Since I'm a huge SKT1 fan, I will say that the storyline of round 1 is an undefeated SKT1 team. Two ace matches (against KT with and Stars). Bisu is 10-0 and has a confidence high that cannot be matched. It will be difficult to take him down. Not to mention BeSt and Fantasy with big wins too. Oh, and Kwanro has sucked completely but sOO has stepped up and we're seeing Afrotoss show some talent in the individual leagues.
I'm not saying the proleague is over and that SKT1 should be crowned champs. Stars did take them 7 games and ZerO or Free are no slouches against Fantasy/Bisu.
So that's my side. Maybe to you it's the fact this could be the last proleague with BW because of the lawsuits. Maybe it's the fact KTF is one game ahead of Jaedong OZ and Airforce Ace (which 4-0'd MBC). Maybe it is Bisu 10-0. But the one thing we can all agree on is this: We're glad it's still going.
|
Bisu cost me all my ESPORTS bucks a few months ago, and now he's decided to be undefeatable But I still want to cheer for him.
|
Bisu's 10-0 streak would be the biggest story to me. Then there's Soulkey solidifying himself as a top Zerg and great ZvT player. Next would be KT's losing streak.
|
Turn stepping up for Khan and their dragons doing so poorly.
And of course, Bisu.
It's also been really interesting to watch all the estro players try to fit in to the other teams.

ACE picking up the first 4-0 of the season was pretty big news when it happened.

ACE 4-0 and competitive in most matches, KT slump, Bisu 10-0, in that order.
|
rise of soulkey, bisu undefeated, KT slumping
|
Jangbi epic slumping and is the worst player of the round.
|
Ignoring my SKT icon, I am far more impressed of how Flash played. After losing an awesome game to Best, none of his other opponents never stood a chance against him. Too bad for KT as a whole.
Well, SKT is doing so well because the maps are not imbalance (ask Bisu). Hyuk didn't do so well though.
|
Some of the highlights of this season are: SKT's perfect record Bisu's 10-0 record Flash's 9-1(not much of a surprise though) KT fail Rise of Soulkey and woongjin Turn 7-0 and Perfectman's 4 wins(these 2 just came out of nowhere), Soo is doing well too Jangbi's massive fail(I think he should be demoted from dragon to dragoon, so we have the Five Dragons and a dragoon, even Bisu didn't slump this hard) ACE being a team that can win more than one match for once.
|
Samsung being mediocre but not cause their young players are sucking. Jangbi's slump has made me very sad
|
I think Jangbi's fail is more that he's done. I don't think he can exit his slump. I also think the eSTRO players are having an impact. Really makes Stars a championship contender.
|
I'm interested to see what happens when Bisu finally has to face a good non-Zerg player. So far for the most part he's been stomping on Zergs and shitty Protosses. 10-0 is impressive nonetheless, but I feel like he hasn't really been challenged yet.
|
SKT's perfect round and Bisu's streak are obvious.
Soulkey has been on a rampage, while Jangbi is slumping as hard as ever.
What surprised me the most is how the usually good proleague terran players have had mediocre to poor results : Leta is 4-4, Light is 3-6, Hiya is 2-7... Fantasy, Baby, and Really have been doing ok, but nothing incredible since they all have a 6-3 record for the round 1. Sea did a little better with 7-3. Only Turn and Flash (obv) did very well with respective records 7-0 and 9-1.
I hope SKT will keep doing well, and they should as long as F/B/B deliver, and have a zerg as a backup (Soo or Kwanro). Sun and Paralyze seem to be decent.
A new dragon age ?

Jaehoon 6-3 with 4 wins in a row!
|
Jangbi's fall. This is below Savior level.

I would say SKt1 being undefeated, Bisu 10-0, Turn undefeated rookie, Soulkey showing some mad chops, and Best steam rolling flash in the Ace match at the start of the season, is what I would consider the storyline of the SPL so far. Turn is showing some amazing talent in a team full of players who aren't showing that they can get a win. I may be a Best/Bisu fanboy, I may be a flash anti-fan, but the ace match between SKT1 and KTF at the start of the season was just an outstanding game imo, one that is definately worth mentioning. The game, I think build momentum for SKT1, not only did they beat last season's champs, but they beat the best player in the world, showing that with enough effort they can beat anyone. And so far, they sure are beating everyone.

Samsung's new rookies and a temporary Jangbi slump.
And the strong ace performance.
|
Turn's 7-0 is more impressive than Bisu's 10-0 imo.

The return of Jaedong Oz, although everyone saw it coming with the new Bo7 format. And hand in hand with that story, ACE is no longer in last place!
The fall of KTF is huge. They were supposed to be contenders for winning PL outright (heck, a lot of people cried imba when they got Action), but in their current form, they're not going anywhere. At least Flash is consistent. =/
Janbi's performance is just depressing.
The biggest story for me would be the rise of Woongjin. I've always considered them to be a pretty mediocre team since they've always been overshadowed by the powerhouses like KTF and SKT. They've got some pretty talented players though, so I guess it's about time they started posting decent results.
|
I think most people expected SKT to do very well, but I don't think anyone expected KT Rolster to be this bad, especially after beating SKT 4-2 in last year's finals, and almost beating them this year
|
SKT is the biggest, but the second biggest is the awkward sense of parity. SKT and Stars are +19 and +13 in game differential respectively and everyone else is nonpositive. What this means is that while Ace and Oz are screwed (Jaedong ;_; ) KT, Khan, STX, Wemade, Hentus, and MBC are very tightly packed, which should make for an exciting playoff race down the line.
|
Turn 7-0 is pretty fkn amazing actually considering KHAN is low on the ranking.
Soulkey's performance is really nice and WTF Seiya has won a few TvZs!
IMO I think woongjin as their players improve could overpass SKT (Both excellent round 1's)
|
KTF costing me many liquibet points.

Same here. Let's be honest Bisu SHOULD be able to bash scurbs into the ground, the best person he has faced in proleague is Soulkey, who has a crazy amount of potential but still a relative rookie compared to the old guard. Everyone else he should just not have any issues with because they're basically not great players.
Guys like Turn and Jaehoon performing extremely well is more impressive to be honest if only because we don't expect anything from them.

The return of KTFLASH with all each of its member of the squad performing their best well I hope they do buck up their game . GO kt and please send out the mantoss.

I don't think Reach can help KT right now. Stats has hit that soph. slump and Forgg and Violet need to step up.
They went from being the hunters to the hunted this year. It started in Round 5 of last Proleague where they struggled. If they want to rebound, they need to become hunters again.
Khan stumbled out of the block last year (2-9?) and never rebounded. Let's hope KT can rebound.

MBC 4th despite only playing 6 players and a less than impressive showing by Light.
Oh yes and Jaehoon's rise too.^^

SKT1: Oh yeah boy boy!! Zerg lineup turning into something dependable, BFB being Big Fucking Beasts, one of these Big Fucking Beasts going 10-0 in round 1, everything is going damn straight.
STX: They started a good season, Kal&Calm&Shuttle were all so impressive, they even beat KT by a convincing 4-1 (Shuttle vs Anyppi on Central Plains LOL) and that was their peak in round 1. But they became the true STX after being 4-0'd by Stars.
Stars: Again, OH YEAH BOY BOY!! ZerO finally has a successor, team getting cleansed from evil (IMmvp, IMGanZi :D), Really is flying so high, Soulkey is rising ALL THE WAY to #4 of power rankings, ZerO to #7, free probably being the highest player off the power ranks, Really being close to free, everything is fine here.
KT: This bo7 format is what they were good in PL finals. Or is it so? I think that they just won because they watched all their opponents' matches until finals and they had so much time to prepare. And the new maps not favoring KT, this turns into KT being KTFlash.

Awards:
Biggest slump: We all feel for Jangbi.
Biggest Streak: Bisu's doing so well.
Biggest Newbie: Turn is also doing really well.
Most disappointing team: KT
Most reliable team: OZ lol duh.
Most Improved: Woojin Stars.
Also fuck yeah ace.

This time last year it was KT who was streaking through R1
Someone else on KT needs to step it up so we can turn all of those 4-2 and 4-1 losses into 4-3 wins.
|
The only story in pl right now is why KT is not winning, the answer to me and probably some otheres here is rather clear.... They have yet to play the MANTOSS!!! and I can assure you they will not win until he is played. He will return and it will be amazing...
This is all...
|
SKT is impressive at winning, and KT is impressive at failing...but friggin Jaehoon of all people tearing stuff up in Proleague? What the hell
Oh and the rise of Stars to a very convincing #2 spot. Didn't see that one coming either.
