Proleague Finals will take place on August 19th, 18:00 KST at the "Forest Stage" at Children's Grand Park. Strange stage name.

It's within a park with other attractions surrounding it, for more pictures of Children's Grand Park, see here: http://blog.daum.net/hongdolry/180
Edit: As usual, a lot of whining and complaining by Korean netizens about the venue, mainly the size. I guess they're under the impression that you can book a 30,000 seater stadium with just 1 week's notice.
The Shinhan Proleague 10-11 finals that were to be held in Shanghai, China but was canceled by the Chinese government due to public safety concerns over the typhoon and weather have been decided by KeSPA to be held 2 weeks later in Korea.
KeSPA has stated, "We have decided that holding the finals again in China will be impossible and plan to hold the Proleague finals again in Korea within 2 weeks."
It seems that KeSPA is currently searching for an appropriate indoor gymnasium venue for the finals and plans to announce the decided location in the near future.
A heavy disappointment for the Chinese fans who were hoping to see the finals in person and to all the overseas fans who stayed up. Good news for the Korean fans though.

sad for the chinese fans tho, but perhaps we can see it at Busan, why are they looking for an indoor gymnasium venue?.
Nope, no news about that yet as of so far.
And probably because it's been raining hard recently in Korea as well? I don't really have a clue.
Thanks for the info Spica.
My guess is it's a case of once bitten, twice shy - can you even imagine them having to postpone the event twice because they decided to have it outdoors and the weather screwed them again?
So KT gets away with 2 more weeks as reigning champions. Enjoy while you can.
But oh well, so bummed about today. I went to buy some drinks and got back in time for the main event, and suddenly I realize there are no active streams on the list anymore.

Well, KT and SKT1 are the richest teams. Couple that with MBC Hero in disaster, STX wanting to trade everyone, and everything else going down, I wouldn't be shocked if both teams add come Monday.
Would be shocked if KT lost Flash or SKT1 lost Best, though. Only way Flash leaves KT is another team has built him a new wrist.
oh wow contracts are ending? surely theyd make an exception for the finals...i mean you were scheduled to play a game during the period of your contract, doesnt mean you cant play it since its been postponed now even if best/flash move teams eventually i still think theyd play the finals under their current teams
That's bullshit, you can't play the entire season with one squad and then contest the title with brand-new players. Common sense better prevail and a gentlemen's agreement put in place.

It doesn't work this way. Don't post misinformation. They're just going to release the list of players who qualify for Free Agency on Monday. Negotiations between players and teams end only in late August/early September.
Isn't free agency a gimmick, since you have to pay twice the salary of the player to the former team or something like that?
Besides I'm very happy this wasn't the PL finals I went to see live, imagine the frustration of going around the world to end up stuck on a typhoon alert. Hope the korean fans show where it belongs to.

Thing is, if FlaSh's wrist can be managed.. he's probably worth twice his current (very high) salary.
Oh man, the Chinese were very excited to see the BW stars in RLm I know a lot of people who sort of quit BW gained interest again.. Many ppl knew that there was a typhoon coming and still went anyway.

We are very attracted to winning in Chinese culture.
To give you an idea, players won't even compete in international tourneys if they don't think they have at least a 50/50 getting to semis.

Storks has a huge fan base in China too, but it's just amazing that everyone like Bisu in China not matter what team/player they support. With the current bonjwa and JD on stage, this was showing all the signs of an epic turn out. The forum interaction has substantially also increases in plu so the Chinese fans are excited.
Don't blame Kespa because they were doing this to save BW. Don't Blame China Gov for cancelling the final due to safety reason. because it would caused a Asia Spring if Bisu is hurt during the typhoon. Don't blame the organisers cause they may never find the sponsorship to do this again.

Prevention is better than cure. It's a natural disaster, very hard to predict when it comes. You do not want the event to be interrupted halfway and plus, it's an injury-prone disaster.

Well, if the typhoon really hits and causes injuries, yeah, the gov will get the blame for not stopping the event from going on. Hard to predict natural disaster man. If it's easy, Japan wont suffer great losses when earthquake hits them.

the last time the typhoon hit, 19 people were dead. Lives were lost. If it did get extremely windy and there were so many people in such a crowded area, it will be so difficult to evacuate properly. Someone could get hit by flying debris or a stage might collapse.
Nothing wrong at all with what they are doing. The typhoon warning has been issued since 5th and they have evacuated 200,000 people. If nothing happened then great, but this is mother nature, you can't predict that.

That's not really fair. Had they allowed the event to go on and the storm did come. They would be blamed for anything that happened to the players or audience. The possibility of interruption due to typhoon strong winds or power outage happening within the several hours it would take for a BO7 had to be avoided. Not like they singled out the event either. I'm sure other outdoor activities had to be canceled when an official announcement was made due to the weather concern.

I don't think its that easy to get a backup: booking a venue costs $, assuming they can find a suitable place. Setting things up will likely take a few days which essentially ruin people's travel plans.
Ultimately the victims are bw fans who stayed up, esp those who traveled to shanghai to catch the finals.
Kespa will likely reconsider outdoor venues in the future.

Not having a backup plan given that there was a good likelihood of the event being cancelled due to a typhoon warning issued 2 days ago IS rather incompetent.
Also, the typhoon essentially grounded all flights for the next day or so, so people who flew here specifically for the event can reschedule their flights to a later time should kespa have stayed with shanghai and held it within a few days.
But yes, the victims are the people who bought tickets, went to shanghai, and waited at the venue for hours receiving conflicting information only to go home in disappointment. Makes a terrible impression for all the chinese fans who went there, and an even worse impression for foreign fans who flew there to see it.
I wouldn't count on the title of this thread. There's absolutely no confirmation in any of hte korean sites and the linked daily esports article has gone AWOL. It sounds like they are still deciding on what to do.
The real winner is Boxer. He didn't fly to China with Yellow. Now he can probably go to the final without paying out of his own pocket to go see it in Shanghai.

Agree. It is not that easy to work out a backup plan within 2 days.
Plus, I guess even if making a plan B to hold the final indoors is possible, KESPA probably would not agree. They wanted to hold the SPL final in Shanghai because they wished more ppl to know BW, just like the OSL final last year, while an indoor final would be absolutely less attractive.

There should have been a cutoff, where if an hour or two before the start, they still couldn't confirm that they could proceed, they should've just postponed it with a proper contingency. You didn't even need to outright buy a venue - just find somewhere that wasn't booked and was willing to reserve the spot for you in case the first thing didn't pan through. Outdoors or indoors, if you had something like that in place, you wouldn't have kept people up to the last minute in a will they/won't they bout of frantic stressful indecision. News of cancellation started spreading several hours before the event on chinese sites. There was even a message at the venue telling people it was cancelled. The Korean side was rather indecisive as Kespa tried hard to keep the show going.
Finding a new place within a day's notice is already difficult enough (you cant just say "reserve your hall for us as backup" - major exhibition halls are booked months in advanced). Not to mention moving gaming booths, A/V equipment, lighting, decorations, and many other logistic challenges in a foreign country causes too much trouble.
Many outdoor concerts in the past have been cancelled because of weather, even indoor ones have faced flight delays, sudden illness, etc. This is nothing new.

There's no hall that seats a few thousand people like the original one held, that would let you just go and reserve with a day's notice. There's major waiting lists for these kind of events. The reason they held the event regardless of the code orange is because they knew that rescheduling in china was a slim to none chance.
All these people who say kespa should have had a backup plan with a second venue that, first of all, was indoor and secondly, could fit all the people who bought tickets to the first venue, should sponsor these events because it seems to me, they have endless amounts of money. You can pay for the 2 large venues, the transfer of all the booths, decorations, A/V equipment and everything else that is needed for the event.
Oh come on, they're looking to reschedule in a gymnasium - don't give me that bull of them having to find a concert arena or whatever as a replacement. You make do with what you have.
Damn, anyone else feel like this is going to totally negate SKT's 1st place seed advantage ? 2 weeks is a hell of a lot of time for the KT players to rest up themselves and prepare their own sniping strategies for SKT. And I feel like most SKT players will just be out of practice now having not played a real match in like over a month.

LOL When they say gymnasium, they mean the kind that the STX Cup Finals and OSL Finals are regularly held in. These seat a few thousand people. And yes, major concerts are regularly held in these gymnasiums.

What about an airport hanger? They did that before. Or maybe it could be HomeStoryCup style from Flashes bedroom!

And you don't think there's one in the whole of Shanghai that they could've found as a backup?
Hell, I'll run along with this argument. Is there any evidence they even tried to implement a backup? There are probably dozens of suitable indoor venues that could've been used as an alternative in the Shanghai region. Are you telling me they were all booked solid? How do you know?
My argument is that crossing your fingers and hoping the gov't will let things slide was probably the worst choice that they could've made in this admittedly unfortunate situation.

Well they obviously need more than a day or two to set things up (assuming the weather even clears up in that time) and every extra day spent in Shanghai would have been a waste of time and money for players, coaches, organizers, and the fans who flew in and most likely didn't plan to stay for long.
Even in Korea they had to delay it by two weeks so you can't really expect them to stay that amount of time in China. They probably tried to get it through so hard because they knew they would have to cancel it otherwise.
Kespa, ongamenet, and brood war scene in general are suffering from financial difficulties so they don't have many options.

They couldn't find one which could be approved within 2-3 days. Minimum advance booking needed a week. This was stated on Fomos. Even if they could have found a venue within a few days, they would still have to move all the equipment, lighting, booths, stage and crew over the the new venue. Setting up the original venue already took them days. The teams had arrived in Shanghai on Thursday afternoon and before that other crew/staffers had already arrived. They should perhaps have canceled on Thursday or Friday instead of at the last minute but the disappointment wouldn't be any less. It is what it is.

Within two weeks.
But KESPA is fucked with OSL/MSL going on, players becoming free agents, having to find a new place, the STX Masters Cup, etc.
Can anyone link me to the "free agent" news? I heard flash was going to do it, but I just assume he will go back to KT anyway... Also, I feel really bad for the Chinese fans who waited and now get no show T_T
man that sucks. hopefully they can rearrange that properly. would be great news if it were to be held in china as scheduled. otherwise the Chinese fans will be devastated. not to mention the overseas community as well.

Only adds more drama to this big clash. Too bad we gotta wait 2 weeks for it to happen, but better late than never! KT fighting~!
That's not bad, or at least the way things were looking I was preparing for a lot worse. Although I have a feeling that the pre-game entertainment is going to be a puppet show.
It seems to be an acceptable venue considering the circumstances. Funny notion that the GSL WC also had it's finals in the same location, and a discerning eye could spy some empty seats in the very back of the venue during that event. I expect the Proleague finals to be more packed and energetic.
I hope that they also arranged for some acceptable Kpop despite the circumstances.

Yep, quite certain it will be much fuller than this:

SPL must enjoy causing me pain since I'm gonna be in Seoul on that day but I'll be working at e-stars, at the COEX, so there's no way to attend. What's brutal is if they'd held it the day after, when the schedule for e-stars ends earlier, I could have made a run at attending it ;_;

what's estars? And where is COEX?
estars is a gaming tournament...i think its for cs or dota or something of that sort COEX is actually not too far from Children's Grand Park which is unfortunate >< the Children's park is just a little bit down the dark green line... T.T looking at a map, COEX is near gangnam
It's been raining really badly recently though =[ -edit- which sounds really insensitive because of the typhoon, but it's still going to impact the size of the audience.

Call out sick, hide your face with a bandana or when cameras are looking at you, you'll fit right in and never get caught ^^
I'm still on holiday. If this whole crisis didn't happen I'd have gone for this instead of Lim Jin Rok. TT
Still. Everything is in shape for it to be an amazing final. I'm really excited for this. Actually, after Flash has taken away the fear of his retirement, I'm more excited than the first time I settled in to watch it.
