Playing on iccup/bnet etc I'd like to think I play a decent game but one thing that I think looks sloppy sometimes is my split. I would consider myself an emotional player (versus a technical player) so losing an scv or a non perfect split in the beginning really hurts my gameplay overall. I looked for a split practice map and I found one here but the triggers were kind of shotty and It didn't seem to be realistically helping me. After a night of playing ssbm with my brother and working triggers off and on I came up with a map that I would like to think really helps someone with their split if they have problems with it. I'm sure many of the users here have perfect/near-perfect splits every time, but I know there are also many users here who don't.

I incorporated mineral patches from most of the popular maps (python, andromeda, medusa, destination, etc) and added some efficiency triggers that keep track of how you are splitting and gives you a % efficiency and rating after every 14 splits.

Mission Briefing:
+ Show Spoiler +
The mission briefing pretty much explains the map:
This map features mineral lines popular maps such as python and destination.

Every 14 splits you will be given a ranking based off of split speed, mineral distance, and time building initial SCV.

Because of different mineral distances and scv pathing, I'm not sure if a perfect score is achievable, although it is included in the game.

The intended play for this map is on low latency game-play on iccup, hamachi, or single player, and has not been tested on other latency.

I uploaded the file to sendspace:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/di8i4g <-- Zerg (thx adagdag)

Any comments or ideas for changes let me know

Don't worry about your split. Just play the game and as you get better, your split should become better.

splitting is something you just have to practise, it doesn't correlate to anything really...

I added the zerg split map, the overlord position seems awkward at first but after 5 or 6 splits it doesn't make a difference. It seems like it is slightly harder with the zerg version but maybe thats just because I'm a terran player.

In regards to not worrying about your split, I just want to point out that in theory, you are absolutely right. There is a direct correlation between how much you play and how well you split. There are two problems with the statement however

1. Some of us aren't korean () and don't play enough to get a perfect split when it is easily achievable in a few days practice, a week at tops.

2. As I mentioned above, for players who a sloppy early game can lead to a poor mid game getting good practice sessions because you spent some time practicing your split is a lot easier then just "not worrying about it"

i think you should number the rounds of splitting so that you know how long until you get graded.

really nice/simple map btw

To practice my split I played the desired map in sp and then F10-o-p-right-right-enter and split, F10-o-p-right-right-enter, and so on. The F10 thingy takes less than a second. It's kind of rustic but hey, it worked for me.

I was considering numbering rounds and/or giving the map & position that the mineral field is located on but I wanted to make it as realistic to an actual game as possible

Yeah I know in situations (usually with better players) people can split well most of the time and just have problems with certain positions/maps(bottom portion of medusa). This is more designed to improve splitting overall and give some feedback to make it more desirable to practice.

nice idea,

just one gripe, in the zerg split the overlord spawns right over the hatchery which is annoying for me because i select the hatchery first thing then go s d. i'll try fixing it myself though

There was a bug with the A rank that didn't display the proper %, but now everything should be working with all 3 versions properly(including ol fix). If anyone has any ideas for another map or changes for this one feel free to share

bump. ok i'm probably one of the few bw players left who still dont know how to split properly. so this bump might not be quite justified

is there a newer map of this available? some of the patches seem to be bugged (maybe they were bugged on the respective maps they are representing)

Also I remember a ton of UMS practice maps being posted somewhere (might have been posted by kona or another caster or not ), cant find it though... any help?

I made this map a year ago by request. It's a split practice map specifically for destination. Hope this helps.

Nice bump! Wouldn't have found out about this if it weren't for the bump Good job!
You mean ESPORTS isnt a synonym for SC2? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -Proud owner of a Filco Majestouch 2 with Cherry Blue Switches- BW or SC2? Why not both?
