Single file,

winner / loser / date (might be unix timestamp also) / event name - or just
player score / score player 2 / date / event name

or just smth like it

Poegim nice to see you again (SuGo here...). Thanks for bringing it back.

Is it already up or still waiting to turn it on again? Current link (http://www.rankgim.eu/pvp.php) not working for me.

- Jaewon from Nas and Jaewon from WHITE (both having NaS / WHITE after nickname)
- Best from Red and BeSt progamer (first is Best, second BeStKOREA)
- Mind from dM (?) and Mind progamer (same as for Best, but only MindKOREA played)
- Beast from NaS and Korea (resolution same as previously, but only beast from NaS played)

@TT1 im pretty sure that was a walkover, qikz said in the cast today you didnt show up or something. The system isnt going to know the difference.

Yes, it was walkover game, and there were more than couple of such games during season 1. Since I was creating games parser, working on bare TL topics data, which had some walkovers not pointed out, and it was between round 2 and 3, there were difficulties to find out all games which were walkovers in first 2 rounds (that is almost 350 games), because it would require to search for it in youtube recordings, which were back in the day cut into single games. I decided then to treat every walkover as normal game, even though db schema has prepared column to point it out. But even If walkovers were properly set, I would still treat them in STPL ELO ranking as normal game. The reason for that is, if we didn't count them, we would hurt people who were on scheduled time ready to play, because they would not gain points for that too. And most of the walkover cases are that its fault of person who didn't show up, not the other side dodging rescheduling game. We cannot also prove, that your opponent could play on different time or not, so we need to stick to given rules, which are in this example setting deadline for each match and giving team opportunity to replace player with other, playing same race (even he can play offrace if you dont have any spare player with same race) during week or even during deadline. And thats without any permission from another team - you just have right to do it, which I think is pretty uncommon and liberated in comparison to other team tours in the past.
So yeah, sorry for your situation TT1, but your team could replace you with anybody just as you were seeing troubles with rescheduling game, and than he would be on games list as winner/losser depends on how game did go. That would also benefit everybody watching STPL, since there would be more game to be casted and seeing walkovers is always bad feeling.

dM-White - yeah, the point is there are two players with nickname Mind - one from your team and another one progamer (he played at least once in WHITE vs SouL in Round 1, if I remember correctly).

ye counting walkovers as win/loss is good, no other way to go about it. it's only an issue when (extremely rarely) the wrong player is given the wo win.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but just in case any of it should be useful in any way to you, I would like to make you aware of the following thread.

2019 Q1 UPDATE

Ok, i updated rankgim, there might be some mistakes etc, i add like 1750 games since october and 750 games of STPL since march 2018. There is few issues of sharing same name by players with "super common" nicknames, like marine, raynor, last, y.y, dark, spy but its less than 0,1 players and less than 1% games so doesnt impact ranking much, just as small fluctuation. Also few nicknames is existing in few different version so i am not sure are they different players or no etc. Examples: BlaCkSonS, BLaCkSoN, Kaido, KaidoKaze, Mannerz, MannerzMan etc
Waiting for your reports. HF

I love ELO ratings, so here I used the gdoc from radley to plot elo graphs over time.

top 10: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSQxtVuVi78q-QIdIPGbVx5_-Q9W1--qy9zbveQB02YNKY0TKohzvMkyg0CCBI6KY93vS8Ha_23-52s/pubchart?oid=558915804&format=interactive

top 50: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSQxtVuVi78q-QIdIPGbVx5_-Q9W1--qy9zbveQB02YNKY0TKohzvMkyg0CCBI6KY93vS8Ha_23-52s/pubchart?oid=1008483052&format=interactive

Hover over the line to see the player name.

Yeti man. Most underrated player.

The ranking isn't accurate tho. Don't get me wrong, i think having an elo/ranking page is super fun and i appreciate all the work going into keeping it updated.. but it would be nice if the ranking page had accurate data.

It says i have 2 wins vs g0rynich but it's actually 1 win and 1 loss. Like i mentioned i never played vs Marine and you added a bunch of my games where i offraced for fun (vs Labuela // vs Dewalt). Is the goal here to have an accurate ranking or are we just gonna add every single match without double checking anything?

I'm checking the other pages and there's a ton of mistakes in those too..

Also, adding a ranking page for CPL would be really cool, imo.

I think those are valid points. On the other hand, the current approach is also about seeing what can practically be done with the current data.

However, in terms of a more long term and lasting solution for elo ratings there are a number of things to consider:

1) The technical solution where, say a tournament organizer, can hand in or upload a spread sheet in a particular format and it is automatically added to the grand data base.

2) A different issues is creating a policy on which games to include. For obvious reasons, walkovers and games that players do not take serious should preferably not enter the data base. But the games should also preferably come from matches where each player plays on a set of pretty balanced maps. For example, games from BSL would probably fit that criterion better than games from STPL.

Looking to the chess world, only particular tournaments are recognized as official rating tournaments and you know before hand when you are playing rated games so you don't fool around.

These are some thoughts on the long term organization of an elo ranking system, but I recognize that its about making a compromise between what is optimal and what is practically possible.

Hmm I checked my own stats and I didnt notice any errors. The gorynich twice thing is obvously bad, but the system isnt going to filter by how much you were trying to win. If you dont want it reflected in your rank, dont offrace in tournaments lol. Plenty of people are legitimately racepicking or switching race and its going to be impossible to differentiate whos being serious and who isnt. Also some of the results pages for these leagues dont even tell what race was played..

Good to see the ranking back though

The statement about not including tournament (!) games, because someone was playing for fun with offrace is just the most stupid thing I have ever seen regarding elo rank algorithm.
The practical approach is to give particular tournaments and their stages factor of priority, so that match in main league is more important than match in one day long tournament, and match in finals is more important than match in groupstage. However, taking into account, that everybody should play their best in any tournament, others may say it would affect scores in a bad way.
