that won't happen because of the SKT1-Kespa-Blizzard-Gom issues =(

What's your reasoning behind that?
Well just that they've each won one season of GOM, and that JD beat Bisu in the first "winner's showdown", so as his reward he gets seeded into the final match and Flash and Bisu play for the chance to play him.
But of course I wouldn't mind seeing just JD-Flash which is probably what will happen anyway.
id like to see adapt an aggressive style. He maintains such good macro even against other aggressive players... i bet he could wreck some noobs if he would play ballerterran.

iirc there was a phase where Flash started changing up to be an aggressive player
BUt after being buttraped by Stork and Fantasy in PL, he stopped
Hopefully this can put to rest that "no one practices for GOM it doesn't even count" bull shit that pops up everytime jaedong / bisu / whoever loses too.

And now we know why his mom is always so ecstatic when he wins events, she's getting the prize money, haha.
Thanks for the translation MrHoon, and congratulations to Flash for winning this tourney. Iris was his first tough opponent.

Well of course it's BS to use such extremes, but the fact remains that GOM is the least prestigious major Korean tourney and thus players consistently prioritize it below their other league obligations.
