I think the number of firebats Midas used was a very nice adaptation for mass swarm ling. Not seen enough of his play to know whether he always uses that but it seems people are starting to piece apart Saviors style.

casy is just not on savior's level in terms of macro and savior plays too smart to let casy get into his little harass micro games.

By the way the video isnt loading for me o_O he did send units to save his expos, but he has to send like 2 million of them just to defend it while midas is just like w/e 2 firebats vs 201491024 lings and the expo is still safe the map is imba ![]()

Midas power grows from what i've seen exponentionaly. The bigger his base gets the more it is harder to completly crush him. But unlike savior and besides his macro he seems more one dimensional to me. A strong player no doubt. But the fact that savior forced up his rythim on him even when things looked bad for savior is a sign that a more balanced map would have crushed midas neck.

![]() Midas\' firebats were awsome job in dwindling down his opponents zerglings. This almost 40 minute game proves that Hitchiker is a very well balanced map. You have a lot of opportunities to attack from different angles, and you can use a shit load of different strategies, it\'s not just macro, which is good imo. Boxer would of loved this map. ![]()

edit. im terran but i hate watching games where zerg does everything while terran just turtles. Terran eventually defends while destroying zerg's expos with small groups and than zerg runs out of steam. Terran moves out and over. Its like the zerg played better but the terran won. Like July vs. Boxer on raid assault, July vs. (i think Hwasin) on r-point. This map is sort of gay. When midas is defending the choke makes it impossible to break. But when hes attacking the savior's choke it makes his army unbreakable.

Watching that gave me the feeling of Midas just barely surviving because Zerg had to literally waste units getting through that choke while terran sends out a small MM/Vessel force and smashes expoes. Granted Savior made some mistakes but he definetly had an incredibly difficult path in front of him. I don't think so. The small chokes are too advantageous for zerg. Midas wasted many units trying to clear out the lurkers which blocked the small openings. Even after breaking down all the neutral buildings, a couple lurkers could fend off the marines while Midas' expo was being attacked. He wasted too many units trying to get through the choke? Think about the defiler usage. Midas' unit switch to firebats saved him a couple times against the lurker/defiler combo. Savior was simply outmatched in this fight. Just find some strong macro-oriented players who are willing to play a long resource battle with him, and you'll find players who can beat savior. Midas, Nal_rA, iloveOOv, NaDa, Anytime. All players who have excellent macro and have played plenty of marathon games. I've always thought his specialty was tvp.Give Midas some god-damn credit though, his tvz is the best in the world and he played like a monster throughout this match. Although I do have to say, even when Savior is beaten, it seems that it takes everything the oponent has to take him out.

Map was imba also. Midas never did real important things in the game, just kept defending all he could, and by the time he won, he was still defending. Sorry, but i just dont like that style.

Sorry, but i just dont like that style. zerg has more options than 'keep attacking'. and yes midas was just surviving the savior onslaught and defending all game, but what the hell else was he supposed to do? if an opponent attacks that often, you defend. in that game, it was not a style by any means, he was forced into defending against savior's constant attacks. you dont know what youre talking about.

After breaking Midas's second expand, he tried to take the main with his lurkers. Eventually they were taken care of by tanks. Had he stayed at the expansion and waited for reinforcement from lilngs, he could've safely expand to the right side of the map. hmmm... I think he did expand to the right side after he lost his lurkers, but he couldn't hold on to them.
