-정말 오랜만의 개인전 승리다.
▶오랜만에 개인전에서 승리하니까 기분도 굉장히 좋다. 첫 세트에 나와서 승리로 시작했기 때문에 팀 분위기도 좋게 시작할 수 있었고, 내 자신도 기분이 좋았던 것 같다. 연습할 때 팀 내에서 변길섭, 강정우, 이영호 선수가 많이 도와줬다. 이영호가 요새 윤열이가 쓰는 빌드에 대해 조언을 해줬다. 도움이 많이 됐다.
-It was your first 1v1 win in a long time.
▶I feel really happy winning a 1v1 game after this long time. I came out for the first set and was able to achieve a win, thus giving the team good start for the series, highten the teamspirit, and in addition to that also boosting my confidence and mood. During practice Sync, KizoO and By.Flash helped me a lot. Flash gave me tips about the build that Nada is using these days. It helped me a lot.
-이윤열과의 경기도 오랜만이었는데.
▶원래는 공군전 타우크로스에 나가기로 돼 있었는데, 갑자기 엔트리가 변경돼서 팬택전에 나가게 됐다. 상대가 윤열이로 정해지자 감독님이 "미안하다"하시더라(웃음). 상대가 상대이니만큼 힘든 경기가 될 것이라 생각했지만 그래도 이기고 싶은 마음이 더욱 컸기 때문에 연습을 열심히 했다. 스타일 잘 아는 선수니까 VOD 보고 연구하며 그에 맞춰 내 빌드를 많이 바꿨다. 내가 실수하지 않으면 이길 수 있다는 확신으로 게임했고, 자신감으로 밀어붙였다.
-It was your first match against Nada after a long time.
▶Originally I was scheduled to come out against ACE on Tau Cross, but it suddenly got changed so I got to play against Pantech. After it was decided that I would go against Nada, our coach said „I’m sorry“ (laughter). Since my opponent was no other than Nada, I expected the game to be very hard, but this only made want to win even more, so I trained very hard. Since I know his style very well I studied VODs and changed my build a lot in order to adjust my build to his. I was sure that I would be able to win if I’d make no mistake, so I went for it with confidence.
-몰래멀티 전략을 일찍 들켰는데.
▶윤열이가 너무 빨리 발견했지만 그게 오히려 윤열이에게 독이 됐다. 나중에 압박하러 오면 내가 방어타워를 건설해야 하는데 윤열이가 몰래 배럭을 건설하며 꾀를 부려서 내가 타격없이 막을 수 있었다. 멀티를 보는 순간 윤열이가 압박감을 많이 느낀 것 같다.
-Your hidden expo was scouted early.
▶Nada scouted it very early, but actually it turned out to be a bad thing for him. I would have had to build a sunken line if he had come to attack my expansion at a later point, but I was able to defend against Nadas hidden barrack plan without much losses. The moment Nada scouted my expansion, it seems like he felt pressured [thus building that hidden barrack]. [So from what I understand he’s saying it would have been better for Nada if he had just made a 3rd rax in his main and attacked the expansion in a normal way, rather than trying to cheese and fail]
-같은 시간에 임요환도 승리한 것을 알고 있나.
▶그랬나. 요환이형도 잘하고 있으니 같은 올드 게이머로서 기쁘다. 공군이나 올드 게이머들이 승리하는 모습을 볼 때마다 많이 자극을 받는다. 특히 최인규 선수가 이겼을 때 정말 자극을 많이 받았다. 나도 정말 열심히 해서 이기는 모습을 보여드려야 겠다는 생각을 했다. 나도 타 게이머들에게 이런 감동이나 자극제가 될 수 있는 선수가 되고 싶다.
-Did you know that Boxer won a game at the same time, too?
▶Really? Boxer is doing well and I’m happy for him as a fellow veteran player.
When I see ACE or other veteran gamers achieve wins, it gives me a lot of courage. Especially when ChRh won that game, I felt thrilled. I thought that I also want to practice a lot and show good performances. I also want to become a player who is able to encourage and impress other players.
-그간 팀플레이에 좀더 치중했었는데 이번 시즌은 좀 다르다.
▶팀플레이를 많이 했지만 내가 개인전 욕심이 좀 많았다. 팬들 역시 내가 개인전에 나오기를 바라는 분들이 많았기 때문에 내가 개인전에서 모습을 보여야 한다는 어떤 책임감같은 것도 들었다. 임재덕 선수가 팀에 들어오면서 팀플레이 전담이 아니라 개인전도 해볼 여유가 생겼다. 임재덕 선수가 그만큼 팀플레이에서 센스도 좋고 잘 해줘서 완전히 맡길 수 있다. 물론 앞으로도 팀플레이와 개인전 모두 다 출전할 수 있다.
-You used to focus on 2on2s, this season it’s different.
▶I used to play 2on2 a lot, but [this season] I am eager to play 1v1s. After all, there are many fans who want to see me playing 1v1s so I felt kind of a responsibility to come out for 1v1 league matches. When Zerg Bong joined the team my responsibilities regarding 2v2s lessened, which gave me some freedom to practice 1v1. Zerg Bong has just as much teamplay sense, so I could fully entrust him with 2v2. Of course I will still participate in both, 2v2 as well as 1v1, in the future.
-상위권이 눈앞이다.
▶팀원 모두가 우승해야 한다는 한마음으로 전부 열심히 하고 있고 그만큼 열정들이 대단하다. 앞으로 남은 경기를 모두 이겨서 결승에 오르고 싶다.

▶Everyone in the team is training really hard with the spirit that we must win the league, our passion is great. We want to win all the remaining matches and advance to the finals.

▶무슨 말로 시작해야할 지 모르겠다. 팬 여러분들에게 내가 이기는 모습을 보여드리고, 기쁘게 해드릴 수 있어서 좋다. 앞으로는 더 많이 이기는 모습 보여드리고, 홍진호의 팬이라는 것이 자랑스럽도록, 자신있게 활동할 수 있도록 해 드리고 싶다.

▶I don’t know where to start. It’s nice that I was able to show my fans a win with pleasure. In the future I will show more wins and make my fans proud to be a fan of Yellow and make them able to cheer for me with confidence.

Looks like KTF's making a full comeback after last season. If veterans like Yellow can all revive at tough times like these they might just be able to pull some spectacular wins this time around.
Sounds like Yellow really worked his ass off for this match. Things worked out quite well I'd say.

Kinda cool because it seems like he still genuinely cares about professional gaming again and doesn't sound disenchanted. Like he has some renewed hunger to do well.

i love that last line of his; making his fans be proud to be yellow fans and able to cheer with confidence. cuz right now he's so the underdog almost all the time, it's kinda like hoping that the worse player wins.
i think garimto coming back has done wonders for the KTF team spirit; he seems like a great leader -- always the most enthusiastic cheering in VODs and has everybody's respect. maybe the influx of new blood has helped out too, even though it's still mostly the veterans playing.

This is a really nice feel-good interview. I'll still bitch at Jinho til he wins an OSL (Never). But I feel bad for being so hard on a guy who was down. I hope he gets all enthusiastic about Starcraft again.

It was great seeing Yellow win that game, and from reading that interview it feels like he still has the will to do better and go on, Always nice to hear from one of the veterans.

i thought yellOw is lost, after losing 3x vs boxer due to heavy cheese, later on not accomplishing anything+he was always in shadow of boxer, but now it seems he will come back stronger than ever before, nothing can stop good heart+strong mind.
