News Source: DES Interview: DES
Shine, who didn't get picked up by a team on the previous posting, has joined Samsung Khan.
With Great going to the military, Samsung Khan added Shine to bolster their weak Zerg lineup. Samsung had previously picked up RorO to strengthen their Zerg line, but felt that in order to be competitive the team needed more Zerg players, so they brought in Shine.
Shine had moved into the dorm and is now devoting himself to practice. Shine was distressed that he didn't join a team before, but now, since he joined Samsung, he is passionate about his revival.
T/N: the "posting" is referring to the news about the creation of Team 8 and the drafting of the remaining players. Shine was not on that list.
Interview with Shine: "I will lay down my worries and be reborn."
"I feel really good now that I joined Samsung."
Shine, who was now confirmed to join Samsung Khan, gave a smile that could not be seen from him the past few months. The struggles he had to go through must have been why. As if joining a team for the first time, Shine could not hide the thrill.
Since his passion for the game was bigger than anyone, Shine was hurt big time by the disbanding of his team and the failure to be picked up by a team last time. Getting hurt like that twice, he was pressured by the fact that he might not be able to play anymore.
"To be honest, the players knew about the disbanding of the team way beforehand. We heard it from members of other teams. Last season, when we found out about this, the players could not focus on the games. I was no exception. For a time, I thought about all kinds of things."
Shine couldn't post good results last season because he couldn't focus on practice. When the team disbanded for real, he moved from the practice house to his home and gripped his mouse in determination. He still had hope that he would be able to play in another team.
However, Shine had another trial to go through. He was not picked up by any team during the creation of Team 8. After getting the news by phone, Shine confessed that he just sat down stunned for a while.
"The truth is I had braced myself for this situation since my results last season weren't very good, but when it became reality I was in unbelief. I lost my mind. I was so upset I cried. It was hard thinking that this is how I was going to end."
Going through such a hard time, Shine didn't look back and forth when Samsung extended its offer for him to join. He didn't care about money or anything else. For him, continuing to play was more important.
"I thought it was the end, but now that I got the opportunity to start anew, I can only think about working hard. I have confidence that I will do well."
Fortunately. he was now in the same team with RorO, who started his progaming career with Shine in Wemade. Roro rejoiced when he heard the news that Shine was joining him. Furthermore, he able to adjust thanks to the Samsung players welcoming them with open arms and Odin being very considerate of him. Shine now can just focus on the game.
"Since Roro-hyung sits next to me in practice, I almost never felt that I was in a new team. Plus I cannot describe how good my teammates were to me. Odin-hyung especially was very considerate of me. I think I am a Samsung player already "
Shine vowed to silence those who say that the Samsung Zerg line is weak this coming season. If there are 50 matches, Shine wants at least 30 wins and continue the reputable line of Samsung Khan Zergs that was only cut off for a short time.
"My goal is to make the other teams worry about our Zerg line. I will conjure up a typhoon again this season. Please watch and cheer for me."

At least he won't die to any 3-hatch hydra all-ins now.
As for Bisu, I'd say it's nigh time for him to be knocked out of the OSL again by Shine (happened around this time the past 2 years).

Shine was a freaking beast last season, but during 2011 he kind of slumped big time. Hopefully with him and Roro on Khan the Zergs will start putting in the work
From the December 2010 Power Rank:
"With a 14-game winstreak under his belt (and still riding it), Shine has bested some of Brood War's top players (Sea and Bisu) multiple times, defeated the rest, and all-ined his way to victory[...]. Currently the player with the fifth highest ELO (second highest Zerg after Jaedong), Shine is ELO peaking in all matchups except for vP, where he is three points shy of doing so.
To put this all in perspective, the longest winstreak in progaming history was GoRush's 16. Shine plays his teammate Mind next, and FOX's next match is against STX. If Shine can win both of those upcoming matches, he'll be in a position to set a record that Flash hasn't yet. Yep, that's right. Shine."

Hydra-bust/fast lurker bust/ general slayer of Protoss,

For The Swarm!!!! Shine, the incarnation of Kwanro will destroy every protoss in 2011/2012. I like aggressive Zergs. Edit: lol the post above me. Similar thoughts...

Well....there goes the most handsome team. At least Stork and JangBi won't fall into aggressive Zerg plays anymore.

WHYYYY. WHY SHINE, WHY NOT HIYA
Goddammit. I don't want to have to cheer for him, not after he's spent his entire career eliminating my favorite players from OSLs. I wonder how Stork feels about having Shine for a teammate lol.
Oh well. At least Samsung's zerg line won't be a joke anymore.
Edit: Also, imagining Opticalshot's reaction to this. Ahahahahahaha! Oh man.

I've kinda forgiven him for cheesing Horang2... Go Shine, I guess.

Shine has to work hard in Khan he striped Stork of a potential OSL title and has to pay . Also Shine is one of my favourite players , he is very likeable , unless you like protoss :D .

Great news! :D Where is that comic "Hydras, more hydras!" ?!

Even though i dislike Shine, i'm happy for every currently unemployed programer that finds a team.

He would have been awesome in 2011 , but the pressure of knowing that your team is disbanding must have gotten to him .

Definitely hope shine gets out of his slump, and gets fielded more. He probably just needs to beat Bisu in the OSL again. : P

Anyone want to see shine's doppleganger look up spanshwa or spanishwa not sure how to spell it

They only picked up Shine so Khan toss players wouldn't lose to hydra busts in PL.

Great to see Shine getting picked up, would've been sad to see him retire.

I hate Shine, but this is still great news. First it will make Samsung stronger and able to compete with the Big Four. Second, Bisu will beat him again Third, in such dark times, it's always nice to see teams investing in new players.
I never thought I would say that in my fan life, but... fuck yeah Shine !

I have incredibly mixed feelings about this... rofl...omg

Oh nice the best Cheeser ever coming to Samsung Khan ! Thank you for the news.

YES! THIS COULDN'T HAVE GONE BETTER!
Forgive the all-caps, but Khan is week on Zerg. RoRo was a treat, but Shine makes it even better! Shine and Stork, enemies no more. Now they unite to battle against Bisu.

This is amazing. KHAN should be even more competitive next year! And I've always had a soft spot for shine, despite his multiple annihilations of Stork.
Go KHAN!

I actually didn't see this coming, even though it makes a lot of sense now. Shine still just doesn't come off as a "Khan Zerg" to me though. Gonna take a while to get used to this.

pretty much this :> thanks for translating jpak

Glad to hear it. He sounds like he really wanted to continue and it's great the scene can still support him. Lets cross our fingers for the other guys too. It feels the recent events really has rallied everyone around here together in support of the players regardless of team allegiance. I'm feeling pretty positive about the whole upcoming season.
I think KeSPA should actually get some credit too considering they only get mentioned in a negative context. They've had to respond and deal with the match fixing, Blizzard's pointless lawsuit, and sponsors pulling out. Now hopefully we can see even more improvement; better PL crowds to do less games and being spread out. Pick up a couple of good sponsors. I really hope a solution for the MSL will be found too, i think OSL alone would really be worse.

This supports my SKT vs Khan finals theory. I called it even before shine. Trust me it will happen. God, this PL season is going to be way better then last seasons. and I loved last seasons!

Awesome. Now PICKUP Hiya Khan. Please

|
RorO-Shine combo will fill some voids. They should achieve at least a 50% win rate for the team, thus giving a good chance Jangbi and Stork to clean things up. If Turn can get back on track, this will be a very good team.
I'm happy for Shine, and for Khan. I would love for Stork and Shine to become friends, though I don't count on it.

Awesome news Khan Shine always provided for good/funny games, especially individual leagues lol

Oh My God!
Khan its going to be such a fucking powerhouse this season, fuck yeah number 1 Team. We got this proleague ezpz

I swear Khan obtained Shine just to annoy the shit out of Bisu, so that they can be the only Protoss powerhouse team in the league

Seriously, this will do wonders for the Khan. The one problem they've always had was the zerg department. Both lacking zergs and lacking vZ players. FBH at his prime was probably their only anti-zerg. Finally they've filled this hole.
It's kind of funny. But if Khan vs T1 ever goes to Ace next season, I kind of want to see Shine vs Bisu rather than Stork vs Bisu.
|
well i never liked shine much, and prolly most of wemade team. they always seemed to be kinda distant from the other players and i feared they wouldnt get picked. now we can see a bit more from them and prolly learn to like them :p go shine! go roro!

This is pretty cool to see Shine and RorO back together.

Wooohooohoooohooohoo! I'm am super glad that Shine got picked up by a team. He was always my favorite player on Wemade after Nada and Mind starting dipping in form. Now I'm conflicted as to who to support now that the Wemade core has been split.

I think you're kind of forgetting that this isn't the OSL. It's Proleague. Everyone's making it out like Shine is trolololol autowin vs. Bisu, when Bisu is 3-1 against him in PL. Sending a zerg against Bisu in an ace match when your team already has a pretty reliable Bisu-killer (Stork is 5-0 against him in the last 2 years) would just be suicide. Not even Trolluary would pull that shit.
The OSL... is another story. If Shine knocks Bisu out again... -___-

You are missing the point. It's not winning or losing. It's the troll value. Specifically, the troll value of Bisu losing to Shine is so sweet things like "play to win" come secondary.
Stork over Bisu? Good Game. Shine over Bisu? Hilarity ensues.

Makes sense for Khan, a good pickup for them. Now all they need is HiyA

As a Samsung Khan, I don't like this. I dislike Shine as a player. Jaedong would have been much better.

I find this ironic.
But I actually don't remember any hostility (?) between Khan tosses and Shine, so I think this is a great move. It's also hard to have a bad match-up with SKT vs. Khan now.
|
In other news today, Stork has quit playing for Samsung Khan in rage after a 20-game in-house losing streak to mass hydralurker play. During his time as a free agent, he will be debuting on the side as a professional cell-phone game player.
|
This is huge. I can't believe I missed this. I don't really understand how this will affect things exactly, given the new context. There are so many new factors that it's difficult to predict the effect of any individual one.
The landscape this season will be like a whole new planet.
I just keep wondering what the hell is up with STX...

Nah, he still will be. His problem with Shine was never in PL anyway, but in OSL. And you can still play teammates in individual leagues, so... yeah. Maybe he'll be better prepared for it though, if they practice together often.

From Juni and ByuL to RorO and Shine, such a significant upgrade. The single glaring hole on the team is now a potential strength.

I think he means Stork will be better able to defend cheese. Shine's timing in ZvP is really, really good. My fanboy hate of him aside, I can't deny that his hydra busts generally works against even the best protosses. Something that Samsung zergs have trouble with. Great, for all his success, is mostly known for his turtling style.
It would really help Samsung tosses to know certain aspects of hydra busts that would allow them to defend against it more proficiently.

Does anyone remember a ZvT where Shine mindfucked some poor terran? I think it involved a very late muta switch and maybe guards? Been looking for that vod forever
