Air Force ACE's Coach Yoo Sung Yeul - "If we can adjust to the new maps well, we can win at least half of our matches."
[Fomos = Reporter Shim Hyeon] As the opening day draws nearer, more worries build up...

"We will definitely be different from Round 4 onwards."

Air Force ACE's coach Yoo Sung Yeol said that his team is currently in great shape, but as the opening day draws closer, he is getting more worried. After going through intra-ranking competition within our 7-player team, he realised that there will be many difficulties. However, he added that everyone is very determined and is practicing hard, and the team's atmosphere is currently very positive, possibly the best since the creation of the team.

Their aim is to "display a soldiers' strong will and mindset, and by sending out carefully chosen players for Round 4, hope to show a new, different image of the ACE team". The coach also revealed that "if (they) can adjust to the new maps well, they will be able to win at least half of their games."

The following is the interview with Coach Yoo.

- With the opening day coming up, what is the team's current mood and atmosphere?
▲ Our team is doing great, but with the opening day coming out, we're getting slightly worried. After going through intra-ranking competition within our 7-player team, we realised that there will be many difficulties. But everyone is very determined and is practicing hard, and the team's atmosphere is currently very positive, possibly the best since the creation of the team.

- We are greatly looking forward to the day (Z)GoRush and (T)XellOs will play.
▲ It will be slightly difficult for GoRush to make an appearance in the first week, but it might be possible in week two. Xellos is currently undergoing military training, so it'll be impossible for him to join us in this month, and I think he will be able to join us somewhere in the middle of May.

- Your team is comprised of players who performed exceptionally well in the past.
▲ It feels like a brand new start for them, who joins us after undergoing the military training. That makes them feel the same when they first made their debut, and that is giving them a lot of confidence and motivation, and the new recruits are practicing really hard. Especially (Z)YellOw. Anytime had said that "it was his 'first time he had seen someone practice even harder than Jaedong." That is how much hope we have pinned on the new recruits, and they are contributing positively to improving the team's mood.

- If you had to point out any weak match ups or weaknesses...
▲ I wonder if it is the 'soldiers' will and mindset'. But it is something that cannot be helped. The lack of players is a very serious issue. We have so little members that it is difficult for us to practice with each other. I think that that is something that we cannot make up for, no matter how prepared we are, or how much effort we put in. I think that when you compare our team with the other Pro-gaming teams, that is something we lack in - hence our weakness.

- Any special player you have high expectations for Round 4?
▲ (P)Anytime is already performing well, and so is (P)Reach. Together with Reach, the most hopeful player is of course, YellOw. First of all, his game sense is amazing, and has been practicing the hardest in the team, and once he gets adjusted to playing on the stage, I believe that he will perform even better than before. Also, his fellow teammates have been praising him a lot.

- Any anticipations to the upcoming Round 4?
▲ After becoming the team's coach, I feel that I have now set the foundations well enough to display our true capabilities. I want to display the soldiers' strong will and mindset, and by sending out carefully chosen players for Round 4, I hope to show a new, different image of the ACE team.

- Any specific targets?
▲ We lost a lot in Round 1 and 2, and even though we might have been all-killed in the Winner's League, we did not lose 0:4, not even once. From Round 4 onwards, it will be totally different. As long as we get adjusted to the new maps well, we will definitely be able to win at least half of our matches.

- Any words for your fans?
▲ I am grateful for all the fans who have been supporting us. We will try our best to win many games and hold fan meetings. Your support is our greatest strength. We look forward to your unwavering support and encouragement.

A lot of repeats in this interview.. but nonetheless, enjoy! Also, just to check, 5할 means 'top 5' right? I can't find a proper meaning for this... Thanks joohyunee!

We lost a lot in Round 1 and 2, and even though we might have been all-killed in the Winner's League, we did not lose 0:4, not even once.

Wow, alot of positive remarks about YellOw's potential.

Also surprised at the fact that they-apparently-are one of the teams who didn't get "all-killed" in the Winner's League.

They did, just that not in a horrible 0:4 way.

I mean I guess they'll probably do better than they have been, but they need more members badly and these guys just can't compete with the newer players

But the problem is, the newer players' average age is getting younger and younger, so this 'generation gap' will continue to increase.

It sounds like they need practice partners more than anything. Being stuck having to practice with the same seven people can be tough, especially if one of their team members are busy. You hear that players from other teams help out each other for the star leagues, something that ACE players can't take advantage of being in the army. That said I think ACE can go really far this round, they certainly have proven players.

Thanks for the translation, konadora!

As for ACE... they just go on iccup, don't they? I mean, that's better than constantly playing against the same people I suppose...

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing ACE this round... GO ROKAF!

Casy was good in the winner's league format when you could put him up against a zerg. In the proleague it'll be harder to get him up against a zerg.

I don't think anyone is really expecting them to win half their matches, but it's always nice to dream a little. Honestly, anything that is better than their round 1 and 2 record of 1-10 would be very nice to see in my eyes. Hell, 3-8 would be amazing and I'd be rather proud of the team.

I find it really ironic that the only problem with ACE is practice partners yet they refuse players such as Rainbow into their team.

yeah seriously considering BoxeR wanted to practice with the SKT T1 C team for lack of better players, you'd think they'd be eager to take a high-profile b-teamer like RainbOw.

why do they have such tight restrictions on who they let on the team? wouldn't it be better to have more people so they could have more practice partners?
