- This is your 8th time, and 6th consecutive time advancing to MSL Ro4. ▲ I'm in a good mood, but I'm not particularly happy or anything. Although I made such a record, I will still keep going towards higher grounds. Even if I haven't made such records I will still want to write a new page in esports history. I don't really care for records like these, I will only look forward. - Your results in May wasn't anything to write home about, are you satisfied with it? ▲ I originally thought it was just an unlucky April and then May came along (laugh). My form hasn't been good and there are still things to be resolved. Hopefully I can recover soon (laugh).
- Your performance wasn't perfect today either. ▲ I have also felt that recently, it is very hard to maintain the best possible form all the time. In my defence, my body hasn't been feeling well lately, and I feel very tired. To reach my strongest level of competitiveness is very hard. I'm at my worst period right now, I hope I can conquer it. Once I get over this period I will perform better.
- Was it really hard to play on La Mancha? ▲ After R5 I personally wish that La Mancha can be dropped (laugh). I don't want to play on that map again (laugh). It was ok in practice, but whenever I play live match on La Machina I lose.
- Your Ro4 opponent will be a zerg. Last season you lost in Ro4 to Hydra. ▲ I think this is a good opportunity. This is the same as last season, playing ZvZ in the semis. I didn't want to be eliminated again, and I still feel the same this season. This time I will prepare well for each and every game, I won't make the same mistake I did last season.
- Today you don't look like your were comfortable with your eyes. ▲ My eyes are feeling especially dry today, if I have time after R5 ended I should go pay the doctors a visit. I had a sight correction surgery recently, the weather has been hot and it's not comfortable.
- Any thing else you would like to say? ▲ I have lost too many times recently, and I could no longer face the fans. Everyone had put so much faith in me and yet I did not perform, I am very sorry, I will work hard to regain better form. Also, our team is in a low point right now, we lost the last match and didn't win the ace game, I am truly sorry to all my team mates and my coaching staff. I will work harder to fulfill my role for the remaining SPL matches. Also, I need to thank all the protoss team mates that helped me with practice today, I will treat them to whatever that they wish to eat (laugh).
- Thoughts on your consecutive qualification into Ro4? ▲ I had little time to prepare, but I did everything I could to concentrate on practicing, therefore I'm even more satisfied (laugh).
- You lost to Mind in SPL and also dropped the first set to him. ▲ I feel like the SPL game is just a one off, and in the first set I was abit unlucky and was abit disadvantaged, so I didn't really put much notice onto them at all. I was not shaken by the losses and I was still very confident during my preparation.
- Are you confident in your ZvT? ▲ My semi final opponent will be either Leta or Flash, if I can get over this hurdle then I will go to the final. I hope I can change the image that I am bad at ZvT, and I will work hard to prepare for it.
- Who do you hope to face in Ro4? ▲ I haven't thought about 'who would make it easier for me to advance', but since I have yet to face any team mates in televised games yet, I'm thinking it would be pretty interesting if I have to play against Leta hyung. However Flash has been very hot recently, and he is a really great player, so I look forward to him too. So no matter who it will be, it would be great (laugh). I've only had my mind on preparing for Ro8 so I haven't thought about the semis yet. I think they are both exceptional terran players.
- Your team has been on a roll in SPL lately, has that inspired you? ▲ It's not so much inspired, it's just that that before our winning streak I was under alot of pressure to perform and it makes me feel burdened. But all my team mates are now doing very well, and I don't want this to change, so I'm putting in even more effort into practice sessions, and also the preparations for individual leagues. I hope this will be good for the team and that everyone in the team can continue to ride the momentum to extend our winning streak.
- So far the only zerg in your team who has gotten pass Flash is EffOrt, do you have ambition for that title? ▲ If Flash advance to the Ro4, I will definitely seek help from a certain "practice partner" who has convincingly beaten Flash before (laugh). If I can obtain sage advice from said "practice partner" for my preparation, I have every chance in the world to play well (laugh).
- Anything else you would like to say? ▲ We had a break yesterday, but BByong and Rush helped me alot. It was only because of them that I could advance today, so I really want to thank them. Also, I want to thank the coaching staff and the head coach for giving me heaps of advice and support for the match. Finally I want to thank all the fans who has been cheering for me.
Can the advice from The Sage help Hydra overcome a God? (although I don't think Flash is in God-mode anymore, he's still a fierce opponent, and for all I know he might be up against Leta instead of Flash *gasp*).
Nonetheless very awesome play from Hydra tonight, changed my opinion a little on him about his ZvT match up, but the real test is yet to come! Prepare yourself Hydra
What? JD had eye surgery recently? Hope he feels better and is back in tip top form soon, I'll be cheering for you Jaedong! No matter what happens!
Flash God-mode ended in 2010. He is just one of the top players now. CJ house is awesome. They always prepare their players excellently for StarLeagues. And their PL momentum now is very strong as well.

Pope shouldn' tbe too cetic. Flash got this MSL.
Just like he had that OSL when the score was 2-0 and Effort won 3-2. Hydra got this ez-mode. All he has to do is a ling-runby in set5 and it's MSL finals vs. Zero

I just found it hilarious that the Pope was commenting on "God".

My faith is strong.
So believe me, I know God when I see one :p Bless your soul child
"However Flash has been very hot >>>recently<<<, and he is a really great player" hah, I hope its just because of translation, otherwise Hydra amuses me, as if "Oh, yeah I know this guy FLash, yeah, he's been quite hot recently, I guess I should train harder" loL! I guess Hydra should get more spare pants before his match with Flash. (sorry Leta, <3333)
In almost every interview someone mentioned certain practice partners that would have a day off put instead practice with them .. WILL THEY NEVER GET THEIR DAYS OFF ? We will never know
On May 19 2011 23:32 Koka-kola wrote: Poor JD, PL and MSL is too much for him, I guess. I have a felling that he is getting old, actually, that is a very bad sign. Well...
I think JD's recent problems has more to do with his illness tbh. from what I heard he was down with the flu, was feverish and barely slept at all. Then try to play pro starcraft at the 400 apm pace. I could barely manage to cannon rush some silver league scrub in SC2 when I was home sick, lulz.
I feel so bad for him when I read that interview, he takes his whole team on his shoulders and then feels guilty when can't always carry them, while trying to manage the MSL at the same time. Watching him apologize to the fans and his team like that is just heartbreaking, I hope he wins this MSL so bad, he really deserves it.

Regardless of translation, if Flash was always so good he wouldn't have gotten eliminated in both leagues last season the way he did. Hydra already recognized him as a great player so I don't know what you are picking on.

Agree -- Flash is not immortal. But, generally speaking, Hydra has a long road to go to Olympus, but do you really think he will BO5 Flash ? Oh, nowhere on earth, well if he does I will bow my head.
If it's Leta vs Hydra it will be a teammate battle and a roommate battle so that will be interesting. If it's Hydra vs Flash then Hydra can get help from Effort and Leta so that should be awesome series. Leta winning a title would be great too, but at this point I look at him like he is Sea.

After watching this quarter final I really do think he has a real chance in a Bo5 with Flash, his ZvT reminds me of a certain CJ "practice partner"
It would be very exciting indeed to see Flash vs Hydra. Hydra is kick-ass, Effort is backing him up, we've only seen one game between the two (which Flash completely dominated though ) so we don't really know how they match up vs each other.
La Mancha was supposed to be played twice so that means he didn't give it a thumbs down. I'm guessing he thumbed down Monte Cristo (since Dante's Peak is great for zerg and JD does well on Circuit Breaker).

True. brings back memories of type-b vs Leta (when Leta was having some ACE match win streak in pl), where everybody expected leta to trash typeB - yet he failed so so so so so so badly (doing too much cutesy micro). Leta has yet to show a solid Bo5 series or teammate battle play.
Thanks for the translation. I'm kind of surprised Hydra 3-1'ed Mind, but barring him pulling an EffOrt, I'm not sure at all that he's gonna get past Flash.
Jaedong looks really tired in that pic, almost like the ones back in mid-2009, when he was in both leagues and carrying his team in PL. He really needs to be able to find a time to rest and recharge. Also, when did he get eye surgery? I thought he only had that LASIK thing back in 2009.
Mind, you let me down T.T Oh well, Hydra I swear... Jaedong, really needs time off or something, OZ always has... Killer? Perfectman? Lomo? Anytime, that right. Anytime. Thanks for the translations
I really hope JD regains his physical form, which I think in turn will help him regain his gaming confidence. He's obviously still one of the scariest players out there to face, but he's uncharacteristically sadface at the moment :X
it would be cool if hydra take MSL again so we can have more multi-title holder other than jaedong & flash I love jaedong and flash but I just wish other face can take title too leta really deserve one too and it's been a long time.
Lol the upcoming Flash vs Hydra match will be the first time (and hopefully also the last time) I cheer for Flash. Hydra is just too evil that even Flash looks much less evil.

Where did you hear this?
Two previous interviews after his losses in PR as well as a link on Gosugamers somewhere, though that was just a korean site translated through babelfish or something like that so it wasn't very coherent.
Don't really think JD would make that up, he's not the type to make excuses.
Someone needs to tell Hydra that EffOrt's win over Flash was not "convincing" in the slightest. Can EffOrt teach Hydra how to make Flash mis-micro again? I don't think so... haha
EDIT: Forgot to say thanks for the interview translation!
Jaedong is a beast! Whatched his games vs Grape on the stream. I hope he goes all the way! Will be rooting for him in the semi's Lee Jae Dong<3 Also thanks for the translations

3-0'ing Flash after being down 0-2 is not convincing? What the hell could be more convincing???

You clearly didn't see the Judgement day game before the OSL, and the Fighting spirit game in the next MSL, in addition to the 3 in a row that he won in the KA OSL by dissecting flash's style and taking advantage of it.
Jaedong Q_Q He's so hard on himself! I HOPE HE WINS THIS. It would probs take alot of stress off him, because he always feels pressured to be number one =<

Well... a game 3,4,5 which lasts more than 10 minutes each? Flash made crucial mistakes in each game, mistakes one should never make (except maybe game 4). G3: Moved marines out in a line without any scouting information. G4: proxied right in the center, not at a hidden location. G5: Doesn't wall off a 14CC
GGplay vs Iris was convinving. Bisu vs Savior was convincing. Flash vs Jaedong @ hanadaetoo was convincing. This was not.
Jaedong for Golden Badge, and if not him then Flash for Golden Badge, and if not him then Hydra for consecutive MSL Golds, and if not him then Zero for first individual starleague win.

3 you don't give Effort his credit, he hid much of his zergling force and took a base in a weird location to coax him out. How do you get scouting information with zerglings at your choke and no scans? 4 that how you usually BBS on a 3-4 player map, no? 5 are you sure it is possible to wall off the nat completely on that map anyway?
Whatever the arguments, only one player in that final showed a champions mentality winning a bo5 after 0-2 is very convincing whatever the circumstance. There were no 4pools, all the wins were well deserved.
All wins are deserved but what has mentality got to do with it? After losing to a very solid build, Flash took two heavy risks and neither payed off. Flash takes risks and cuts his economy/timings razer thin, he wins a lot because of it and he often looks like an idiot when he loses.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. He tried the same sort of risky play against Jaedong, with completely blind counters and even triple 14CC. and he looked dominant doing so; if he had lost, you'd have fanboys whining that he shouldn't ever 14CC again and anti-fans laughing at him.
Hydra showed awesome ZvT this series--so fun to watch! I think he can take a few games off of Flash, but I don't think he'll win the series. It's kind of unfortunate that Flash has to play two TvZ bo5's in a row since he likes to prepare special builds, but I still believe he'll win this MSL (if Zero doesn't make the finals that is).
3 zergs and 1 terran in the semifinals...and last time it was 4 zergs. its really annoying how zerg has begun to dominate as the metagame has become more macro intensive. just numbers numbers and more numbers..do you guys realize how long a protoss hasn't been in the semifinals or finals in the MSL. some variety please.
So I gather you guys haven't seen my rendition of the first picture in the OP. Don't worry, it's worth the wait. It was just the first thing I thought of when I saw that picture. In any case, I'm hoping Hydra will loose in a Teamkill, even though we all know Flash wants a rematch for Nate :/

And the time before that was 3 Terran 1 Zerg >_>
... and the two times before that both had Protoss semifinalists although they both got destroyed by F/J.

Jesus Christ, I thought I was spoiled again by Day 3 MSL results...then i thought about it for a sec. lol
Kinda hoped Mind would get through, but Hydra vs Flash could give some good games. Also, is it just me or interviewers kinda ask weird questions to Jaedong? Last time they kept bashing him about his loss in PL the day before, and now they just keep telling him his performance isn't good and how today wasn't perfect... Pretty depressing to read haha. Anyway, I can't get enough of FvJ finals, so here's hoping for another one! LeeSsang fighting!
When he tries to be normal he looks awkward, when he tries to be hard he looks sheepish. Gotta work on those photo skill man, the BW-playing is doing great. Still, Flash is prolly going to beat Hydra, and lol at those who think Zero will beat the dong.
