Good news for people like me planning to travel for the finals. We won't have to venture out of Seoul for it!
Coex Convention & Exhibition Center located in Samseong-dong of Gangnam-gu district, Seoul, is one of South Korea's largest convention and exhibition centers. Situated on the grounds of the Korean World Trade Center complex, the site features the convention and exhibition center, the COEX Mall, three luxury hotels, an urban airport terminal, a multiplex cinema, the COEX Aquarium, CoexArtium Theater, and the Seven Luck Casino.
Specifically, the final will be held in the D Hall of the convention centre. The venue has previously hosted the Shinhan Masters final (Nada vs Savior), the TG Sambo MSL Final (iloveoov vs Yellow) and the Incruit Starleague final (Fantasy vs Stork).
GTR, im flying to korea from Malaysia to watch as well! do we need to buy tickets to watch? or wtv, i cant speak korean and it will be the first time i go there.
Cool. For me personally, no finals will top last year's at the war memorial, but Co-ex is certainly a very nice venue. Didn't realize Incruit was held there :>
SICK. I'll be there, it'll be my first (and last) BW live event. What can I expect in terms of the scale of an OSL finals (especially one so significant as this) - will it be as well-produced/epic as previous BW event finals? I've never really watched a BW finals, only the games
It would be nice if a thread was created by someone who has been to korea before and we could arrange one big TL meetup for this. I'm thinking of going as well.
Can someone please tell me that if I wanna go, do I guarantee a ticket? And where can I find information for tickets? Thx.

Last time during Incruit OSL so many people couldn't get in some of them had to watch a bigscreen outside the convention center or were sent home
Oh well CO-EX is better than travelling a million miles
hey i'd rather travel 3 hours to gwangahli than be cramped in a small convention hall just glad its not in china or some shit like that
frankly if it were to remain in seoul, the world cup stadium would be the sickest venue for the final. i mean if kpop is done in them, why not the last bw osl.

Because borrowing a whole stadium for such event actually costs a lot of money: something that OGN can't afford (or at least from what we can see).
Coex isn't a bad venue either; its just that you'll have so many people coming to watch the finals since the venue is really accessible (connected to one of the busiest subway stations in Korea).

konadora, who has his supersecret contacts at kespa and ogn, is currently serving in the singapore military.
at the PL season 1 finals, he got us a bunch of tickets so we didn't have to line up beforehand.
unfortunately, we probably will have to line up 5~6 hours in advance.

way to step up dude
we can meet up beforehand, have lunch, go to a pcbang, then go drinking after the event.

ON. can locals recommend decent backpacker lounge/hotels to stay in? will probably stay for a week just to hang around to make the air tix worth it.
It's entirely possible that it'll be different with tickets this time around because everyone knows it's the last pure BW live event and such, but for the last Proleague finals, there was no need whatsoever to queue for tickets in advance. There were way more seats than people attending.

The thing about beforehand: I think we'll have to do that few days before for pre-OSL. If you think about it, we'll have to line-up few hours if we want to get in. Not sure how my parents will like it though =/
Anyone who wants to 1v1 me in Pump it Up or any other music games while in Korea or watch Proleague/OSL before the finals (or even noraebang), feel free to PM me on TL, and I'll give you my contact info.
Is there gonna be a big party somewhere near LA? I might have time to go as im going to CA for a chemistry project... Once in a lifetime opportunity to go to a OSL party.

the korean and australian govts are doing this promotion where return flights from seoul to sydney are around $550 US
dunno how it is the other way around
Oh wow. I live on the opposite side to Sydney but I may have to check this out. Do you know which company is doing it?
i looked around (because i got the info from an ad i walked past every day for a week) but it turns out that it's from korea > aus, not the other way around. couldn't find anything
Seriously I just booked a flight but decided against a hotel in gangnam-gu RIGHT NEXT TO coex center! (I thought it wasn't the best location lol) Man should've checked TL first! I'll be there for sure though. Would pay good money for reserved seat tickets, please let us all know if there's any information regarding this? Otherwise I'll queue for as long as it's needed, not gonna miss this opportunity!
I'll probably be going to the second semi-final (FLASH VS FANTASY?) on the 17th. I still haven't booked my tickets yet though, I'll be doing that sometime at the end of the month.
if they really give out tickets during ro4 matches, i'll change my flight date to 18th, then go back on 29th. but thats only if it is confirmed.....in the middle...just watch SPL and hang around town.

Awesome! Definitely gonna try to make it to this. After seeing the last bw proleague finals, it would be a damn shame to miss out on the last bw starleague.

Yay! I'll be in Seoul then too! Do you know if you need tickets for these things, or do you just go early? I'm hoping to attend earlier rounds too, I'm guessing those are first come first served at least?
I've just decided that I'm definitely gonna go to see this. I'd just like some confirmation regarding the ticket issue. Will showing up super early on the match day be enough to get in and all?

Agree with this. A ticket would easily run over $1k here so $300 isn't as bad in comparison

Last year we got there about 4pm(the final started at 6pm). One of the guys who went to a lot of matches went and asked a friend to give us a whole lot of tickets.
However, getting there early also lets you get closer to the front, and on the side of the audience you want to be on (ie with one players fans or the others)

Then I think it might be wise to explain to us people how to get a ticket ourselves then. Like the days of the round of 4 I'll be in another part of Seoul on other business I can't talk about.
I might just e-mail Kespa myself and see if I can't score us 15-20 tickets for foreigners.

Just going to think about that for a while.
China might pick up, you never know! China is really getting to be fertile ground for Brood War, [huge uninformed assumption] with tonnes of people who are probably on old computers and can't get good ones to play the latest games. If they really get into it and make it into something big the same way Korea did, you might just get to go to a China BW finals.
Otherwise you can save every penny you have and take a loan or something to buy plane tickets to the last Korea BW OSL. Not realistic for everyone, but not impossible if you are willing to make sacrifices. Make them soon tho, cause plane tickets get more expensive the more you wait, and a transatlantic flight is already pricey.
Other option is to organize something in your area where people can get together and watch the finals, which can be a great experience too.
Not saying it isn't sad that we can't see BW on our own terms, but if there's a will there's a way...
Hi I m from Austria and i will stay in Seoul from 24. july to 3 August. I have to fly alone because all my friends have no money and no time. I m a really big BW fan and I must see the OSL Finals because it will be the last and it will be going to be awesome. Is there someone who can organize me a ticket for the finals? Many thanks in advance
hey guys, I just read the entire thread and am hoping someone knowledgeable about attending can just synthesize the best answer: what's the best way to ensure that I get a ticket to the event, given that I won't be able to attend the RO4 matches? In particular, do I just need to show up like 8 hours in advance and line up, do something the day before, try to buy one off of someone else, etc.? I'm basically willing to do whatever to secure the ticket, but would just like to know what to do. Thanks in advance.

Ahh I'm so bummed right now. When I got the news I'm getting a tax refund I immidiately thought of going to Korea to see the finals... only to find out it would cover only around half of the airline fare (minimum £850). Is there no way fly cheaply to Seoul? x_x

Just going to think about that for a while.
I know exactly how you feel... think of all the lucky bastards living in Australia/Asia who can get cheap tickets. I am really envious of those who get to go... At least I hope they make plenty of pictures and bring home plenty of autographed stuff!
Too bad it's just to long and to expensive of a flight to Korea from Sweden for going like 1-2 days, chilling with some people and watching the finals.
Yo, this is [208cm]Dan if anyone has been watching the proleague lately. Been trying to see everything I can on the weekends since I'm working during the week. Im in Daechi, right near COEX, so super excited the finals will both be there and on a day I don't have to work until the cows come home.
I do have a couple questions, though. I work until 22:00 KST every weekday, so I will not be able to attend the RO4. Is there no other way to get the tickets? And has a time for the final on the 28th been determined? If it's at noon like their proleague matches, I probably won't even be able to line up far enough in advance to have a shot at tickets at the door. Obviously, if there's another way to get the tickets, I will be more than happy to try to get some for other people, as well.

Yes, you need a ticket, but they are free. Last year they had several different lines, and one got priority. You can usually still get a lot on the day; last year some one was friendly with one of the OSL organisers and got us a enough while we waited in the line.

I have a friend who was just looking, I think Jetstar -> Singapore, then Korea Air-> Seoul is the cheapest option atm. About 900 AUD return. Tix won't last long though

I don't think this will happen unfortunetly. I went to some Lan cafes while in smaller Chinese cities and everyone was playing MOBA variants.

Hrm, maybe from the west coast, but Sydney to Singapore is not cheap :/
Hey everybody, long time lurker here. I always wanted to watch BW live and seeing as how this was my last chance I manned up and bought my plane ticket today.
It'd be cool if we could get a meet-up going before the finals.
i'll be there. i dunno how i'll find anyone else, but i'll be going.
btw, the proleague is at the same stadium, right? and it starts way before the OSL... so can one go to PL and then just stay there for the OSL? or do you have to leave, then line up again?

After many years of lurking on TL, this final chance to see some pro BW has managed to lure me out. Flight tickets and hotel - check
If anyone can get a ticket to the finals for me, I would be very thankful. If not, anyone have any idea of roughly when you have to start queueing to be sure to get a ticket?

Line up again.
thanks for the heads up. I hope that just by lining up for the OSL, i'll be able to get a ticket... even if i have to stand while watching...
So do we know when the tickets are handed out? I have to be in gangnam by 8 so if the match is 7:30, the only way I can grab a ticket is if it's right at the begining..

Yes, please, me too!
I am doing some research and very seriously considering making a trip in for the week/end. Just trying to figure out if I can fit in a day at Pusan for GSTL.
Yeah, bummer for that. It's going to be a mess on finals day. :-/
Was nice meeting supernovamaniac and a few others for the games tonight (which were epic, by the way). I'll hopefully be meeting many of you in a week at the second batch of Ro4 matches!
I'm most definitely up for hanging out before the final. Especially if tickets can't be fixed beforehand, in which case I intend to be there really early (and I mean really fucking early). :D
But we should get some official TL meet-up organised.
Thanks for checking in on that, supernovamaniac. Unfortunate that it isn't an option this time around, though. Has a specific time for the match been given yet? I'm hoping that I'll be able to get there early enough to get tickets myself, but if it's at noon, that will be fairly unlikely that I can get off work in time to do that.
I was able to contact a friend of mine in Korea about the event with a link to this thread, and she said that there will be no tickets for this (the finals), can someone confirm/verify?
Dictionary: it's at 7:30pm KST. I would suggest getting there maybe even an hour early if you want to sit down to get tickets. I don't know how early they start handing them out on weekdays, but I do know for anything involving Flash, people will get seat tickets quickly. If you're fine with standing in the back or just hoping to snipe someone's chair after they leave, don't worry about it.

Is this for the Semis, or will finals tickets also be available? I hate that I'm arriving so close to the finals date ><
I plan to go to semis next week. I heard you can get tickets for finals at semis? That's a strong incentive. I guess no one could recognize me as a TL member because I'm korean like the rest :p but maybe i'll just look for anyone speaking the english. ^^
JoJo131: Those are the tickets for the semis. I don't know the process for getting tickets to the finals. I work on the semi-final days. Maybe someone that went to Jangbi vs Zero will know that aspect.

What? There are no tickets whatsoever. First come, first serve.
EDIT: seems like there's a little bit of misunderstanding here. For Proleague, there's seat tickets. For Starleague, its first come first serve.
i.e. I waited 3.5 hours to enter 1st to grab amazing seats for Jangbi vs Zero.
Ah, my apologies, then. I thought they made that change to all the matches. Has been really weird to have to make sure you don't let the Koreans ignore you and get tickets for proleague, lol.

It would be truly strange if it wasn't. It would be very strange if you couldn't get them on the day of the finals. I don't know when they will be available, but I'm counting on day of being possible since I work in another city and plan to come up on Saturday morning.

It won't be strange due to eStars, apparently.
As of this moment, no plans of tickets. First come first serve.

Do they kick people out from PL match then let people in for OSL? or is it in a separate room? I'm trying to figure out how early I need to be there.
I bet there's gonna be way more people than can fit so my advice would be to attend the PL match earlier in the day as well. It's the same room.
I don't know if its just the fact that people love ignoring my statements or they just ignore it by accident.
THEY KICK YOU OUT AFTER PROLEAGUE ENDS so that they can change the setup for OSL. SOME HARDCORE FANS WILL BE LINING UP BEFORE PROLEAGUE ENDS (just like what I did).

First come first serve for OSL.
At what time did you get there for last tuesday's match? I think I could be there at 4 or 4:30 at the earliest, you reckon that'll be enough to get decent seats?
Also, random question but I figured I might as well ask here can you bring cameras and take pictures at the games? or is this not allowed? I could always use the cell phone camera in that case I guess but I'd prefer my "real" camera

4~4:30 will probably get you a seat, but you can't leave unless someone else spots for you on the line.
And yes, you can bring a camera. Just don't use flash when players are playing the games... (you know, the usual. If you do something stupid, the referees have the right to kick you out (i've recently read the rules and they are allowed to kick out people who are distracting the players/broadcast))
Update: Whoever's coming to Korea only on that date (28th) for finals: seems like the Finals schedule has been changed, as it has been removed from the eStars lineup and replaced with Woongjin vs CJ on main stage.
Will update the location/date/time as soon as possible.

Mr. Chae must have just did a fist pump with GSTL Finals on the same night in Busan.

Thanks literary just found it as you posted. So I've never been to an event before (I'm actually studying abroad here) Do you know if it's just first come first serve or do I need to purchase/reserve a ticket?
