I wish i had more time to watch old BW. I feel like i could spend every waking moment for years and still not be satisfied. I have yet to get through all of the old OSL and MSL finals.

Edit: And become a Fan of some bw player, there are so many cool personalities! My favs are Jaedong (I love how he looks/ talks and his Z style is super style..) and Fantasy (he plays terran the way I always image humans would fight the alian races, full mech/ valkyries high tech unites, with doing epic defences and walls super cool to watch)

Glad i could point you to it - truly one of the greatest matches ever played. One wonders what Bisu would be capable of if he discovered the glory of the double observatory build.

No other rivalry has produced average game quality that high. Even if you look at Boxer/Yellow or Flash/Jaedong, you never get the same level of tension.

Thank you everyone who has posted in this... I am in the EXACT same position as Colin is (well, I'm 19 and didn't play the beta :p ) but I've been wondering about this as well. There is something about BW that appeals to me, and I regret not knowing about it even 5 years ago. Thanks for all the help!

I had similar feelings of regret that i hadn't found the scene sooner. When i was a forum newbie i spent so much time reading final edits and such and remember feeling so amazed at the richness of proBW. It's never too late get into Korean BW though. I've been watching since 2009 and i do feel like i'm witnessing events that are special, that history will not forget (Flash golden mouse, Jangbi OSL, even match-fixing scandal.)

I agree with the person who said follow a particular player first. Well, of course it would be better to decide on a main race you play (keep playing off-race as well to hone your understanding of the game) and watch a particular player...

Just gonna share some personal stuff. I used to be a Protoss player, and I played a lot of FFAs with my friends. I didn't get into the proscene until late 2004, and of course, Boxer became my favorite player. He was a god among men and he could do no wrong. When he went up against oov, I knew this was going to be his last chance (although I was wrong) to get a golden mouse. As fate had it, I didn't like oov. I thought he was a boring player. And so when I saw that result I decided to (1) play Terran to honor Boxer and (2) stop watching pro-BW cause it hurts when your favorite player loses.

And now, I'm a Terran player primarily, but a Bisu fan. Funny how things work out. My point is this: it's always nice to play the game you're watching just so you don't forget how difficult the game is and how much you love it. But follow the players. Follow the teams. Follow the history, and you will never regret doing so.
