게임이 개국 10년 만에 게임 채널에서 음악 채널로 장르를 변경한다.

27일 디스이즈게임의 취재 결과에 따르면, MBC게임을 운영하는 MBC플러스미디어는 음원 사이트 A사와 손잡고 음악 채널 론칭을 준비하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 이 과정에서 MBC게임 채널을 음악 채널로 바꾼다는 계획이다.

이를 위해 MBC플러스미디어는 오는 8월 A사와 계약하고 조직 개편을 실시할 예정이며, 올해 안에 게임 및 e스포츠 프로그램을 모두 정리하고 음악 채널로 변경하는 작업에 들어갈 것으로 보인다.

이에 따라 MBC게임은 주력 콘텐츠 MSL과 테켄 크래쉬, STX컵 등 현재 진행 중이거나 대기 중인 리그를 마지막으로 e스포츠 프로그램을 종료하며, 게임 정보 프로그램들도 올해 안에 모두 방송을 마치고 음악 채널 변경 준비를 완료할 것으로 알려졌다.

MBC게임은 올해 초부터 채널 장르가 바뀐다는 이야기가 나돌기 시작했다. 이후 4월경부터 케이블 방송 관계자들을 중심으로 변경 장르를 음악으로 결정했고, 신한은행 프로리그 10-11 시즌이 끝나는대로 채널 변경에 나설 것이라는 구체적인 내용들이 알려지기도 했다.

MBC게임은 지난 2001년 패션 전문 채널이었던 LOOK TV를 인수해 겜비시(gembc)라는 이름으로 개국해 첫 방송을 시작했고, 2003년 MBC게임으로 채널 명칭을 변경하면서 온게임넷과 양대 게임방송국으로 자리매김하며 e스포츠와 게임문화 발전에 기여해 왔다.

이로써 국내 게임 채널은 가장 먼저 개국한 온게임넷과 지난 7월 8일 게임 & 애니메이션으로 장르를 변경한 애니박스 두 곳 만이 남게 됐다.


MBC game will change its genre from game to music after 10 years from its beginning.

According to Thisisgame’s interview on 27th [of July], MBC PlusMedia, who runs MBC games, is getting ready to launch a music channel with Music website A. They will change MBC games to a music channel.

For this, MBC PlusMedia will sign a contract with a company whose name begins with A this coming August and start a structural reorganisation, and it seems like they will clear up all the game/ esports progammes, as well as game information programmes by the end this year.

The rumours of MBC game changing the channel genre was circulating from start of this year. From April, the specifics [of this rumour] radiated from cable channel personals that [MBC games] have decided to change its genre to music and will change as soon as Sinhan bank proleague 10-11 season finishes.

MBC games started its first broadcasts after they bought LOOK TV, a fashion channel, in 2001 and changed it to GeMBC. And in 2003, it changed its name to MBCgames and became one of the two pillars of Game broadcasting industry, contributing very much into devlopment of Esports and Game cultures

Now, there are only 2 game channels left, it being OngameNet -which was the first gaming channel to open- and Anibox - which changed its genre to game& animation this 8th of July (hey thats my birthday! :D)
