Hyuk and Leta gain the right to be Progamer FA for the 2010 Season
KeSPA announced that Leta and Hyuk have received the FA status for the year of 2010 through their website today. Hyuk and Leta were both registered as progamers 2006 March 22nd, and because they met the requirement of three years, they received the right to be FA. After many players were publicly announced to be FA last year, there aren't many players who received FA status this year.
The FA process will take place over a month. On the 10th, there will be an education program for the FA recipients, and from the 10th to the 17th, there will be negotiations with the progame team the players are currently associated with. If they don't reach an conclusion, then the progame teams will be able to submit a "Recruitment Intent Form", and the player will be able to start negotiations. If there are no contracts formed after that, then they will be able to perform additional negotiations with the progame team they originally belonged to from the 26th to September 1st.
There are many things that changed since the FA system that first took place last year. There are many more rights given to the FA Player.
If the negotiations with the progame team the player originally belonged to break down, then KeSPA reveals this fact to the 11 Progame Teams, with the exception of Ace. The Salary and Conditions given by the original team will be revealed only to the progame team, [T/N: Not quite sure what that means], and upon receiving the conditions, the progame teams will be able to send a Recruitment Intent form to KeSPA.
There are a few conditions that needs to be satisfied to submit a Recruitment Intent form. The most important part is the Salary. They must signify a salary larger than the salary offered by the original team. The "Total Amount" Concept that became a problem last year disappeared, and the standard simply becomes the salary.
Last year's FA process was most criticized because of the "The player must go to the team that offers them the highest total amount". However, this totally changed in this year's FA. First, the "Total Amount" concept disappeared, and regardless of the Salary, the player can choose which team they wish to negotiate with.
Once KeSPA receives the Recruitment Intent form, KeSPA delivers the information to the player. The Player will be able look at all the forms and choose one, and notify KeSPA and start negotiations. The choice of FA Contracts are given the the player. They can go to any progame team regardless of the salary.
However, like last year, the players are not allowed to bring in an agent. According to KeSPA, the current Progamer - Progame Team system is not a system that can be benefited by an agent, and according to the standard contract, the progame team you belong to acts as an agent. However if the player is not an adult, they can bring in a guardian. Furthermore, they decided not to publicly announce the contracts and salary related to FA

Wouldn't Leta leaving Hite pretty much be the death blow to an already troubled team? I wouldn't be surprised to hear they were disbanding in the near future.

The article doesn't mention this but does anyone know if the compensation to the original team that the player belonged to is still in place? I remember last year if you acquired a player you had to give the team you acquired the player from money or something like that.

WOW, really interesting news because this could potentially change the entire FA class.
In terms of the FA system I'm glad they decided to get rid of this total amount and a player could potentially take a pay-cut to go to a better situation. However, what concerns me is that the whole "new team must pay 3x the amount to the old team" doesn't seem to be addressed. Unless, this new salary system vs total amount system has addressed this issue.
In terms of Leta I believe he is by far the most interesting FA because he's extremely talented, a great player, but also the captain/crutch of sparkyz. IF Leta were to leave, I could see Sparkyz easily disbanding, because they're in complete rebuilding mode right now after the toll of the match-fixing scandal. They don't have star players (outside of Leta), don't have a manager at the time, and have overall less player-depth. I wish Leta the best, and do hope he does stay with Sparkyz and I hope Sparkyz awards him with a great contract.
In terms of HyuK, its interesting because I could see some teams (SK included) potentially over-paying for him.Its interesting though because HyuK is a pretty big player for SKT1 and its "zerg line." If SKT1 does decided to let HyuK go they will have a gap in their roster that needs to be addressed, especially with the removal of their B-Team.
Leta, come to SKT, and rule the Galaxy as a co-protégé of Boxer and Oov with the clutch Fantasy. SKT can go virtually Zergless with two S-Class Terrans and two S-Class Tosses, Canata can fill in the gaps!
Teams would be so mind-gamed they'd have no clue how to prepare.

I doubt Sparkyz would disband even if Leta left and they performed poorly. They're sponsored by OGN and Hite. When Wemade was doing terribly it's not like it was disbanded either though having a star player named Nada helped.
Leta on CJ would be pretty awesome. Will be interesting if the players to decide to stay with their teams. I could definitely see Hyuk staying with SKT, but unless Leta still has some really close friends on Hite that couldn't be replaced, I don't see why he wouldn't at least look for a better team; the match fixing scandal wiped out most of his support.
Both players will probably stay on their respective teams.. Considering hite without leta is very funny though, airforce ace can probably get a better record than them lol
Ugh how much better would FA have been last year if they had this system?? Now only two progamers benefit from it ... the players who were FA last year got screwed hard.

Yay for KeSPA giving the players a choice... though it's hard to guess what players are going to choose as players usually have friendships that extend past team boundaries.

Khan would fit Leta well, too. His weakest MU is PvT and Khan has two Protoss who excel at PvT, plus no strong Terran on their team. Not nearly as much depth as SKT right now, either.
Leta's consistently been one of the best proleague players over the last three years (basically, third after Flash and Jaedong), so he isn't just a good pickup, he could be a savior (no pun intended) to just about any team.
Without him, Hite is quite possibly the worst team (including ACE), so I hope he stays on.
So, finally a real FA status. Nice to see that fan complaints about their absolutely ridiculous "free agent but not really" status from previous seasons had an effect.

Well they deserve it. He worked so hard while go.go/Yarnc/Justin fixed matches. I'm not surprised that he's disappointed in his team and wants to leave.

Not to say this as a KT fan but I think KT might pick up Leta, even. They have a salary gap from kicking out Luxury and they're similar class gamers. The same goes for STX and Hwasin.
That said, ANY team Leta joins will instantly be a playoff contender. He is a damn great player and almost every team besides maybe wemade would hugely benefit from him.

Wow.... i knew that Oz was a hugely different team at one point, but i didn't know it was quite like this.
GL sparkx..... But i dont know how much i will be able to root for them, they are going to be the worst team. Horang2 for ace...? nope.
Teams i can see NOT getting leta: KT: already 2 very solid terrans. Estro: too poor... and they have Really, they would need any other race first. ACE: because thats not how it works. CJ: They have a very solid field already, including a pretttyyyy good terran (skyhigh), They are already raising their own b-teamers. MBCGameHero: any other race, yes, but they already have 2 A+ terrans. FOX: Lollll you gotta have some diversity.... SOME.
Maybes: STX: Seeing as how solid they were, they probably want to develop their own terrans again, instead of buying new ones. STK: they are rich... they might, but i feel like getting Leta would not solve their problems haha. OZ: as much, oh god, as much as i want it. (i want it so bad) OZ has a semi decent terran lineup, hiya and backho still needs to grow for OZ to improve fundamentally.
Most Likely: Stars: I know least about the MBC coaching style to make an accurate prediction, but unlike other lines where the Terrans have been getting better, Woongjin terrans have been pretty bad, and they need the boost that they could get from leta. (unlike STK and STX) Leta would help them greatly. Khan: Leta is exactly what they need since FBH left. it would catapult them with some smart coaching into top 4 teams imo.
Hyuk: who really cares... he won't effect any team besides sparkyz significantly.
STX can afford Leta and they do desperately need a solid Terran in their lineup. Bogus/Notice and Last? are terrible, not to mention Frozean. Though the first 3 are still considered rookies IMO.
i want to see leta on STX. he would benefit a ton from practicing with players like calm and kal and it would give STX a true A-class terran.
this would instantly make STX a true top3 team as well imo.
i can see him moving to KHAN as well, because as many others have previously mentioned, they need a #1 terran after FBH and frozean both left. moving to KHAN would allow leta to get improve his TvP to a sick level after practicing with jangbi and stork every day.

It's a tough choice really. He also might want to get away from the tarnished Sparkyz image that the match fixers left behind. We'll see though. He'll be a great addition for any team who wants to win. Obviously.
Also, Leta is hite's captain. Basically I would be super surprised if he changed teams. If he does change teams my bet is on STX. I hope he ends up with more money, though. Unless that would negatively affect his play.

Hyuk cannot move anywhere since no team would take him. Leta would be wanted by everybody but I doubt he is cruel enough to personally apply the death blow against his own team.
I wouldnt be entirely surprised to see Leta transfer, maybe he doesnt have the fondest memories of Hite, after his playbooks were being sold to his opponents :-p I think the teams that could benefit most from him are KHAN and Stars. It'd be fun to see someone actually move this year, the scene is lacking in transfers.

I don't think Leta will go to Oz. Remember the salary negotiations with Jaedong? Plus it's not like they don't have any decent terran. They have Hiya who's second best player on the team. That being said, Leta should get some nice offer from Khan whose terran line is simply desperate and the team just needs some change to get back into spotlight. However, I think SKT is possibility too with Canata retiring soon they're left only with sometimes unstable Fantasy. Boxer and Oov + high salary they can offer will be hard to refuse.
I think Leta mentioned somewhere that he really, really respected boxer and aspired to play like him...
but I hope that he doesn't go to T1 D: it wouldn't be fun to see T1 or KT completely dominate. Leta is like inbetween S and A class, kinda like Kal lol. While Khan would definitely want him the most, I would like to see him go to another 1 man team like Oz (well, not so 1-man anymore, but still definitely has that feel).
If these changes had happened last year with JD and all that, it would be scary if he was on T1 or KT...

Well Midas left because he was neglected. I guess all they used him for was to cook. July also was only briefly on SKT1, some older members can give more specific reasons? Oh and what happened to Thezerg rofl. Though yeah Hyuk specifically doesn't really have a reason to leave since they rely on him as a decent Zerg player.
Also seriously guys I don't think Sparkyz would disband just because they lost their ace player and fell in the rankings. It still is OGN's team they need a SC team to represent them.
Unapproved destinations: KT (Flash and ForGG), STX (Frozean, Bogus, Last, Notice), WeMade (Baby, Midas, Mind, Nada), MBC (Light and Sea), or SKT1 (Fantasy + homegrown Terrans + Canata and Boxer to a lesser extent).
I'll add Estro and Samsung to that list because Leta wants to win.
leta was the captain of hite during their downtrodden days, and especially so after the scandal. leta IS hite. i dont think he will leave. hite will pay whatever it takes (since afaik ogn still owns the team, and hite just owns the naming rights, so they aren't entirely poor right), and leta himself will feel a sense of duty. i dont see why people think he will leave. leta in any other team doesn't work, he wont get the spotlight he needs.
edit: if he went to samsung or woongjin he could get the spotlight though.

Nobody has a clue about what comes from where in SKT terran strategies. All theses talks are based on nothing.
Everybody is like "OMG Valk, that's designed by Boxer/Oov" but the truth is that we don't know at all if Oov didn't think from the beginning that Valk is a stupid idea or if the idea doesn't come in the first place from some obscure practice partner.
That being said, Fantasy is somewhat similar to Boxer as he tends to use strategic builds and doesn't go for the most greedy macro-oriented build à-la-Flash.
Leta has his own style. He plays the same build over and over and tends to play low econ. Boxer never specialized in one strategy. He didn't even have one unit that was his trademark, while half the time you see a wraith being microed sexily in TvZ you can safely assume that Leta is playing.
I so hope STX gets him. He'd fit right into the personality of the team, with tricky, creative strategies. He also would have the terran ace spot pretty much locked down, since no STX terran is anywhere near his skill level.

I would like to see leta go to either Oz or Stars. He would make both teams a top team, although he makes any decent team a top team, and his vP weakness would be covered. Hiya and Free could help improve his TvP even more. If he does leve, he shouldn't feel guilty since hite has gone down because of the scandals and that is not his fault.
As for Hyuk, the only reason he would leave is if the team doesn't want him. He is in a good situation there for himself.

Jaedong has been practicing Protoss with Backho and Perfectman and he seems to get by
Leta to SKT1, imo. They really only have 1 Terran player with Canata performing even worse than their zergs. They actually have 1 terran, 2 protoss and 3 zergs right now.

Leta should move teams, and with how strong the terran race is in general nowadays I'm sure a lot of teams would seriously look into buying him. STX has needed a strong terran since hwasin left, and woongjin as well. Khan has also had a pretty weak terran line with the absence of FBH.
As for Hyuk, the guy is just too dam inconsistent. He can play like an above average zerg at times and then not be worthy of cleaning the b team's toilets the very next day. I remember he was the worst zerg ever, then went on a ridiculous 10-1 with an all kill of STX, then went back to complete mediocrity.
As much as I would love to see Leta to go to Stars it probably wouldnt happen as Stars is not as rich team and (somewhat) recently already acquired a player, Kwanro.

It seems the rules are slightly better for the player this year, a team can't lock a player in just by offering slightly more money than all the other offers. Actually in a way that's a pretty significant change even if the rule change seems minor. The justification offered for the 'no agents' rule is bunk, though. Shows that pro BW still is in its infancy in development of player rights.
Wonder if SKT will try their best to retain Hyuk. From interviews it seems s2 and soo look up to him as the SKT Zerg who paved their way, even though Hyuk's performance isn't that great right now. To be honest if I were in charge I'd try to develop another terran. It's kind of wild nowadays how SKT T1 reagularly fields 2 protosses, 1 terran, and 3 zergs as their lineup.
Leta's transfer might be good for a lot of teams, and maybe for him, too. But you never know how a player reacts to the new team culture. I know how we always think that "player X IS team Y" and react poorly to a team change, but without the possibility of team changes teams have no incentive to pay and treat their players well.
Only two players eligible though, what a small number. Could be good for them because any team looking to change their lineup only have those two choices, so they could get a lot of offers...well if politics don't get in the way, like whatever actually happened with that Jaedong thing in the past.

It'd be BEST for a team to get a player (of the same race) with a different style. Bisu/Best combo is working pretty well, Bisu's troubles notwithstanding. Plus the players can then learn from each other, hopefully.

I don't know where you got the notion that Khan can't win, because they're more capable of winning than half the team you listed that Leta might go to.

Both Sparkyz and SKT have given up players before so the chances are higher that transfers actually will happen.
But I hope Hyuk being transferred away won't affect SKT's zergs in a similar way to the rumor about how Frozen's transfer away from Samsung affected that team. But I have a feeling the transfer might happen because of SKT T1's huge culling of its B-team just a short while ago. Either the sponsor is pushing the team to reduce costs (probably) or they're dropping lots of players to try to recruit a new batch (where would they come from?) but both scenarios don't necessarily point towards SKT really wanting to retain Hyuk.

Well CJ's has only one "proleague" championship (as GO) but don't forget they have 3 more KPGA Tour/MBCGame Team League victories too, so it's not as if their team history is one with no victories.
Actually, look at BByong's minor league record. I think CJ would rather develop him than buy Leta, remember this is a team that rarely buys players anyway.

Both stars and CJ have more achievements as a team by themselves let alone combined than Khan, not to mention the Stars (when they were the Hanbit Stars) are on an equal footing as Khan in terms of making it to the grand finals twice and winning one.
After Hwasin's departure, it would seem like STX might be the team to go after Leta. The coach talked about FA during a recent interview and did mention them looking into going after the highest rated terran.
I don't see Hyuk leaving SKT. They have such a weak zerg lineup and he was their most consistent zerg throughout the PL season, even if he faltered toward the end of R5 and playoffs.
Honestly, I think Stars or Khan need a terran more.
And for the SKT1 terrans? It's just Fantasy. Boxer is moving into the coach role, ssak is way too old to do anything, Canata's last hoorah. What SKT needs is another star player and they will be the prohibitive favorites for next years Proleague.

Leta's best friend was UpMagic, I think. There was a whole article about how they were best friends.
And I'm sure Leta was close to Yarnc, Type-B, and Go.Go, since they were all regular A-teamers like him. He probably lost most of his closest friends and is now on a terrible team.

Leta to Oz makes alot of sense. Just because Oz already has Hiya/Lomo doesnt mean anything since they used to run with 3 terrans Hiya/ForGG/Lomo back in the day. That being said Khan would be an awesome fit for Leta as well and Samsung is rich as ballz. Either way I'd be ecstatic with Leta going to Oz or Khan. I think Oz is going to be the favorite to land him though. Did you see the way Leta was smiling at Jaedong during the All Star Game matches?

Yes, because there are so many other teams with two or more solid terrans or a absolutely undefeatable S-class terran. -.-
but srs, if mbc gets leta, they might be tempted to send out sea/light/leta all together in most PL matches; in which case they'd just be a better version of WeMade. The problem with such a lineup is that it is so much easier to practice against one matchup in particular (one might disagree and say that the styles of each player is so fundamentally different that practicing for each one is completely different, but the units and strong strategies for each map don't change at the very least).

If Leta leaves Hite the team will almost certainly be the worst team. Might even disband or combine with CJ (CJ owns OGN in some fashion right?) Not sure if he will leave, he is the captain and all, but the fixing scandal probably hurt him a lot, also might want to not carry a team by himself.

Jaedong/HiyA/Leta+ other Oz player would be one of the strongest lineups STX-Really needs a good terran after Hwasin left. They are known to buy players (July and FrOzen)
Any team would definitely be improved if they got Leta (he is the #8 ELO after all) but I think the teams who jump up the most would be Khan, STX, and Woonjin. Hyuk is almost certainly going to stay with SKT or retire. I'm hoping he goes to Khan, Oz or Stars myself.

imo leta to oz is more likely bc leta seems to be on good terms with Jaedong and the rest of OZ, that would make for a pretty tight PL next season however if he goes to KT then
