Dont koow how good he was as a pro gamer. Actully I think he was a B teamer. A bit wierd for pro gamers you have heard about to be revealed in such light. People throw acid because it leaves permenant disfigurement, it doesn't really ever happen in the west, but in other countries there are quite a lot of cases of jealous men throwing acid on women after being rejected by them, I guess their intention is that if they can't have them then nobody can, or nobody will want to.
I hate to say it because I hate that its true, but a lot of a women's value is her beauty, more so in some countries so there's that aspect of punishing her too.
The more I read about this guy the more I'd like to run into him in the street. I hope this guy goes to prison and in there he meets some guys who are as disgusted with domestic abuse as everyone in this thread is.

As regarding to your acid question, acid can and will permanantly disfigure a persons face. It will also burn up any skin it comes to contact with. I don't think even plastic surgery can fix it. Most commonly used acids are 'Hydrochloric Acid' and 'Hydrogen Sulphate', the latter being much more deadlier than the first one. It is usually kept inside a flask (like the ones in a chemistry lab) and you throw it at another person.

Where are these people coming from into these BW threads saying things like "Actully I think he was a B teamer"?
And this is pretty disgusting. But I can't really be surprised if this allegation turns out to be true.

you people don't like to hear it, but these are the dangers of socially depriving young adults and making them play a violent game for 12 hours a day during a crucial development stage of life.

Do we want to hide things from people to keep the from doing them or do we want to just teach them not to do it?
I think the later is better.
We all now the true answer:

I dunno about that. If your kid is born a psychopat without the ability to feel empathy then there is a good chance that person will end up harming people. It's unclear if the mother has any hand in why he has become abusive but she sure seems to think it's acceptable behaviour.
I just wanted to make the point that it he might have done stuff like this even with perfect parenting. Some real life psychopats know full well intellectually that they shouldn't harm people. But they do it anyway because they are simply physically unable to empathize with the victim or they are deluded enough to value themselves miles above anyone else. Kind of like a normal person would value themselves higher than a rodent or a bug.
Again we don't know enough of Luxury to confirm if this description fits on him. It might be he has a rage problem. Point is, we don't know.

I'd be willing to wager that if you took statistics of abusive spouses the gamers would probably have a lower percentage of offenders than people with other hobbies/interests. Gamers are known to have fits of rage in front of computers but that would indicate that they are getting an outlet for that rage. I've never ever heard of someone beating up on their wife because someone killed their character in world of warcraft or something similar.

and because we are obv so pasty and weak from lack of exercise all spouses can probably beat all gamers up

I think Terranist has a point here, although it is complete silliness to assume it's all Starcraft's fault. By playing the game you don't play vs computers and most of the time is spent with friends. Starcraft is in no way violent enough or graphically sophisticated enough to pose any danger on people's social competence as a game such as GTA might, involving both graphics and clear negligence of moral. I do see how young adults get deprived of much of their social life because of Starcraft, but it is no different than most elite athletes or in some cases hard working students.

i don't think we should blame sc for this. just looking at the diary it sounds like his parents are all kinds of fucked up, it's a miracle yarnc turned out normal if he even did. other gamers who got his kinds of opportunities are generally happy-go-lucky as long as they have supportive parents... most gamers seem pretty happy and well-adjusted, to be honest

really really wrong, Abuse in Korea is uncommon in general, and abuse of spouses in united states is largers than almost any country, you can't blame that on video games.
Lets go back to united states in the 50's, before video games and colour TV. Spousal abuse was extremely common and it was almost werid for a hunsband to not beat his wife. This was before video games and such.
having one case of a gamer beating his wife, abeit a well known progamer. Isn't proof. Luxury was ascumbag long before he had a wife or even a girlfriend, you could see that once he did have those things, he was able to let his abusive personality out. Abusive personalities don't come from video games.

Do you genuinely think that people who are deprived of "regular" human interaction and instead are given an RTS to dedicate their life to are somehow handicapped or affected negatively upon the notion of acting as a human being?
I'll go ahead and answer for you; no.

to be perfectly honest, culture and the way people are brought up in asian countries tend to be not only a little more conservative.
I was told however, that south korea is the one asian country which is the most similar to "western" culture.
