Really wanna play broodwar. Your ping and the ability to host games have not much in common. For the ability to host games you have to forward the port 6112 in your router and let BW communicate through your firewall (BW uses 6112-6119 but you only need 6112 for hosting I think). The ping command only tells you your ping to the ICCUP-Server which is located in Russia and has not really anything to do with your latency vs your opponent in the actual game. I think a ping of 300 to ICCUP is pretty normal for users in Europe who don't have a super good internet connection. I have around the same ping and can play just fine. | ||

When i enter iccup i have a ping around 57. As soon as i join or create and i write /Ping again,i get 300+ I barely see any games in joinlist or it seems i cant create either. Opened the ports you wrote both in my router and my windows firewall. | ||

Oh boy. Still barely see any games and sometimes i get "latency to high when i try to join the few games i see". Something must be wrong. | ||

Something must be wrong. That might be because those hosts don't have their firewall/router configured correctly. The behavior with having a low ping at your first login also happens to me, so this is normal I would say, but I don't know the reason. As for games open at any time, that's how the activity level is at the moment. With /motd you can see how many users are online and for the time being the peak is around 400-500 at european evening. If you consider a game length of 20min wih everyone playing 1v1 then you only get like a new game every 6 seconds on average, so naturally you only have like 1-2 1v1 games open plus some 2v2 and ums maps most of the time. The fish server has more activity, but if you aren't atleast C on ICCUP, I wouldn't recommend it aside from the language barrier. | ||
