well can anyone post pictures of thoe huge korea games where TONS of people show up, prefferable the rumored boxer game which attracted 100,000 viewers (read this off that 1 top 10 gamers of all time (boxer won, and it said he attracted 100,000 people)

Thanks, because i was kind of like HELL YEAH, that game attracted more then the average super bowl (80k)
aka NrG.GoDz, nH.GoDz, GoDz[h20], GoDz[sK] (regretably) you get the picture. :p

100,000 would be a way overexaggerated number. There is no way any Starcraft game anywhere in the world that could attract that kind of audience, not even close.

That's a bit deceptive. Super Bowls generally attract capacity crowds. 80k is probably all the stadium can hold. Hundreds of millions more watch on TV.

That's not to say 100k isn't fucking awesome, but comparing it to Super Bowl numbers may be getting a bit ahead of yourself.

Is there a reliable reference for 100,000 people actually showing up? I've heard that before but it just seems way too big - that's more than a largue stadium's worth of people.

I have been in buildings that hold my entire city, and its packed. Its better when you are in the building and you take a look around, kinda gives you that jibbly feeling.

The LDS Conference center held about 79,000 I think.

In Japan they have huge stadiums and super domes. I'm sure Korea has some that are just as large. I don't want to throw out a random number but it may have been 150,000. I am not sure.

speaking of audiences, can the players hear the crowd's reaction? like does that add to their gameplay? Also can they hear the commentators? Or even see the crowd cheer could affect their game play

they DEFINITELY can't hear the commentators (wtf?) and they're not supposed to be able to hear the crowd either (headphones and sometimes protected in little boxes) but there have been accusations of "ear hacks" lol

I'm not sure about now but there have been occasions where a player has heard the crowd and used it to his advantage. Many people probably recall the time Boxer pulled his units away from stop lurkers because the fans were screaming. Because of incidents like that they probably try to prevent it hence the playing booth (in huge games) and thick headphones. I'm not sure if the thick headphones can block everything out but.

But you're forgetting that SC does not need the whole playing field to be played, so there is even more space for viewers. The game that had 100k live viewers was some final maybe a year ago, can't remember exactly and probably it isn't very hard to google accurate info about it.

There's a humming sound "produced" in the booths, Boxer once complained it was annoying him, so they are completely safe.
The incindent was with a small crowd in some indoor place and they had to leave after it.

It's rumored that these events draw over 100,000 spectators, but if you look out at the audiences, there's really no way that they can be bigger than 30,000. Unless what's happening is that people show up and then leave and other people replace them, in which case, YES there may be 100,000 people viewing the game, but NOT all at the same time.

Yeah, that picture shows many people, but I doubt that's 100,000. Consider how big an NFL stadium is...

I'm PRETTY SURE the audience in that picture of KTF - SKT1 Proleague Final had an attendance of 130,000 as I remember reading on Uzoo.com.
