Check out the foreign scene portal at Liquipedia!

Hi guys. You might have noticed that we've been pretty busy behind the scenes by bringing you awesome coverage of Sonic Starleague, as well as the now finished Torenhire Starleague. This is all part of our Brood War News Coverage project where you can once again enjoy BW news on the front page of Teamliquid.

But we won't stop here. TL will continue supporting the BW scene with some exciting new things to be announced very soon. For this reason, I must ask you to forgive me for somewhat sporadic updates on our poor little ABC, the project that has started this all. I know I've said in Volume 1 of ABC that we'll have an update for you every two weeks, but with our separate coverage of the biggest leagues and Gambit Cup now finished with Round 1, there's simply not that much to write about.

Without further excuses, here is what we've got for you this time. Between the last update and this one the Gambit's Cup 3 - Playoffs took place. Find out who managed to take home the title and prize money. After that you can check up on what happened in the Rest of the Scene. TheEmulator, with a little help from Birdie, will take you through everything from the D Ranks All-Kill Teamleague to the [PCTF] Nostalgia Tournament. Like last time we've compiled a short list of Recommended VODs for your viewing pleasure. And last but not least, ArvickHero will try to whet your appetite with a Preview of Things to Come. Enjoy!

Gambit's Cup 3 - Playoffs

By: Simplistik

Week 8 of the 3rd Gambit's Cup saw the wrapping up of Round 1. The previous week ended in a rather dramatic fashion with LRM clinching the remaining playoff spot. Going into the playoffs there were two questions that needed to be answered: Could anyone stop Sas, and if so who? Only CN had beaten Sas during the regular season and they dropped out because of some disagreements. LRM were beaten handily 4-1 by Sas going down to the 2-hit combo that is Sziky and Michael. SJ had fared slightly better, but still lost 4-2 to an all-kill by Michael.

SJ vs. LRM

In the first round of the playoffs LRM challenged SJ for a spot in the final and the chance to win the $500 prize. SJ had been looking good for most of the season, initially only losing to Sas. However, they surprisingly lost to SiR, after having secured their playoff spot. LRM on the other hand went into this match on the back of an emphatic 4-0 win. Deciding to ride their momentum, they sent out Technics who was on a 4 game winning streak. It was a fairly close affair over all. Eventually the LRM Zergs came out on top to take it 4-2.

sas vs. LRM

Going into the final match LRM opened proceedings by sending trutaCz, who had finished off SJ. Many probably thought that the final would turn into a ZvZ marathon (oxymoron!), with Michael or Sziky coming out to play. Ultimately, Sas had other plans. Perhaps inspired by the relative TvZ-friendliness of three out of the four initial maps, skzlime took to the stage. Having only won a single game in the previous seven weeks, was he going to fold under the pressure? Was he hell!

D Ranks All-Kill Teamleague

By: Birdie

The D Ranks action never stops! This time we have the D Ranks All Kill Teamleague, run by BaD]Seed aka chrisolo. Eight teams will battle it out in Winners League all-kill fashion, in matches comprised of 5 sets.
There are several new teams, and several old, so there will be a great mixture of players and teams involved. The "old" teams are DeSPA, Stealth Bunnies, Courage, TAKK, and Airforce ACE of Spades, and the new teams are NW Power, Sun Kan, and a team which may be called Team 8, although the name is not yet finalized.

hp.Shell will be casting and uploading VODs to http://www.youtube.com/user/RaddmiralSC, Birdie will be livecasting some matches at http://www.twitch.tv/sen_birdie, and uploading to http://www.youtube.com/user/BirdieBW, and chrisolo may be livecasting at http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/chrisolo .

If anyone else is interested in casting the league, feel free to send chrisolo a PM or check out the topic: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=374624

D Ranks Individual Tournament, Season 4

The fourth edition of the D Ranks Individual Tournament concluded earlier this month, with a great finals between the top finishers, L3gendary and NalZeck. This tournament has shown us some spectacular play from these two players, and the final did not let us down. L3gendary was on fire that day, taking down NalZeck 3-0, and becoming the champion of all the D ranked players.

If you have missed any games of this amazing competition, you can catch up on it by watching the full VODs.

NoisE ASL2

The NoisE Amateur Starleague continued this week with the conclusion of the Grand Final, between NoisE and WandS. These players dominated their competition throughout the tournament, leaving no one standing in their mercilessness. In the end WandS was a step above the rest. Even though NoisE is a great competitor and a force in the BW community, he was still no match, as he lost the series in four straight games.
This week we also had the 3rd place match between Jonoman and Wallace. Jonoman ended up taking the series with a convincing 3-0 victory. Congratulations to these players, you all did a great job!

You can check out the final brackets at http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Noise_Amateur_Starleague_2/Bracket . You can also watch all the VODS at the

Yellow Starleague

The http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Yellow_Starleague ended this month with the conclusion of the Grand Final. We had a great series of games between JungEunji and Breach, which Breach won 3-1 in the end. For the 3rd place match we had drshrinker vs youRun, which ended up being a very close series, going 3-2 in favour of drshrinker. Congratulations to all of these players, we enjoyed all your games in this amazing league!

D Ranks Game of Thrones

The D ranks Game of Thrones tournaments lives on with its current Terran King Obelisco. Since his reign started, Obelisco has gone 6-0 against the latest lineup of plebeians who have tried to dethrone him. His latest conquests have been over zerg players skeggaba, and Djagulingu. The next scheduled opponent for Obelisco, will be Toss player icedraco. Is he the one who will finally dethrone the king?

If you seek the fame, glory and power of the D rank throne, simply leave your name, race and match-ups in the D Ranks GoT thread and begin your preparations.

To watch the VODs of these great battles of kings, head on to its VOD thread.

NetWars CUP 2012 #2

Last month the second NetWars CUP took place, and it was as much of a success as the first one. This tournament consisted of the top Polish BW players battling it out for the spot as #1 in the Polish scene. In the end we had Pike vs TrutaCz, which ended up being a very clean victory for TrutaCz with a 3-0 result.

You can see the full brackets at http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Netwars_Cup_2 .

[PCTF] Nostalgia Tournament

This is another tournament hosted by the amazing Pucca, with a capture the flag format, and a $20 grand prize straight from the pocket of Pucca himself. The original games were played on October 27th, and Pucca casted the top 6 players on November 3rd. Check out the Liquipedia page of this peculiar tournament where you can find all the information you need, from VODs, brackets, to replays: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Pucca's_CTF_Nostalgia_Tournament

Mazur vs Pike
A 40 minute long game from Gambit Cup playoffs that remains close all the way to the end.

+ Show Spoiler +

trutaCz vs skzlime
First game in Gambit Cup finals full of action. Definitely worth a watch.

+ Show Spoiler +

Infernal vs Sziky
A "practice" game between a top foreign player and an old school BW gosu. Interesting start from Zerg though.

+ Show Spoiler +

NoisE vs WandS
Grand finals of the awesome ASL2 tournament were pretty one sided. This game was no exception, but the winner still makes it entertaining.

WandS vs Julia
Funny game from Pucca's Capture The Flag, Season 2 tournament where there's more strategy than simply killing your opponent.

It's too bad that with all these tournaments ending around the same time we don't have many casts to watch other than the weekly SSL. Can't wait for nation wars and gc round 2 to start.

Yes, I just noticed as well

Looks like we added a period in the url's by accident for the noise and netwars link. Until 2pac fixes it, you guys can just erase the period and you will get directed to the correct page.

Edit: whoops, it happened on volume 5 for the noise and netwars link as well. 2pac, fix that as well, just take the period out of the url plz. That is my bad, lol.
