Movie has a relatively good winrate vs T, in the Sonic Era (although there are a number of other protosses who would be his near equal, or superior to him in PvT skill, even in the Sonic Era - elo notwithstanding), however, historically he has mostly been quite weak vs T, (TLPD Korean: 37-33(52.86%)), compared to most high, or even mid level protosses, with probably many less experienced protosses showing significantly better skill/results.
However, his PvZ ability was probably one of the highest in history. (TLPD Korean: 51-38 (57.30%)). Considering the trouble protosses generally have against Zerg, Movie's high PvZ winrate is probably a most notable feature, in comparison to relatively weaker PvP and PvT ability(his PvP and PvT statistics would be expected to normalize a bit, as the scene continues to stabilize, while his PvZ statistics would remain relatively very strong). [SOSPA PvZ 43-32(57.33%)]

I think the assessment regarding Mini, is quite inaccurate. I don't want to get into specifics- ultimately his future performance should more or less speak for itself- but considering a number of factors, including: when he became active again in BW, analysis of his Pro Games/Record/context,the time frame and chronological order regarding his SOSPA win/loss record in all matchups, analysis of his ability though watching all recent games, and the change- both qualitatively and quantitatively as time progressed, watching his playstyle/ability on his afreeca stream, it was pretty clear to me that he was favored to advance out of his Ro16 Group. Significantly favored him against both Piano, and Jangbi, and with a decent chance against Larva(contrary perhaps to popular belief). I voted Larva and Mini for best chance to advance from group. Also regarding the Ro32, I don't think it was accurate to say that Larva would not pose a problem for either Jangbi or Lazy. Larva has such a relatively high winrate vs Bisu in ladder games,-that almost in isolation, that is enough to indicate he would pose serious problems for at least most mid/lower tier protosses.

Also, I was not aware that Killer had a high PvT ELO peak.

Great post.

Movie's pvz style was always very interesting. I remember in 2009 when he first was getting attention in the scene. He would always do these weird early push timings against zerg with dragoons and reavers. Also his harassment style was also very aggressive from the beginnings, but he has taken that style to the extreme. I'ts simply ridiculous. I think most viewers were entertained by his game against Zero in the recent proleague. At one point it seemed like he was harassing four bases at the same time with HTs and by constantly sneaking DTs into the drone lines of Zero.

But still he lossed. The fact of the matter, is that harrassing drones is not as effective as harrassing SCVs and probes. Why? Because the zerg has a million larva and can rebuild them in one go and regain his economy. It's a question of time. P harass Z to buy time. Think about it. P can go with no harass and just pressure the defense line of zerg and take map control with an ever growing power ball of units. But thats more difficult than it sounds. But in terms of management its not very demanding. All you do is sit back, macro and move your army around while slowly taking expansions. Its sounds easy peasy. But we all know its not.

So i think the general idea is to not be overtly passive in pvz. So you harrass. And remember you will have the APM do it since playing the ol' power ball style is not particular demanding. But it will be if you are passive. When Z start attacking P multiple sites and dropping lurkers in the probe lines, it will be anyting than easy.

In 2007 Bisu led the revolution against the zerg race. Taking air control with corsairs. Killing overlords witch in turn makes the threat of DTs that more deadly and further increases your map control before Z has overlord speed and the proper means to protect them. Never stopping the harrassment. This buys you time to expand and gives you the initiative. Its all about initiative. The pre Bisu days, the Z had all the initiative and P was left in the dark fending off attack after attack. By taking the initiative through map control the situation got more balanced.

The way Movie is playing versus Zerg he is not just trying to balance the situation of initiative out, but turning it completely on its head. I believe his extreme way of harrassing the Z economy can work, as he showed in the Fix Race wars where he completely dismantled 4 of the best zergs in a row including hero on Fighting Spirit. Those games were the most extreme and perfectly executed P harassing Z i have ever seen. And it can backfire.

I like extreme players. They have style. Its fun to watch and they engage you in questioning how the game is being played. I endorse Movie.

They are on the same side of the bracket, and would meet in the semi-finals.

sonic will probably randomize the ro4 though

They make the group draws so exciting. e.g. after Bisu was selected for Ro8... "Lim" -(pulls up next card) ....."HONG GUUUUUUUUUUUU"
LOL. BOOM. Funniest result+nailed it.

The games yesterday were amazing, hoping the 2nd half would be just as good.

Mini and Kwanro games will be fun if anything

I am a huge movie fan for his PvZ and I think he is really one of the top pvzers in the scene, not necessarily worse than bisu when he plays wells. He even said in china that he thinks he has the best PvZ at that time, and I believe him.

The way movie plays is to fuck up the other player's tempo and sense of timing with balls out harass. Good Zerg players will generally deal with this style a lot better, but worse players will just get completely rolled in extremely one sided manner, which is really fun to watch
