In the near future, there will be a need for a ladder administration team at TL.net. This post is a call to all people who want to be a part of a new project, and help revitalize the BW scene.
Your duties will include:
- being a reasonable and thinking human being
- having no pity for abusers, cheaters, and whiners, except for the pity you pack in your fist, B.A. Baracus style
- having a good imagination to solve problems and make improvements
- working well with a team
... and probably a lot of other stuff when I think about it
If you are interested, please PM me and I will reply this weekend with more details.
Also, there is still a need for php coders to develop the website, so if you want to help that way that is great too.
Much like being a news writer, or any dedicated person to the community there are other features you must have as well.
A strong passion for the community. A lot of extra time on your hands. A good work ethic. Not to get bored after doing the job for a couple months because you're sick of dealing with idiots. etc... That's why I give some ladder admins quite a bit of respect. You put your own time and effort to make others experience better and more enjoyable. The PGT ladder admins were really great in my experience & quite a few select WGT ones as well.
X17er A. "This guy totally hacked vs me I have proof watch rep" X17er B. "Rofl newb stfu 5-0 with reps ez kid I don't hack."
Most of the time though it's, "I didn't get a win for this, here's rep." "He disc'd but I was winning, here's rep" etc..
You have to answer if you can deal with all that and still continue the job first. Because you need to be dedicated and willing to take some time out each day.
Awesome! Wow a teamliquid run ladder, it's what we've been dreaming of since forever. I might be interested if the duties consist primarily of reviewing replays for hacking evidence/abuse/disconnect and things like that.
ok plz guys I understand if people get carried away with the idea of tl.net hosting a ladder as perfect and good as this site. However lets keep to the subject and try to help mani + the others to make this possible!!!
gl mani, maybe I would have applied if it wasnt for me leaving next week ;o will be back in late june/beginning of july!

go pm a few of hte old pgt admins, theres a few lurkng here. although ares~ became a disgruntled poster once pgt died, he was actually a pretty good admin when it was around.
eh if there's a need to go "seek out" dormant admins that dont volunteer themselves I'm not sure what kind of effort they will be able to bring to the table.
Let's see what the new blood can accomplish before rushing things
i been coming to this site since 2003 pretty steadily and i have to say that this is a good idea and I am proud of tl.net, even though I won't be playing the ladder, I think it's very exciting news. tl.net 4 lyfe.
ex-PGTour ladder admins, in good standing that is, will be most welcome //i.e go apply please. Don't try and bullshit Mani cause he will know who you are already.
I received some special information the last weeks, and I cannot tell you my whole knowledge right now, but TL might be the host for a new ladder that will be created by some known people from America. And I want to be honest, I feel 100% certain that this ladder will have a lasting effect on the whole community and the game BroodWar itself - everything will change for the better!

Ah I was wondering about that. Is the primary reason why because they already are known to be both upstanding members of the bw community and experienced at running a competitive bw ladder?

Just to bring people's hope down to earth. This will not be a PGTour revival. This ladder will be humble compared to PGTour but at the same time more flexible. What is special about it will be the community it caters too, and the people that will run it. And as always, until it is a reality it is just that, a project, so please don't get your hopes up and tune down the hype, since there is none.
Nothing is happening in the near future. We are in the process right now of putting together the pieces and seeing what we come up with. However, with the right mix of people, I think we are on to something good.
If anyone should be nominated might I suggest thedeadhaji? He's a real mannered guy and he spends a lot of time on TL.net. I mean look at his post count for the amount of time he's been here! He's given a lot to the community and I'm pretty sure he would be a pretty good ladder admin. But I'm chobo so what do I know?

Maybe.
Just maybe.
He will apply himself if he wants to be an admin there.
I think a ladder would be really nice to have, but remember nothing is definite. Don't get your hopes up until there is official announcement that they will have a ladder, not just requests for applications for potential admins ^^

I'm flattered by your nomination, but my relative inexperience with competitive broodwar play, as well as my other commitments to this website and its members makes me a non-ideal candidate for this position. I let mani know that I'm always there if there are times when the team needs a bit of extra help, but I am sure that the guys who get the nod from mani will do a great job, and will let us know if they need more help.

TL.net calls for aid and ex-PGT staff will answer I was pgt admin for 4-5 months until pgt has died. And altough it may sounds crazy I've been missing my ladder duties ever since I am gonna promptly send PM .
I have more than 100 PMs to look through. I have not sent anything to anybody, and you may be waiting for a bit. response was far greater than anticipated. However it will be done as soon as possible.
haha, insane is one man 100 admin ^^ working his ass off . there is a lot of hard work behind this thing. engineers from 4 different ladder scene has come forward for this. so hope this goes well.
