Thanks for the info,
3rd set Rage (Terran) vs. PerfectMan (Protoss)
should be Rage (Protoss) though, unless the Belgian staff member somehow made it to GOM Classic.

I really wish you well Idra! Even though you can be quite the prick, I think we all support you in the end, no matter if you have the mouth of three men.
Now the question remains, would Idra flame tossgirl? :D

Damn, Trap is soooo young. He's like almost as young as BaBy.
As much as I dislike IdrA when he faces foreigner competition, I still have to root for him as the only foreigner currently giving it his all in Korea, so good luck. The maps are all very slightly Protoss favored, so I suspect you'll need it.

Tau Cross, Destination, Andromeda? Hellooooo TvP nightmare.
I have to say, the dumbest thing about the GOM tourneys thus far has got to be their map pools. But I am really impressed with GOM and its sponsors, for getting the next season of this great event started so soon!
Oh well...good luck IdrA!

So the last GOM season, IdrA's games were not televised because he only played in the Ro256? What is the qualification process for the Ro128? It looks like IdrA has already made it further in this tournament than he did last season.
|
|
So we're only getting 2 days of the round of 128 and then right into the round of 64? Last season I'm sure they showed a lot more of the early rounds than that =(. I guess they thought people didn't care about seeing all these no-name people play, but I kind liked watching games from the round of 256 and 128
|
As long as trap doesnt play stupid and fast reaver drop, dt drop, 2 gate, proxy gate, 14 nex or 3 gate, Idras got this.
|
FUCK YEAH GOM ! Another chance for Flash or FBH to prove themselves!
Oh and good luck Idra even though you're a douche most of the time.

For some of us the early rounds are interesting, mostly because of the possibility of IdrA and a few other "novelty" players getting some air time, but I'm sure the majority of their Korean audience isn't interested in watching preliminary-quality games for 3-4 weeks.

Well... her record isn't exactly top notch though, so among progamers its still a kind of humiliation. I thought the spokesperson said they knew what made the fans happy though, and yet we still don't get to see boxer. Odd.

By "128th round," I presume it means "ro128", right? Are they only showing these 8 matches because they think they'll be the best?

Yeah, her record is bad so it would be a big humiliation for Idra the three-time MSL champion to lose to her.
The lack of SKT in these matches kind of makes me wonder..

But BoxeR wasn't seeded last time, and he hasn't really played anything at all since then, so how would his ranking have increased? Unless they just moved him up for the heck of it.

Don't you remember they had the version of Colosseum with the cliff behind the main, and Andromeda as the only two maps for the Ro128. Also one of the days was ACE day, because they couldn't compete on the other days, and GOM isn't stupid enough to miss giving the fans Boxer games.

Adding to this, it is totally a political/corporate decision from their parent companies. The players themselves are really, really desperate to play in this tournament but are held back by their said owners.

The players themselves are really, really desperate to play in this tournament but are held back by their said owners. Yeah, they need a damned players union (not KeSPA) to create some leverage and make sure all the players have equal opportunities. The Classic could be a big source of income for these players and they're getting royally screwed because of the corporate side of things. I know BoxeR and sAviOr sort of brushed on this topic in their "Bonjwa Talk" thing with fomos, and really I can't believe it hasn't already happened since Free Agency is about to take effect soon, which could possibly change a lot of things.
It's really sad that the players have zero voice in league affairs, and seeing as how young many players are its really blatant exploitation in some cases. Of course, whenever the forming/altering these kinds of things there is the inherent risk of a strike/holdout/whatever. :/

I doubt that... IdrA is like... the most unpopular person after Adolf Hitler. He did have a nice beard though... so maybe... nevermind

Seems like he's speaking the truth.

It is Idra's time to show us his skill. Hope he delivers, despite his always cocky/bm attitude...

That's totally sucks... Stupid politics. You can't escape from it anywhere these days.
On the other hand I can't wait for this season. Just wish the map pool will be more balanced this time. So far it looks promising.

The Season 3 winner will earn approx. 40,000 USD. The runner-up will earn approx. 15,000 USD, and the two other players in the top 4 will get approx. 5,000 USD each.
|
I'm hoping that Idra finally gets a win. But not likely, as he's been losing to foreigners and these are koreans pros.
|
i think he will do better vs koreans as they play standard instead of doing random stupid noobie shit.

Does this mean that both Idra and Tossgirl passed the round of 256 or was that round completly scrapped? Anyone knows?

Yeah yeah, schmackity schma. Do well Idra. I love the gom league, but I really think they should work on their own maps or such. It would add a lot to their tournament I'm sick of Andromeda personally, it's a godawful map to watch. There is never anything going on the first 4 minutes, ever. I'm sick of any map that's been in rotation for over 3 seasons. So that brings us to Tau.. WHAT? AGAIN?.. are you kidding me?
Great tourney but could use better maps.

Great tourney but could use better maps. I'd rather have balanced and old Tau Cross than the shit hole that is Tears of the Moon.

Oh didn't see they were using Tau Cross until now. That's probably my favorite map, looking forward to this =) Hoping for some great games to kick off season 3.

That makes zero sense. Why would they play in the tournament last season, then not play in it this season?

He might have gotten it from me inquiring about it in the other thread (Tasteless's). The only evidence (I know of) for SKT not being in the tournament is that there is no evidence for them being in it.
This might read like a conspiracy theory (because it basically is one): The press releases don't mention Bisu despite the fact he won last season. No SKT players are playing televised matches in the first round. Someone from each of the 8 other teams from last season are.

Everytime I read an article/interview on fomos, I want everyone on TL to be able to read the same info as well, so I can't help but try and translate it asap. Also I figure I'll try and do as much translating as I can before other things inevitably get in the way... (work, a show coming up, etc.)

Is anyone gonna pay the 50 bucks for HQ stream and I'm guessing VODS?

idra dont fall into the trap

I don't know if this is mentioned anywhere, but the korean site has the full brackets up.
http://ch.gomtv.com/sub.gom?ch=402&type=43
The three tabs on top show different areas on the bracket. 128 shows all 32 groups with their players and appropriate seeds. 64 shows where the groups end up in relation to each other. Obviously the 4 tab doesn't work yet.

Seriously though, no BoxeR, no Oov, no XellOs, no GoRush, no Midas, no RainBOw ... these are the players that made me watch this thing. This season just got a lot less appealing.

Wow ACE is reppin up in this tourney. Both Reach (Group 1B - Typo, says Terran player) and Anytime (Group 8A) have seeds. How? Hell if I know.

Reach for the win?! Please!

Probably because 12 players ranked before Anytime aren't able to play in the tournament, and 18 players ranked ahead of Reach aren't eligible.
|
The map pool seems better balanced than past seasons.
|
Oh my god there are so many typos on this thing. I was going to at least try and translate some of it but almost every other player is mislabeled on at least one thing (Group 2A seed says it is a CJ zerg, but that's Tempest's name).

Hope tossgirl makes it pretty far. =)

list is weird.. no boxer, bisu, and intotherainbow, who had really great games in S2.
berserker in wrong team. who's Forhitech? he plays winner in his bracket.
lastly, flash needs to play two games in his bracket?? effort is seeded higher?
|
Is casy not in but Cloud somehow is?
edit: nm hes under adamas, and plays winner of soulkey and some toss/ too bad even if he wins his good buddy Iris is waiting.
Idra will fortunately play 2 zergs, if he gets past Trap, too bad one of em is RoRo. Free will be playing a Zerg, (So sad for them). And apparently Reach is so confident he will be using his Terran.
Forhitech is Kwanro.
|
Other errors I've noticed on that link:
Lucifer plays P (and he's a seed?). Tempest plays P. I have no idea who the person listed as Tempest for CJ is. Iris/Berserker is on CJ. Never/ForGG is on KTF (though that one is understandable).
And as others said, how is Flash not a seed?
