try just typing the telnet command into the run box. if that doesnt work go into administrator mode... vista ftl

Tried it, again, doesn't recognize Telnet as a proper program.

Didn't know Telnet was removed from Vista...

I uploaded mine from Windows: Telnet (click)
Hope it will work under Vista.

You can also google "telnet" to find other free clients (but possibly a little bit more complicated to use)

if you are using sympatico, go intenret connections create new connection enter your b1 username + password, the name of new connecion can be anything. Now make sure u have ur normla internet connection and "my new by default is called Broadband" probably bcus im DSL from sympatico. The game works normally and i can host, Each time u shut off modem, or restart your comp just re-connect this new connection and voila(its already been created it dont delete just turns off)

only for sympatico users using vista.

there is another way for xp, which is going into the modem picture and adding UDP and TCP ports 6112. ive never had to edit my firewall. adding ports to it did nothing. Best advice get rogers internet they are good for starcraft.

Legendzs what's Symptico?

So I looked at the telenet thingy and the problem i run into is doesn't recognize "telenet 192.168.1.1" as a valid command. When i type in "o 6112" it replies with a "Could not open connection to host, on port 23: Connect failed".

On my Netgear WPM824v2 router, I've enabled my IP as a DMZ server, Disabled the SPI firewall, and Respond to to ping on port and all of them have failed. I'm still trying to use google to find a cohesive guide on how to enable NAT functionality.

I'll post screenies if anyone wants this.

Btw, thanks for everyone for putting up with the common lag problem banter. It's the highest level (from a techinical standpoint) thread on opening ports I've seen, and I'd hate to cause Jellycat (great shirt btw) a trouble that amounts to nothing.

By default, Vista doesn't install the Telnet client. The client is for text-based communication with remote systems. You can install it by following these steps:

1. Click Start then select Control Panel.

2. Select Programs and Features.

3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.

4. Select the Telnet Client option.

5. Click OK.

6. A dialog box will appear to confirm installation. The telnet command should now be available.
