is kespea actually "that" important in korea? I mean you look at the "world rankings" in tennis/golf, and you dont really care because the wins and performances matter so much more than what "rank" a player has.

haha I didn't know what you were talking about the MBC thing :s

Haha, I was meant to add that to another post, in "what's on OGNMBC stream live now" but added it here by accident.

Yes is really important.
It appears in the most important Tournaments and Finals.

?? so? Just because it's listed doesnt mean it's necessarily that important.

how often do you hear a player say "oh man, my main goal is to get back in top 10 kespa" or "dude, #1 kespa rank is my career goal" when asked "what are your goals for this year?" etc.

Instead it's always "wins" "getting into leagues" etc that's valued by the players in the interviews. Very similar in other sports as well.

Is there even an instance where in sports, the players actually care deeply about their world rank? Because I certainly cant think of any. Your rank doesnt determine how good you are, so why would they care? :O

is that beacuse the world rank determines who gets to play the champions?
I forgot that it must matter in boxing as well, because of how they "challenge" the champions

but I presume that rankings in those 2 sports act in quite a differnt manner than in bw, golf, tennis, squash, etc

To explain you my point better. I will show you this Latin Webpage as an example.

Anytime had some seriously bad luck when you think about it
Getting cheesed 3 times in OSL = ROFL (I consider the FBH game to be so incredibly gay that it has to be cheese regardless of its characteristics.)
And getting to vs July in a bo3 in MSL...

why are you showing us a latin forum page, if your argument is that it has great importance in korea?

that's like saying, beacuse TL.net has a thread on the kespa rankings, Kespa rankings must have immense importance in Taiwan.

it is still important at the higher levels, but right now the higher levels seem to mean "who's #1"

let's put ourselvesback to pre-OSL 3, when nada was just barely ahead of savior in the kespa rankings. I remember a lot of people clamoring about the rankings, savior should be #1, no ndada is #1 yadayadayada.

Let's say savior didnt get into OSL 3. Nada obviously did. Nada does decently well in osl3, gets top 4. Savior wins Gom MSL. April Kespa says savior is #1 and nada is #2, ranking change without any head to head match between the two.

You really think fans or players would buy into the way kespa ranks who is #1 or #2 without a head to head game between the two, and truely beleve that savior is now all the sudden better than nada? I personally dont think so. Kespa is a "decent" barometer, but nothing that has any sort of real or absolute value in terms of who is the "better" player =S
