STX will be playing SKT on the 31st in the SPL playoffs.
Even though STX advanced as rank 2 and had a lot of time to prepare, their results in R5 wasn’t good, and their opponent is SKT who advanced all the way from the Ro6. In terms of momentum, STX seems to be the challenger instead.
It will be difficult for STX to play against the defending champions, but to realize their first trip to Gwang-An-Ri, STX is preparing well for the playoffs. Apparently, a lot of other teams are lending a helping hand to STX. Not only are they helping with practice over BattleNet, Samsung and eSTRO players even moved in to the STX house to practice with them.
Samsung provided Jangbi, Brave, Juni, and Chavi, and eSTRO provided Really, Classic, and Action to help STX practice. They’re living together with STX, and they’re helping as if it’s their own game.
STX’s head coach Kim says: “We tried a lot of practice methods, and to help get accustomed to different styles from different players, we’re practicing with other teams’ players. It’s a hard request, but these teams still accepted, which makes us very grateful.” He also said: “Especially the Samsung and eSTRO players, they came to our house to practice. Practicing online can’t compare to the effect that this will have, it will be great.”
In particular, help from Samsung’s dual Protosses Stork-Jangbi will be very useful to helping STX preparing for SKT’s dual Protosses Bisu-Best. In the STX house, the reporter saw Jangbi, and he said “If we’re going to help, we might as well come. This method will probably help STX even more.” Coach Kim joked: “These players are great, I’ll be sorry to let them go after this ends!”
