Map #4 is an interesting update on FS. 4 center bases instead of 1 big midd base should make for better games, gotta see how everything else plays out tho.
Inner Coven! I vote for it somewhere...i don't remember where tho.... I played on it , but it's a hard map for someone like me, who plays non stop on FS haha

I'm finding it difficult to understand other than the fact there's 3 bases in each corner how this map is anything like FS. Care to explain?
While I like the fact that there are some new standard four player maps for a change, I feel underwhelmed by the fact that it is three of them at once. Some 2/3p map would have been nice.
I like Alpha Cantauri. Horizon Lunar Colony has some serious issues with the layout/spacing, it's an interesting take on diagonal axial symmetry ("Python layout").
I find it fascinating that the league is happy to have the event hosted on a 3rd party stream channel. I guess they're incentivized to have many separate channels continue to be successful since as the stream provider their #1 priority is long term health of the platform.
No 2 or even 3p maps? Awesome, more macro awaits S9! I wanna hope FlaSh will broke his promise and play, always interesting to see what he comes up with, especially on Freakling's map.

how many good 2p/3p maps can u think of tho? they're very hard to balance
Definitely not harder than Horizon Lunar Colony… Most of the most recent, standard macro focussed 3p maps seem pretty well balanced. I think there are plenty of good 2p maps. Some of them, particularly the older ones, suffer from lack of resources and weird map split properties, but overall there have been lots of very successful ones over the course of the scene.

Only Sylphid for recent 3p maps. 2p maps there's a few but they all have similar traits (z being weakest in split map scenarios, t vs p on 2p maps depends mostly on the pathing/layout). Personally my fav 2p maps is Blue Storm and Overwatch. Anyways, it goes without saying that 4p maps are much easier to balance, that's my main point.

Still they could go with some old well played map, not having 2 spawn locations map means no 4 pool or any early allin. It's kinda weird to not having a 2/3 p. mappool on a league but I'm not complaining, I like macro oriented playstyle, maybe it will allow zergs to not get choked by strong terrans mid game.
WOO! What a lovely surprise :D Always get worried until a new official event announcement. If Artosis and co aren't casting, I hope they let Nyoken take a crack if he's interested.
Flash yes! Sad to see no bisu. I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer till ASL 9 to see him again. Nice to see that Inner Coven made it, that'll make for some very unqiue games to say the least. I had a lot of fun on it in customs.

I guess afreeca as a whole benefits when users use their platform that they really don't care, in fact if you have an afreeca stream and ask for permission from afreeca or a user, you could just restream ASL or that user for that matter, ASL gets more views from other streamers than it does the official stream.

don't take it as an indication that Bisu won't participate in the actual tournament.

For now it's the map pool for the official map test round. The pool as well as the maps themselves are still subject to change (note map version numbers below 1.00 as well!).
Glad to hear that. I agree with people saying that perhaps we could use a proper 2 player map. Perhaps they could try rebalancing Whiteout and give it another try? :-)

The Troy style assimilator barriers are interesting in a different way though.
Ok, this is a full clip of the 1st match (T vs P) with Shine's observing. or You can see each gamer's own clip later.
starts with Shine's map briefing
Order of the maps: Inner coven - Horozon lunar colony - Polypoid - Alpha Centauri - Escalade
After all game, T gamers gave feedback first, and P gamers later. Their feedbacks are hmph... difficult to translate everything.
As for Inner Coven, both sides are satisfied with balance. T didn't pointed anything. P don't understand why dropping a unit under the Dweb is impossible. Center(middle) is somewhat meaningless; what about adding expo? what if delete Dweb to middle? blahblah
Stork had complained on Space tileset's remastered ramps.
On January 01 2020 23:55 zlald wrote: v.afree.caP don't understand why dropping a unit under the Dweb is impossible.
Dwebs are units and, when pre-placed as unit sprites on a melee map, act a bit strange with regards to collision (cannot drop/racall units on them) and sprite display levels (they visually cover air units).
Does anyone know what Shine typed in his notepad? It looked like he was writing about the maps. Curious to know what he thinks about matchup strategies.
Is there any sort of consensus on what the "best" way to play 3v3 team melee is? Back in college at SC club when we played we generally did this: 1 player doing macro, 1 controlling main army, 1 controlling small harass squad (lings/vultures/shuttle etc) and anything else the other 2 needed. Did the pros playing talk about how they split up roles at all? I would assume flash would macro for T, best for P, and Zero for Z (zerg would be hardest to guess since macroing for Z is easier, and zero has the best muta micro out of those 3 players also).
Yes, Hitchhiker many Korean BW fans are welcoming that choice.
It has been updated from 1.1 to 1.2 :mining (pathfinding) and some essential bugs are corrected (not by Forgotten_, but by AfreecaTV's official map maker (whom?))
https://ibb.co/dWxsmbb New Hitchhiker version for ASL. I remember LRM)Game used to say Hitchhiker was an awesome low economy map. LRM)Game even used it in a few tournaments.

Might be LatiAs (still in the army though?). Or probably one of the old guard (WSH/Str 18-02, EarthAttack …).

- fixed 5 o'clock main's mineral lines to be similar to that of 11 o'clock - corrected the collection of rate of each base's natural - minor ramp and choke fixes

I used Hitchhiker in STPL because it's a really, really fun map. I can't think of ever seeing a boring game on it.
