im actually curious how many people who switched from membrane to mechanical dont bottom out?
ive tried to "train" myself to only press to the required actuation point and it just wasnt doable. like you i bottom out on every key press on every keyboard ever; it just feels so unnatural to only go down halfway

I didn't even attempt to train myself to hit the activation spot, just carried on as normal. If I wanted to do that I'd have gotten a keyboard that has a tactile response, however it's my personal opinion that those are horrible for gaming in the first place. What you want ideally is switches with lower max travel distance, now that would make a difference. I don't know if they exist, though.

Used blacks for a few months, went Red and never looked back ever since, it's a massive difference, technically yes they have the same mechanism but they're two different worlds. Grinding APM heavy games with blacks is competitive finger torture compared to Reds where you can grind games for hours and barely have any finger fatigue. Maybe my fingers were weak noodles but still, they're so different it's not even funny.

It very well maybe be that you're just way faster than I am. That does make a difference too, and I generally hover around 140. If you're going even at 200 it's going to pressure you physically a lot more. Then again, maybe my ligaments are more sturdy, or there's something else, I just don't know.

Sharp: DT35(I heard he uses Mechanical nowadays) / FKmini2(Old data)

Yah I asked Sharp on his stream recently what switches he uses since they seemed kinda loud and he said Browns.

MX Speed (Silver) switches. I have a Corsair K70 with em and it's pretty great for RTS. Double tapping on tactile switches is awful.

I just got a keyboard with brown switches and I absolutely......... hate it for starcraft lmao! Brooooooooooooooother's! How do people play with this thing it's exhausting. My finger feels like it's about to fall off. Not going to lie, it feels good, the clicking, the pushing gives a sense of goodness for lack of a better word but after about 1hour my finger was burnt out, noticed my apm dropped drastically as well and I found myself often having to think more about my keyboard than I usually do because of the exhaustion. It's just another distraction/obstacle on top of the in-game challenge would be the best way to put it. I will say this, my WPM increased drastically in typing by like 30 words. However for gaming it simply isn't practical. Most games you gain benefits from APM so why would anybody want to hinder that with resistance. The only people i can see gaining any benefits from this are people with huge hands who's hand weight would counteract the resistance of the key. But if you have tiny hands it really is a problem and not only because it could arguablly slow down your performance but because I can see keyboards like these being a huge factor to health of your joints.

Anyway I just wanted to test out the hype so I decided to finally buy a keyboard with brown switches this weekend. Not for me and I would still suggest people sticking to red switches if you plan to play games in your death bed lol.

i think the reason koreans use dt35 is because the keys are closer together than standard international keyboards, you are able to stretch one hand over the “1” and “m” keys for easy double muta micro, or move control muta/wraith micro. (hiya had godlike double muta micro and destroyed terrans in fpvods with it using this m-click method during his reign over afreeca before the higher class pros came back) i’ve never touched a leopold keyboard but my guess is that it has the same dimensions/spacing as a dt35, also being closer together than standard keyboards

for non-zergs and zergs who don’t want to destroy their hands with double muta micro, theres no other reason to use it other than maybe being able to click things generally faster since your hands have to travel less

does jaedong also switch back to DT35? it doesn't sound like a mech keyboard in his latest vods

edit: nvm, i was looking at old vods... found more recent vods and it sounds like a mech keyboard
