I think the number of firebats Midas used was a very nice adaptation for mass swarm ling. Not seen enough of his play to know whether he always uses that but it seems people are starting to piece apart Saviors style.

i don't understand all the fuzz thats being made about that game, i didn't find it that outstanding.

midas won somewhat luckily with the last pieces of his army. ok it was close, but was it spectacular? gonna watch it one more time, maybe i missed something.

Savior has a style. He is just a tier above his fellow progamers at the moment. Of course, eventually someone will catch up; either because they got better or because Savior goes into a slump, but reaching the plateau where Savior is at now is an amazing achievement on it's own. Sufficiently amazing that I think it will take a while for his style to be "pieced apart".

his style and timing getting out helps the solid macro terrans like midas, oov, nada
casy is just not on savior's level in terms of macro and savior plays too smart to let casy get into his little harass micro games.

Notice how Midas was using a lot of tanks and Firebats. I believe Savior is capable of beating him if they meet again tho.

Even though I admire Savior more than any other progamer ATM, he did make several mistakes in the last part of the game that would otherwise be his. What was annoying was the feeling that because of the map Savior has to do everything absolutely perfect to have a chance where as the Terran could do so many unaccurate things and still win. I know that midas is a special case and he is pretty equal with savior on tvz but the way they played THIS game I don't think Midas would win on a more balanced map.

Map developers in BW have the potential to be like Greek gods They create the land, decide which will be stronger. Than the progamers have to fight against nature like Homerus' Odyssey.

I think that game actually showed that Midas is definetly not on Savior's level TvZ/ZvT. Watching that gave me the feeling of Midas just barely surviving because Zerg had to literally waste units getting through that choke while terran sends out a small MM/Vessel force and smashes expoes. Granted Savior made some mistakes but he definetly had an incredibly difficult path in front of him.

Ok? So wouldn't that be Saviors own fault? That he didn't send back units to save his expo? By the way the video isnt loading for me o_O

he did send units to save his expos, but he has to send like 2 million of them just to defend it while midas is just like w/e 2 firebats vs 201491024 lings and the expo is still safe

the map is imba

Everyone seems to underestimate Midas. Being the sAvior fanboy that I am: if I had to chose someone to defend my life against savior in a game, it'd be midas.

Although I think savior played better, he probably would have beaten any other terran. --V

it seem we are all a whole mind, yes Savior is very great player, we can compare him to federer of tennis. But what i have seen, he has made a lot of small mistakes, he throw and lose a lot of units in midgame, althought i have to recognize is the most perfect player i have ever seen.
I'm sure the programers of the next generation will be as good as him. he is one step forward everyone.
i hope nal_Ra take him down in the finals.

Well actually I was amazed that Savior held on for so long. After the early game battles he was soo much behind gaswise- always loosing his lurks and just killing m&m for it mostly. That vessel cloud was just plain sick. His ling control however...was just... I'm speechless- that's what keept him in the game for so long and almost made him win.

I dont like Savior but it's really interesting to see that even when he's about to loose a game he's still extremly dangerous. I dont think he's perfect at all, just a very calm strategic mind. As soon as he stands on two feet in a game it seems very hard to beat him cause he will use nearly all options he's got.

Midas power grows from what i've seen exponentionaly. The bigger his base gets the more it is harder to completly crush him. But unlike savior and besides his macro he seems more one dimensional to me. A strong player no doubt. But the fact that savior forced up his rythim on him even when things looked bad for savior is a sign that a more balanced map would have crushed midas neck.

Very nice, I love those cut throat games.

Midas\' firebats were awsome job in dwindling down his opponents zerglings. This almost 40 minute game proves that Hitchiker is a very well balanced map.

You have a lot of opportunities to attack from different angles, and you can use a shit load of different strategies, it\'s not just macro, which is good imo. Boxer would of loved this map.

There is a first person view of both players during this game/vod for short periods.

I'm sure there is no vod with 100% first person view of either way. I hope im wrong tho

Savior and Midas both are like the juggaernaut. Once they start moving nothing can stop them. Momentum builds up and its over.

edit. im terran but i hate watching games where zerg does everything while terran just turtles. Terran eventually defends while destroying zerg's expos with small groups and than zerg runs out of steam. Terran moves out and over. Its like the zerg played better but the terran won.
Like July vs. Boxer on raid assault, July vs. (i think Hwasin) on r-point.
This map is sort of gay. When midas is defending the choke makes it impossible to break. But when hes attacking the savior's choke it makes his army unbreakable.

This game is awsome, just pisses me off how its like watching the whole game of a zerg pooring shit through small chokes and canyons onto waiting vessels tanks bunkers and mmf. =[

Any other map!

Give Midas some god-damn credit though, his tvz is the best in the world and he played like a monster throughout this match. Although I do have to say, even when Savior is beaten, it seems that it takes everything the oponent has to take him out.

I don't think so.

The small chokes are too advantageous for zerg. Midas wasted many units trying to clear out the lurkers which blocked the small openings. Even after breaking down all the neutral buildings, a couple lurkers could fend off the marines while Midas' expo was being attacked.

He wasted too many units trying to get through the choke? Think about the defiler usage. Midas' unit switch to firebats saved him a couple times against the lurker/defiler combo.

Savior was simply outmatched in this fight. Just find some strong macro-oriented players who are willing to play a long resource battle with him, and you'll find players who can beat savior. Midas, Nal_rA, iloveOOv, NaDa, Anytime. All players who have excellent macro and have played plenty of marathon games.

You are wrong, thankfully. They just haven't released it yet. They usually release those as a special TV program afterwards. We'll probably see it on TV within the next month.

Can you link to the topic with the interview or whatever it was that showed Savior afraid of Midas?

I'll print it out, laminate it, sleep next to it and worship it, really.

Give Midas some god-damn credit though, his tvz is the best in the world and he played like a monster throughout this match. Although I do have to say, even when Savior is beaten, it seems that it takes everything the oponent has to take him out.
Midas best tvz in the world? Where did you get this idea from? It's odd that you say it so surely as if it was a fact. I've always thought his specialty was tvp.

midas control is insane but, after that, he did nothing. He was just surviving to savior onslaught. And savior, as a zerg, has no other choice but to keep attacking.

Map was imba also.

Midas never did real important things in the game, just kept defending all he could, and by the time he won, he was still defending.

Sorry, but i just dont like that style.

zerg has more options than 'keep attacking'. and yes midas was just surviving the savior onslaught and defending all game, but what the hell else was he supposed to do? if an opponent attacks that often, you defend. in that game, it was not a style by any means, he was forced into defending against savior's constant attacks. you dont know what youre talking about.
what the fuck do you have to say for yourself now you protoss jackass can you retaliate in any way

The reason savior is afraid of midas is that midas and savior are friends and play eachother alot unofficially and they know eachothers style pretty well, so that makes it easier for midas to beat savior than other terran.

The argument about chokes being advantageous to zerg or terran goes both ways IMO. However I think it's much better for the T. Yea omg 2 lurkers can stop a big group of MM with the choke, so bring a tank. Flanking is FAR more important to Z winning fights vs T than a choke for lurkers is for Z winning vs T.

Savior played well, but I believed he made one crucial mistake.

After breaking Midas's second expand, he tried to take the main with his lurkers. Eventually they were taken care of by tanks. Had he stayed at the expansion and waited for reinforcement from lilngs, he could've safely expand to the right side of the map.

hmmm... I think he did expand to the right side after he lost his lurkers, but he couldn't hold on to them.
