Update: A look at our village
Hey TL, I have some good news! AfreecaTV and KCM heard about my students playing StarCraft in Thailand (previous thread) and they want to help. As a way to celebrate StarCraft's 20th anniversary they offered to throw a small LAN party for the students (this Wednesday, Korea time 7 PM) and cast one of their replays. They will live cast the replay and provide pizza and soda for the students. They even shipped some gifts for the students. It's crazy how just playing StarCraft started all this. This will be their first real LAN since no LAN is complete without pizza.
This was all thanks to lemmata acting as the bridge between the Thai school and the StarCraft community in Korea. Come check out the event on March 28, 7 PM Korea time. The stream will be on KCM's AfreecaTV channel: http://www.afreecatv.com/cjfals28
Watch my students struggle with dragoons that won't move and die to hidden ninjas as they play StarCraft for the first time. It's the complete opposite of high level play, but if watching people struggle in StarCraft is your guilty pleasure, then this is perfect for you. =)
I know this is last minute, but if you have time, could you send me some fun ally spawn maps like the one Jukado (Jukado's map) made for us? 4v4 maps that allow for easy defense. I'd also like to request one computer stomp map where 7 players can play against a super cheating AI. 7 players that spawn together and first have to defend against an AI that controls most of the map. The students must build quickly to survive and then must leap frog from expansion to expansion or risk running out of minerals.
Thanks again for the suggestions and help you provided in the last thread. The StarCraft Brood War community is truly awesome and supportive. This will be an unforgettable experience for my students and a great way to celebrate 20 years of a game that is special to many of us. It was because of your positivity that I believe led to KCM and Afreeca taking notice.
Cheers to Blizzard for making this game and coming out with StarCraft: Remastered and to AfreecaTV and KCM for carrying on the torch! Happy 20th anniversary folks.

I think it would be a good idea for those of us with Twitter accounts to tweet about this event to various Blizzard/StarCraft Twitter accounts. It is in the spirit of the SC20 anniversary. I think it would be nice if they mentioned it in the SC20 official casts. If they don't, then their PR department needs replacing. As they say in advertising, you can't go wrong with kids and pets. Blizzard would be foolish not to take some free positive publicity from this.
@StarCraft @Blizzard_Ent #SC20 #pongprabaht
etc...

Wow. This is an amazing thing to organise guys. I'll def. be tuning in (hopefully I can learn some plays from these kids).
Let a kid watch starcraft and you've got a nerd for the day. But teach a kid starcraft and give em pizza, you've got a nerd for life.

This positive community response was awsome!

Awesome I'll be watching!

Today I'd like to take some time to show you what our village looks like. It will be a glimpse of what it is like here. Pongprabaht School is located on the outskirts of a city called Chiang Rai. Pongprabaht is famous for pineapples and nearly every family at our school makes a living growing pineapples.
It is currently summer break in Thailand and school is closed. This has made it very difficult for the school to reach the students and tell them about the AfreecaTV/KCM event. The student's parents do not have phones and of course they do not email. Furthermore, many families have gone back to Burma for the summer.
Thankfully, my fellow teachers at the school are very enthusiastic and excited about this event. They are doing all they can to make sure the event is a success. When I thanked them for their kindness, they wouldn’t hear of it and said, “For the children.”
One such teacher went above and beyond in order to bring the students news of the event. His name is Teacher Bon. Teacher Bon took me and my girlfriend on an adventure around the entire village. It took us all afternoon and one of our scooters even popped a tire, but we visited over 20 homes and spread the news of pizza and games wherever we went. When we got lost, we had a student ride shotgun and lead the way. Here are some pictures of our ride through the village.

The full KCM cast of KCM/Zeus/trot will be casting.
It would be great if we could get Blizzard to take notice of this event.

Looks like Golgotha made a tweet about the event.
Please retweet it if you can...

Wow! This is some truly dedicated 20th anniversary event! Who needs Blizzard, when he have people like you? Just pure awesomeness!!!

This event is perfectly in sync with the spirit of StarCraft's 20th anniversary.
KCM mentioned this in his voice-only radio stream yesterday. He asked the listeners if they remember the first time that StarCraft came out and we saw that opening screen with the three faces (z/p/t). He said that same feeling that we can never truly capture again from 20 years ago, that's what these kids are experiencing right now. It's an inter-generational, international sharing of the exact same joy and wonder. What's more is that, just like children's experience with computer games was limited in 1998, the same is the case for these kids in Pong pra baht (even more so).
It's a perfect opportunity for us to indirectly travel back in time through these children's eyes.

The first dark templar wave, the upgrades, seeing shuttle+reaver, storms, mass carriers, and hard-countering them with scouts were all great!
I hope they'll continue to play and continue to enjoy playing but even if not I'm sure this event will be with them for a lifetime!

'KCM' Kim Chul-min, who has been broadcasting e-sports for a long time, will broadcast a special 'StarCraft' contest. The children of Ponpurabat town outside Thailand will show off their 'StarCraft' skills with domestic e-sports fans.
Kim Chol-min Caster will broadcast the 'Ponpurabad Starcraft Tournament' from his african television station (http://www.afreecatv.com/cjfals28) at 7 pm on the 28th. 'Pong Phrabastas Craft Tournament' is participated by elementary school students in Pong Phrabat, Thailand, and the matches already played on the field are relayed via replay.
The tournament started with the goodwill of Korean-American volunteer Sun Lee. Having visited Thailand every year for the past five years and volunteering for English education, he is teaching English to the Ponpurabats children using StarCraft. Children who are bored with regular English classes are learning English more fun through games. Sun Lee posted the story of the children of Ponpurabats on the bulletin board of the e-sports game Liquid website, and Kim Chul-min caster who heard the news, proceeded to the broadcast relay.
he Pong Pravat area in Thailand is a northern rural area, more than 800 km from Bangkok, where children do not have much access to computers and even some have no home phone. The Pong Pravats children who did not have a chance to enjoy the game properly have learned more about 'Starcraft' through English. Ponprabats A glimpse of the 'Starcraft' skill that children have polished.
On the other hand, the pizza party for children will be held in Ponpurabat, the time of the 'Ponpura Basta Craft Tournament'.
