According to today's OSL Semifinals broadcast, the commentators revealed that currently OGN is looking for a bigger place to accommodate the Finals and that the time as well as the location are currently subject to change.
Previously announced Date and Location: July 28th at the COEX in Seoul.
This should be especially worrisome to those who are traveling from far and wide to try to go to the OSL finals. If they DO change the location and time, this would throw so many people here off and would be very, very bad for them.
The source is the end of the broadcast 2nd Semifinals between Fantasy and Flash.
I will try to keep this thread updated as more information comes out in the coming days.
Edit:

buddies, show Kespa our passion for this greatest game!!!! i remember there was a picture showing the audience size in a final(forget what final was that), that final was held in beach.
So....I'm pretty new to this whole watch-Broodwar-live business since I've watched streams for everything. But considering this is the last OSL and I'm nearby, I'm interested in watching this live. Can somebody elaborate on how this process works? Am I supposed to be buying tickets from somewhere?
*edit* or rather I guess it was 15:30-18:30. misread schedule start time looking at it for the 1 second. still I'd imagine estar seoul would have kept it on their schedule if it was still being held there instead of changing it to proleague (snm also said this in the other thread, but I provide a linku!)

COEX is big, but it's more a convention center than an actual gymnasium (where there are already seats and a stage etc).
My two big guesses are Jamsil and the Olympic Gymnasium, as they have hosted OSL finals before, are in Seoul, and hold a capacity of over 10k (COEX can only fit 8k).

I believe so. It's been quite the number of years (2 I think?) since he joined the AF, so I'm guessing after this proleague season he's going to go back to KHAN.

Oh KeSPA, keeping up the old tradition of spilling the beans at the very last minute. I feel for all those who already booked flights but are raging at the changed date. D:
Speaking of tradition, I too hope that they have the last finals on Gwanganri beach. Although a bigger stadium would probably be more appropriate to accommodate more fans, I wish that they would return to Gwanganri out of nostalgia, in my opinion the original holy ground of BW finals.
And of course, thanks for sharing the information with us, jpak and N.geNuity!
Change the venue, not the date. For having attended to a canceled PL Grand Finals in Shanghai I can promise you that people will be super super angry if they miss the finals.

thought you died :O are you in korea at the moment?
Complete hypothetical but... It would be so weird if they kept the date and actually did it in Gwanganri. OSL and GSL in Busan at the same time on beaches just a bridge apart.
That's a bit disappointing, I didn't really like the proleague finals venue. I'd rather them have it outdoors but I know those areas cost a lot more to rent.
GSL is going to the beach, OSL should do even better!
2010-2011 PL finals venue was amazing, I wish they would use that again.
Holy fucking roflcopter from hell, fuck you so fucking much Kespa + OGN. FUCK!

Your frustration is completely justified, this sucks for people who planned their trip in advance.
If there's a new date I just might try to host a Dutch LAN after all... I'm glad I didn't have money to book a flight, cuz I would have. I feel sorry for all the foreigners who did do this already.

Yeh, it'd be an insane stretch on my budget to stay two full weeks in a hotel, so I'll definitely get in touch with you if it's possible to change the flight.
Myself and kjwcj were also planning to leave before the 4th, but if we change our flight, we still have to account for accomodation for another week, which blows.
For whatever reason they really weren't expecting a big turnout for the LAST BROOD WAR FINAL EVER, were they? One could even say they got caught with their supply depot down around their ankles...

Yeah it is pretty unprofessional of them. Last year's PL was even worse when the weather caused them to cancel the finals in China and switch it back to korea. Hopefully anyone screwed over by this can get their flights changed. You might have to pay a fee though but im sure they'd be willing to do it and it's cheaper than spending a week in korea.

Funny, cause eStars will hold less people than Incruit since they will have those computers set up near the stage for gaming experience for everyone who's attending eStars festival. Which already eliminates a lot of seats. And OGN tried to make sure more people can enter the finals by switching the venue.

I went there for the PL Finals. Because it's like a basketball stadium with no stage, the stage is put on the playground so I'd say that 30% of the seats are not in use. But because they also put tons of chairs on the playground in front of the stage, I'd say that 15% of the capacity is wasted. So the capacity for the OSL will be 6500 seats max.
Holg, maybe we can all contact OGN and make a complaint of some sort. This is horrible for you and I'm so sorry. Sad news indeed. Everything will work out for you, I can feel it.
Seriously? I made sure I had work off that day. I should still be able to have that day off but.... come on, you shouldn't change dates on such short notice :/

So I've never been to an event before (I'm actually studying abroad here) Do you know if it's just first come first serve or do I need to purchase/reserve a ticket?
Look it at the bright side, as Kespa continuously change their mind, there is probability to announce in the last moment that this will not be the last Broodwar OSL.
After speaking to Air China, they're telling me they can't do anything until I've started my journey (because up until that point all my moneyz that I've paid to the agency I booked via belongs to that agency, and that agency is basically going ''Fuck you, can't reschedule''). So I'm either gonna have to try to reschedule my trip home after I get to Korea, or I'm gonna have to book a separate ticket home which will cost a fair amount of money. Fuck my life indeed.
If there were any Kespa representatives in my home town at the moment, they'd be in trouble.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would they be to reschedule the flight back if they can't reschedule the flight there? I'd try really bitching at them to get the flight changed.

man.. so sorry bout your issue.
I have quite a bit of experience flying via Air China, and they are really lame when it comes to rescheduling flights. Usually pushing a flight back is ezpz, you just catch a plane ride back home when you need to since you already paid for one, but you really need to get your travel agent to be on your team and try to help you out. Your agent does this every day of their life, so if they're on your team trying to help you, you're much better off than fighting this battle alone. Whether you can push your return flight back depends on how the agent booked your ticket. Knowing Air China, they're going to try to make you buy another ticket regardless. I missed my flight home from Korea one time, and since my agent booked my flight as non-changeable, I had to, though I bitched and moaned for long enough to get them to reduce the price for the extra ticket. Try over the phone beforehand as much as you can bear (with your agent and airline), but I was never personally able to get anything to happen until I was there in person. If you can't get any breaks over the phone, go to your departing flight a couple hours earlier than you would have and duke it out with them in person.
Yeh, all I can say is I won't book via this agency anymore. It was really fucking cheap, but that is showing off right now. XD If I had paid 100 dollars more they could've probably helped me a lot more than they're doing atm (which is, is no fucking way at all). Thanks for the tips, gonna try me best.

on the bright side, looks like you're going to have a bit of a longer trip in Korea now. If you're staying at a hotel and the longer stay creates a burden on your wallet, I can recommend a couple good cheap hotels that I never would have found without some local help (~$70 USD per night). Enjoy lots of bbq for all of us who can't go . And sashimi if you're flying into Incheon.

A friend of mine owns a hostel in Hongdae if either of you guys (or anyone else) needs a place.
I'm not really sure if he'll offer you any discount but at least you know you'll be in an alright hostel. Also for those of you unfamiliar with Seoul, Hongdae is a pretty cool place to be staying anyways (Tasteless lives there).
I believe his usual price is 18k for big dorm room and 20k for smaller one.
I was planning on flying over from Thursday to Monday but I might have to change that around now that it's in August. So I might be staying only the Friday to Sunday.
PM me if you need a place and I'll get in contact with him.

Yes. CJ vs Woongjin on 28th July is at the COEX.
Sadly I wont be here for the finals since they moved it, but if anyone else at the venue wants to hang or something I'll be in a TL uniform, hate being alone :p
ill be in the queue from 12pm i've decided. GLHF to you guys going earlier, jamsil isn't like coex where you can get a friend to save your spot and bum around for hours to return again :<
you guys at 6am are just insane... i think... haha .... oh gosh

Yeah it's very sad to admit, but BoxeR was struggling against Huk on BW, and that was before his shoulder was hurt. I don't want to imagine his skill now.

shit I'm running late! thought it starts at 3pm not ends. can someone update me with the tickets? is there still any chance? I run now I'm close by but maybe one of you guys could get another 2? probably not possible
We got so lucky: when we were like 10 meters away from getting our tickets they announced no more tickets were gonna be handed out. But when they saw how sad we got, an OGN guy pulled us to the side and gave us some anyway. :D Being a foreigner is a good thing sometimes, I suppose.

Would someone be amazing to me and be able to somehow try to grab me a vip ticket when they are at preleague today, I have a meeting today and I won't be able to make it in time to get to yongsan, I would if I could but the meeting ends at 7pm and I won't be able to get there in time.

Not possible. You have to be there to grab it.
We need tickets in order to get in to watch finals?
VIP tickets are being handed out since Friday (to today). You will get tickets at the finals date as well but you'll have to wait at the actual stadium then.

Well I'll try to get there, Though my meeting is in Gimpo, so getting to PL is going to be a tough one, I'll likely won't make it, so I'll have to mis it this time, I'll make it to the next BW OSL though!

Managed to get some tickets today. Any idea how early I should try getting to the finals with these? I'm assuming I won't still have to sit outside all day to get good seats.
Which one of you was the 2 meter tall guy that asked me about the queues? Holy moly. I am far too accustomed to Korean height nowadays so you made me feel ridiculously short!

You shouldn't have to wait almost anything. I might be wrong though. Supernova, can you answer this (or anyone with more knowledge than me)?

I don't know how seating itself works with the VIP tickets. I heard numbered seats somewhere, others said that its first come first serve for VIP tickets too.
All I know is, people with VIP tickets are guaranteed a seat, given that they exchange their eStars ticket with the real VIP ticket at the venue before 4PM (BEFORE 4PM). If its first come first serve, it means people who are in front of the line will have better VIP seats, but anyone with the ticket will be allowed inside even if they come later than those lining up without a ticket.
Have I understood it correctly that, arriving thursday morning, the only way I can get a ticket is by queueing at the venue from early morning on Saturday? Or is there any kind of inofficial trading in tickets by people holding tickets but not going (or would that be illegal in Korea)? I'd gladly pay a reasonable amount for being sure to get in (and for not dying from the heat), but if queuing is the one solution I guess that's what I'll be doing.
Also, can anyone recommend some good, fairly cheap accomodation (obviously some of you are there already and may have had some good or bad experiences)?
On July 29 2012 21:34 Dansickle wrote: haha, Galtakar, thanks for the info, that was me. That's why I said if people were looking to meet up, can just scan the crowd for me.
Also, I might have an extra VIP ticket. I won't know until Friday, or maybe even Saturday, but if it ends up becoming available, I'll post here.
Haha, alright. No problem.
Hm. If it does become available, you think one of my friends can have it? She wasn't able to show up today due to work outside of Seoul.
does anyone know what time they are actually going to give the tickets to people, I know proleague it was at like noon when they gave out the tickets, similar for PL?
If thats the case I'll likely head there about 10am,
At what time should I go the stadium on saturday for tickets? And I read people get tickets at PL, do they still give out tickets there today and tomorrow?
My brother and I are going to Korea for OSL final too. We'll arrive on Thursday evening,so we'll be pleased if anybody can help us with information about tickets.
So many people just registering on this website to get "tickets" to osl finals. Really shows dedication.
If I can, I'm giving my ticket to someone that I know who's contacted me long time ago and is not a new poster. If I have more, I'll be doing the same thing: Giving away tickets to those who are actually dedicated, not some new comers who show up just in hopes of watching BW live.

12 might not cut it this time around.
oh jeez, I guess I'll head there for around 9-10ish maybe, basically as soon as I get back form the TL meetup on friday, go sleep, then wake up and head over. So eariler is I can manage it then.

The finals are being held at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium. VIP tickets are being handed out until 4PM for those that managed to get an invite at e-stars (they are no longer being given out). No official word yet on general admission tickets. People are planning to start lining up early in the morning---would not surprise me given that people were lining up 10+ hours in advance of the semi-final.

If only I was there...
At least the NYC viewing party is coming along great.
I got a question now, because everyone is talking about tickets, the tickets are just reservation for seats (so that you are guaranteed that you get a place) or do I understand something wrong? I mean is there a chance to enter the venue without a ticket, when I arrive at something about 3 to 4 pm (can't go earlier because my plane won't arrive earlier), I don't care if i get a seat or not, I mean standing is fine with me, as long i can watch the matches somehow... or do you think that 7500 people will already standing in the line and they won't let me in?
- All seating is assigned. Regular tickets will be handed out on a first-come basis beginning at 09:00. - VIP invitation holders will be assigned tickets to seats that have been reserved separately. - Admission to the stadium begins at 16:00. - Stand-by tickets will be handed out after all seats have been assigned until 15:00. Stand-by admission will be allowed based on available seating after 16:00.
As someone asked earlier, if admission is filled after 4pm, what happens to the people in line who didn't get in? Is there still a way for them to watch the match like maybe fitting a few more people into the venue or something?
I'm planning on buying a ticket to Seoul tonight but the flight won't arrive until 3pm on the day and by then I know people will have been lined up for hours. I don't want to fly over only to end up missing the finals :/
If I had to guess they will most likely set up TVs outside for people who couldn't get in. But they have to obey saftey concerns and I'm sure that place is gonna be packed. We're talking about the last ever finals here for a game that is still absurdly popular in Korea.
Best bet would be to hope someone to get a ticket for you... maybe if they can show proof of when your flight arrives so that they don't think whoever you're asking is hoarding tickets? IMO it's not worth it unless you wanna vacation a bit in Korea anyway and are willing to cross your fingers. take my word with a grain of salt since they're all just my guesses (sorry)
Jeez, 9am. I should have skipped my meeting and gone to try to get the vip tickets. I have no idea when the first train leaves bucheon. But I will be on it. if not, I'll just leave sinchon and go straight to Jamsil to wait in line.

Wow, okay, now i got a problem. Damm it, thought it would be just VIP-Tickets and no regular tickets... It feels really embarrassing and awkward to ask, because I am not a long member of the community and got hooked into BW over more or less over SC2, but could someone try and get me a ticket beforehand, please? I could pm or mail him my flight ticket or even my boarding card (I could make a photo of it, tomorrow after I checked in, if they don't believe the e-Ticket, because it could be easy to fake) I will arrive at 1pm at Incheon and try to hurry as much to the venue. Does actually anybody know how long it would take with a taxi from Incheon to Jamsil? (train does need about 85 min, according to what seoul metro says)

A taxi from Incheon airport to Jamsil will cost you an arm and might not be faster than the subway. Take the airport railroad to Seoul Station, and then eventually grab a taxi.

So the thing to do is to line up well before 9:00 in the morning (well before meaning at midnight?) and if one manages to get a ticket then get back before 16:00 to enter and the ticket will have a seat number so there is no neeed to queue a second time?
Where will the queue/ticket distribution be, at the main entrance of the stadium or somewhere else (nearby?)?
Sorry for persisting with these questions, but having gotten this far, screwing it up would be somewhat anticlimactic...

Okay, thanks for the information.
From what I gather, there are two flavours of "Airport Express" (AREX) of which one is not so "express" (not a problem if you're not in a hurry as the air conditioning is top class and it's damn hot outside) so you should make sure to find the one that doesn't stop at all that many stations. That, again from my limited knowledge, also means one that will not stop at the stations were you can switch to line 2 (serving the stations closest to the stadium), but, as others have indicated, a taxi may be a better choice for that last stretch (line 2 seems to be the analogue of "circle line ", if you're british, and riding it from the airport train to the area of the venue taks some time, I can tell from doing it).
I have been talking to the producers at OGN to try to make something happen for the finals, and they value the foreign fans of OSL around the world. They want to do something to show their appreciation for Brood War fans that have been watching for years, so they will be having an official English broadcast for the finals.

That sounds great!
Wish they'd done this years ago though. Pity it happened just as bw esports is about to die.
Holy shit, 9 AM is early... To get there by then I'd have to leave Incheon at around 7 am. I'll probably end up there around noon for tickets and cross my fingers. lol
Is there gonna be a meetup like there was for proleague finals? 10-15 of us all met up, got tickets, got lunch, and spend the afternoon at a pc bang. If that's on the agenda I might bring myself to crawl out of bed earlier.

How about a secondary group meet for us late-comers? I'm going to be coming up from Cheonan.
Off topic but Mr and Mrs Boxer are on TV rigth now. Don't remember the name of the show (is that Happy together?) but they sit like in a sauna/shower facility dressed in towels and Yoo Jae Suk is in it.
Hey so if you exit at 8 you have to keep walking after the stadium. Basically get out at 8,turn right, keep walkin and after you round a large intersection there is a line. Also I see some other TLers but I figure cutting may be frowned on haha
What's the process to get in with the tickets. I think I see a seating number? like mine is 311, 4, 13. Also there is a id number as well. Do we have assigned seats?
