Oh, it'll stay afloat; the scene is growing and has more stability than previous western e-sport bubbles. What I mean that there are like 50 major SC2 tournaments, and not one of them is making money. Eventually, it'll collapse, and there's be 4-5 major SC2 tournaments that are making money. This is pretty much unanimous consensus among most of the people losing money and competing to be one of the last 4-5.

LoL, I think, is the same way. There's a lot of POTENTIAL for it to be big, and thus an incentive to try and make it big in LoL. And it's easier to do that in LoL because Riot supports tournaments a lot more than Valve (Dota) or Blizzard (SC2) does. But most of the people who are trying to get into LoL are going to fail. That's not even pessimism, it's just true. There are a lot more people trying to make money in LoL (and SC2, and really "e-sports" in general) than the scene can actually sustain, but the guys still standing at the end will reap the rewards.

LoL, like SC2, is a bubble. It is. The question is where it's like the dotcom bubble (where most of those startups failed, but there were a few Amazons among the pets.coms) or like the housing bubble where just everyone loses.

Yellow could potentially make more money in LoL, but it's a risky venture.

Haha, this is kinda cool. It still sucks that he isn't playing SC at all professionally anymore, but at least he's around.

I don't know much at all about pro-LoL, but I hope they win everything in the universe!

Rofl what does he really know about LoL? I think they signed him to be like a team mascot or something, and he agreed just so he can earn a few extra bucks on the side, which is what I would do if I were him.

Any actual facts to substantiate the claim that Yellow is a poker addict? Just because someone plays poker a lot does not make him an addict. If he's doing this coaching LoL gig because he lost most or all of the money he made in BW, then we can say he has a problem.

Yeah.. I'm half expecting Rekrul to make an appearance after those comments...

The title made me imagine Yellow and Yarnc working together, then I remembered .

But yeah this was a bit out of the blue.

He's not just a coach in the team, he's their head coach, or what they call "director" in Korean. It's a big appointment.

How fitting. But I guess this means a Reach/Yellow SC2 team is never going to happen Good for Yellow though.

Oh Storm Zerg, why so you cool.

Although I much prefer SC2 over LoL (and MOBA in general) and I consider LoL to be a noob friendly DoTA, I kinda hope it gets off :D

I hope he still goes on to make a second season of his reality-tv-show-of-trying-to-get-into-Code A in the GSL.

Funny seeing people that think sc2 is actually a big scene in korea. You notice how all these teams are actually get sponsors and many sc2 cant? There's a reason for that.

If anything sc2 is only big because of the foreign numbers.

Pretty much, though it's slowly growing in Korea. That's why the "OMG SC2 is going to kill BW" hype is so overblown. SC2 is actually going to collapse a bit pretty soon. And there's not yet any reason to think LoL will be any different. I mean, it might not. It very well could take off. But it hasn't stood on it's own two feet yet.

That's why I'm surprised Yellow isn't getting a job in BW, as a coach or commentator or something. He must either love LoL or hate all things Starcraft.

Though, I suppose, it's not like he can't go back to being a BW community dude if LoL doesn't pan out.

OGN is hosting a LoL league for the next year so we'll soon see how they do.

This is sad First fruit dealer playing LoL, now yellow coaching a LoL team... Look if you cant macro and control whole armies maybe this is the way to go. LoL is for the people who fail out of SC2 and are looking for an easy way back into e-sports.

lol is growing a lot in korea, i would say 90% of males who play games regularly have at least tried lol, if not started to play consistently.
but thats all gonna change when dota2 comes out (hopefully)

At the people saying lol is like sc2 and will just burn out or is a "bubble" is pretty hilarious. sc2 never ever made the charts for top games played in pc cafes, where lol was steady at lower 2-5% and just recently bursted up higher. If anything it will grow more since tournaments are gaining more support recently. Sc2 was never played as much as lol currently is (in korea).

Sc2 fans need to stop living in a delusional world.

3rd. BW is still bigger than SC2.

I don't think LoL is very big in Korea, but it also released there fairly recently, so it's a good bet it'll grow.

Still, it's really kind of arbitrary a career move. I guess I wish him well, though.

I wonder if it's named "Storm" after him. I'd like to see him play, I guess. I wonder what champion he'd pick.

Afaik, these stats are drawn from activity in PCBangs (Korean internet cafes, and are usually used to follow which games are popular and so on). Sudden Attack, the korean CS, being the most dominant one followed by Aion, an MMORPG.

LoL has seen an explosive growth in Korea, which is why you see all them Pros talk about it / move it. It could very well be the next big thing in Korea. (If it already isn't.)

Really looking forward to this.

LoL is a moba not an RTS
