So reading the forums, it seems like he just saved up all of his leave/vacation days that he couldn't use due to the pandemic, and now dumped several weeks worth right at the end. Basically, it seems like he's on "leave" for a few months, and can't resume civilian activities such as streaming until his service is technically over in December ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jaedong is my favorite e-sports player of all time across any game but tbh I hope he does not return to BW super competitively. He has already given us so much, I just wish for him to be happy and healthy and to take care of his wrists and mental health.

You will never see anyone playing BW now switch to SC2 again, that time was what 8 years ago? If anything you'll eventually see the current SC2 pros go back to BW once Blizzard stops financing GSL...
IMO ForGG made a mistake by switching back to SC2, he was getting better and better, I noticed it on his KSL matches, if he sticked around maybe he could even have chance to be top 5 terran.

Its not as much about results than about fanbase and donations. He just had more income and more stable base if you will in SC2 as far as I know.

It’d be interesting to see if JD has the desire and skill to get back to being a top BW player. He hasn’t been a top player for a long time but it’d be cool if he did. BW is in a better place when JD’s crushing souls.

Dudes been playing his ass off for like 20 years, as much as it hurts me to say there really IS more to life then Starcraft.
Jaedong was vey strong prior to joinin military, and I believe he kept it somehow casual when it comes down to hours put into SC. I believe he will be back and he will aim for the top again.
Jaedong could a top tier player again, but only with a double wrist transplant or cybernetic wrist implants.
Seriously tho, I suspect if JD competes again his wrist issues will return despite his layoff from the military. I myself have wrist issues, and even with a long layoff (in my case 8 months) long-term care is needed to prevent recurrence of the pain.
I dont think JD could compete at the very top level again (like Queen/Soma/Hero level). Just look at Effort case. Prior to military he was in even better shape than Jaedong but after ASL11 he knew he could no longer compete at that level and decided to retire.
JD will try but his level will probably be one tier behind the top Zergs.

Effort had a difficult surgery while in military. He could compete but chooses not since the strain could cause complications. As far as I know, Jaedongs condition is much worse with eyealigments as well as broken hands 😞
Repetitive stress injuries are really hard to heal. I would love to see Jaedong return to the top, but it would be very understandable if he had other plans.
