Well we had an awesome time today at UofT BA building, tons of people showed up. The premise of our event was pretty simple: Play StarCraft in the middle of campus.
And thats what we did, as lots of people walked by, they all ooh'd and ahh'd at the intense gaming of our members and players. Everyone seemed to really enjoy meeting other starcraft players on campus, and watching, obsing games was really fun. Everyone had like 5 people behind them, watching in awe as players hacked away with there APM skills.
I Hope everyone had a fun time! I sure did, next time we'll make it even better! maybe advertise first lol.
Anyways I'll post the replays of our event in a bit like i promised. Feel free to post here if you came, and we can further meet up for my starcraft, as well as update you for future events.
Everyone close by to UofT is invited to join in, I'm sure everyone wants to meet SCers in real life! (I am personally at UTM too so if you're in sauga feel free to join in)

oh, so you folks are still around? *haven't played since getting banned from NSci labs years back* So how did you people set up this time?

We got a permit to play in the middle of the hallway. So we got some tables from another room (later was scolded to return), and then we found more tables and added more laptops. I brought a router, we played on LAN UDP

I've been hunting down events like this but never came across any. I have my physics tutorial in that building too. I'm so disappointed =[. Maybe next time I guess. Will there be posters?

I'll try. It was a really a great event to socialize with sc players. You still can.
Anyways, we plan on hosting a iccup event soon with great prizes.

some old fart was pissing me and my friend off. I was trying to explain sc is like chess, he keeps going, "but you're killing"
some other people were ignorant, one guy was banging his hands on the table imitating my apm.
and that lady who made us put away the desks while we were playing. Some people saying "sc sucks", but honestly the majority were "OMGGGG SC!!" and the girls were "wow hes fast" lol

Beautifully organized event guys; it was great fun. I hope you can manage to cook up another LAN like this sometime soon again.
It's unfortunate we had to deal with the "old people" like the old guy that couldn't comprehend that we weren't "shooting each other" or the lady that had us replacing the desks mid-games. =x
Looking forward to more reps, keep 'em coming! Some nice games were played.

I went 3-1 overall. I had the privilege of playing the last game of the LAN, unfortunately that was the one that I lost. :p
It was pretty cool how everyone had their eye on the game; the ZvT went back and forth for almost half an hour.

nah yo, utm is pretty chill, so chill to the point that i even show up to class driving everyday from markham.

Wow, that's awesome. I've been thinking seriously of trying to make something like this happen with Simon Fraser University. We have a games club already, so this shouldn't be a huge stretch.
Given the way you organized it, it would probably be easy for us. We have campus-wide wireless, and if it was desperately laggy(>35ms), routers and Cat5 cables can probably be rented from the library. Not to mention that playing games on laptops or on consoles in the main public areas is not at all unusual. Every big event like clubs day has a setup for SSBB. Getting SC randomly in the public area would be easy. Thanks for the inspiration.
NB for anyone who is actually in the Vancouver area or goes to SFU and seriously would like to participate or watch, I am referring to the Surrey Campus.
