I did wonder about the pointer speed, mine is set one mark above the middle, and my mouse is set at 1800 DPI (highest for this mouse), since I feel I get more accuracy from the mouse software than windows. But I assume he's still using his ball mouse, and he sets it way low, yet he still moves his mouse very quickly. How does this work?

wtf is mouse acceleration...maybe i should download mouse drivers someday.
and i put that "enhance pointer precision" thing out last night. Felt like a drunk person.

If you use it or don't isn't going to make the difference, so it doesn't actually matter. But if you need a reason not to turn it off, Idra, Testie and most top foreigners I've talked to do use it, so it's not a bad thing. I've personally used both (accel for three years, non for about half a year) and it goes back to the first sentence.

The only big disadvantage to using accel is that it's quite a bit different from XP to Vista, so if you use XP at home and go to a LAN with Vista (or vica versa), you might not be able to get used to the change and will cry.

I never have it on and never notice any trouble with the mouse. I don't even have the speed turned up that high though so I guess that's just my preference... and for those who still don't know if you want to deactivate it nowadays it is often disguied as "increase pointer precision" so uncheck that.

I turned off the mouse acceleration that came a long with the drivers years ago. I remember having some troubles microing, as the pace of the mouse would accelerate and i'd missclick and lose a bunch of units for no reason.

But like a year ago or so, I found out that there's an implented mouse-acceleration in windows and downloaded a "mouse-fix" to turn it off. The mouse movement is a lot smoother after that, and the clicks a lot more accurate.

Without acceleration, the movement is a linear function. With accel its harder for brain to get used to. So, no wise person would use acceleration.
