Movie: "I still can't believe I'm in the finals." "Now, everything will change depending on how well I prepare."
- How do you feel about getting into the finals in your first OSL? ▲ Not too long ago, I was thinking about how I should get through the prelims, so I still can't believe that I'm in the finals. I'm just tired at the moment. I am always tired after matches.
- Shine defeated Taek-Bang duo to get into the Semi-Finals. How did you feel about that? ▲ I watched VODs of him playing, and it was really scary. From a Protoss player's perspective, he's a really scary person to face, so I knew I had to do something before he got even scarier. But I felt that the games today were slightly favored to me overall. Even til the end of game 2, I was not warmed up, but even though I had won, I still felt a bit nervous. I lost the third game but after that game, I felt all warmed up and ready to go, and the fourth game turned out well for me.
- You managed to scout your opponent's strategy in the first set with your probe. ▲ I went for a probe scout, but his expo was in a different place than I had expected it to be. That was when, despite being fully certain, I somewhat expected a Hydralisk rush. But after I saw the Hydralisks, I immediately stopped corsair production and massed Cannons, because I knew if I defended that rush, I would win.
- In the 2nd game, you and Shine's army didn't collide and went straight for each other's mains. Didn't you get nervous? ▲ I was supposed to be able to get my observer out quicker, but my command wasn't registered. I think it was because my hands weren't fully warmed up yet. But my army was far bigger than his, so I knew I was able to push all the way to his main if I played calmly. I somehow anticipated a doom drop, but I knew if I were to be just fully defensive I would give too much time to my opponent, so I decided to attack.
- What would be the reason for your defeat in the third game? ▲ I wasn't able to prepare well against Mutalisks. I thought I had built Cannons but I didn't. I used a similar build I used against ZerO the last time, but Shine handled it well, and I made mistakes too.
- Was the dt-combined attack in the fourth game a prepared strategy? ▲ I actually prepared another build on Fighting Spirit, but I decided to change it yesterday. While practice, I somehow felt like changing my strategy, and it worked well. It was actually just to deal some pressure, but like how I made my mistakes with cannons in the third game, I think Shine made mistakes not building sunken colonies in the fourth game.
- How did you prepare for today? ▲ I practiced for Proleague while practicing for my OSL in my spare time, but recently I dedicated full time to the OSL. Despite being their off-days, Hydra and Orion helped me non-stop with practice. I am really grateful. Also, many of my seniors in my team who have experience playing series games gave me great advice. Even ACE's Much gave me lots of good advice. He told me that I will regret it if I miss this opportunity, and that I should play as though my life depended on it.
- After Nal_rA, you are the team's first Protoss finalist. ▲ I kept this thought in my mind as I played my games - "As long as my winrate is above 60%, I can win my opponent". That is what my manager told me as well from the start of the OSL, and talking about our targets as well as about winning games with EffOrt helped me a long way.
- The maps for the finals have been decided. Are you happy with the outcome? ▲ I don't think the maps will play that big a role. Even if I'm at a disadvantage, I wouldn't give up, and even if I'm at an advantage, it doesn't mean I would definitely win. Rather than blaming the maps, the results will be different depending on how well I prepare.
- How do you feel about Flash, who you will be facing in the finals? ▲ Even though we are both the same progamers, I still think that he's really amazing. Other progamers feel the same. I think that it is better that he's currently the best player at the moment. I will feel even better when I defeat him, as compared to defeating other players.
- Who do you want tell the news of your advancement into the finals first? ▲ I would like to inform my mother first. She always watches my games live, so she should already know the results. She always wishes me luck before my games, and when when I feel nervous before my games, I will call her. That helps me settle down a bit.
- How will you prepare for the finals? ▲ Because of Proleague, I intend to prepare for Proleague mainly while preparing for the finals in-between. My results in Proleague is not that good at the moment, so I will feel bad if I do well in my individual league (while performing badly in Proleague). This time, I will have to prepare the same way I prepared for the Semi-Finals. I will work hard to do well in both Proleague and the OSL.
- Any final words? ▲ I want to thank my teammates who helped me with practice. Before I came here today, I practiced with Kwanro a lot, and I think that helped me greatly. Kwanro told me I have to win today so that Flash will have a harder time preparing for both TvZ and TvP. I think that was why he helped me with practice so hard. In the end, it worked out well.
Hahahaha. Kwanro, former teammate is so evil~ for wanting more burden for Flash. Looking forward to the OSL finals even if Flash 3-0's Movie edit:typo :\
I will honestly be surprised if movie takes a game off of flash.

Probably close to the 5 most important BW games he'll ever play and he's just going to train for them "in-between".
I dont beleive them when they say that. I just figure its team/sponsor expectation so they play it off to get a good image. In reality? hell no. He's set to win possibly thousands of dollars and endless glory. That always takes precedence over "responsibility" to an organization, no matter what...

thx kona for the trans,GL in future
You're an idiot if you think Flash could beat Kwanro/Movie without practice.
What's kinda worrying is that lately Flash has been saying stuff like "with the permission from my coaches I was able to focus entirely on OSL (/MSL)", while Movie here is like "I practised in-between proleague practice". I hope Movie actually gets enough practice time so it doesn't end up a complete rape in the final D:
Please Movie beat Flash in the finals, i know it is unlikely but i would be so happy if he could achieve that...i am so sick of hearing Flash this and Flash that (eventhough he is probably the best right now)
I was reading the other thread, and almost posted that the matches within the next week will basically be CJ vs. Flash, then I remembered Kwanro switched teams.

The interview is nothing unexpected. Mannered, confident, having the backup of many talented players... I'd like a good TvP finals, but I'm afraid how will he fare after seeing Best the other day...

I agree, i love Flash but i hope he'll win only the MSL.

I don't speak any Korean, but this part seems confusingly worded:

edit:
Movie is almost definitely lying about the "I'm going to practice mainly for PL thing", I think. They all say that to put on a good face for their team spirit and all that, but come on. COME ON. We know what they're really focusing on.

i'm pretty sure they only say that proleague is more important since it's the "noble" thing to say. You know, team over individual.... .Obviously once you reach a certain stage in an osl or msl it's way bigger than a proleague match not even at the end of the season.

kwanro is like the smartest sneakiest motherfucker in progaming
if you watched a couple kwanro games and a couple effort games you would never think it was Kwanro who was consistently succeeding in individual leagues (MSL finalist, MSL semis, OSL Ro16 x2), and was 9-1 in his last 10.
but kwanro is smart and has smart builds and outside of the game trickery like this to make up for his lack of ability.

I don't think so. This definitely varies among progamers, partly depending on how much their team needs them / the character of the pro gamer. Like during GOM season 3 when effort and Iris were about to face, effort practiced mainly for pro league and Iris practiced like a madman to be successful in his 2 individual leagues.

For greedy reasons, of course, I'm happy that he's doing well with Stars, and hope he and Zero continue their awesomeness.
Gotta love Kwanro. Unfortunately for him his little scheme is not gonna work. Flash fighting!

Flash beat BeSt. if he loses to Movie, then i will be sad. i love movie, but i dont want him to get any further than a 1-3. and seriously, movie's only good mu is PvZ.
ah thanks again for the translation! I like how he says, "I think that it is better that he's currently the best player at the moment. I will feel even better when I defeat him, as compared to defeating other players." Good mentality imo.

Very smart for Kwanro lol. Flash is going to be tested whether the community thinks so or not.
Sad that in the interview you don't see Movie saying Savior and Effort helped him train. Korean Pro teams are so damn weird. You'd think they helped each other out more. Then again, Kwanro is a WAY better practice partner for Movie than Effort/Savior. He's got a very similar style to Shine.
GJ Movie. You deserved to get into the finals, after shining hero and zero
I'm glad it became a TvP final, Shine would have a really hard time against Flash's TvZ.

Well Kwanro and Jaedong/Calm/Effort are not really comparable.
Calm is a middle game player, Jaedong/Effort late game (yes, Jaedong is more of a management player now). Shine is an aggressive player, yes.
Kwanro while fully capable of playing late game ZvT (unlike Shine who cant play any late game whatsoever) is unpredictable. Hes the type of player who could just change from three hatch muta into three hatch lings.
And IF Kwanro finds an all-in strategy to Flash's one rax expand Flash COULD lose the series. If anyone can beat Flash early game its Kwanro. But I highly doubt it, if he were on CJ sure! XD

I actually think Flash will have a hard time playing against kwanro provided that he doesn't change his play style. Flash relies a lot on his defensive skills to establish a strong economic advantage, much like Oov used to do back in the days. This is exemplified by his greedy FE openings against JD/Calm/Zero (minus the rush on HBR). Kwanro is known for his aggressive pre-muta early game (read: all-ins), and this is a style that is similar to JulyZerg (and we all know how the series between July and oov went).

I think Flash will choose to go 2 rax CC over 1 rax CC in his series against Kwanro. Either that or 1 rax cc with very early simcity at the natural.
Flash's game vs Calm on El Nino was close (talking about turret to muta timing), if Kwanro was playing at that moment, Flash may just have lost there.

I was pretty impressive with Calm's late game for his third game in the series against Flash. Kwanro's late game seemed solid, but he was up against light, who is not on par with Flash. If the game goes to late game, I am still certain that Flash will come on top (unless entered with a severe disadvantage).

I think Flash would've probably lost most of his games against kwanro with the openings he did against calm. He was building the CC after 2 marines iirc. However, I'd like to think that Flash is a smart adaptive player, and he chose to build the CC after scouting calm's build.
I just hope Flash reads Kwanro correctly like Stork did. That game was the most one-sided rape PvZ I've seen in a long long time.

Gillette OSL semis
July 3-2 Oov, not as impressive as a 3-0 or 3-1 on paper, but given how dominating oov was at the time, it was a huge upset.

Yeah, he hadn't lost to any Zerg at all since his proper entrance to the scene at that point, and was on a 27-0 streak. So July was the first Zerg to ever beat him, and did so in a Bo5 of all things. That's according to TLPD at least, I've heard that he was actually 27-3, but still, his dominance over Zerg back then was equal to or greater than Flashes dominance of Zergs today.
Kwanro? Beating FLASH? In a BEST OF FIVE? I can't believe this is even being debated lmao.
Also to whoever compared Kwanro with July...don't...Kwanro's well established as a player and even if he has potential for monumental improvement, it sure as hell won't happen overnight right now...also wtf...Flash already beat Kwanro with a simple timing attack like 4 weeks ago
I actually admire Kwanro's actions! It's like he is so dedicated to destroying the tyrant Terran, ruler of all the Universe that he's willing to work with the Protoss to try and take him down.
Flash is amazing... I can't see Movie beating him but he'll put up a greater fight than Shine could have, even though I thought for sure Shine would beat Movie.

I think that was why he helped me with practice so hard. In the end, it worked out well.

I would want Kwanro to win just to shut your cocky ass mouth
God I remember Tasteless dizzing Movie's name in GomTV... Who's laughing now!? GO Movie, even if I am a FlaSh fan you're still a baller to the core, man.

oh LOL I have looked Movie TvP stats and it's make me LOL to much less than 50% and lost some guys like FBH, Upmagic, Canata and finally Justin(OMG) take him 110% chance against FlaSh LOL
Even til the end of game 2, I was not warmed up... ...I think it was because my hands weren't fully warmed up yet
Maybe that's why his APM was so low. Shine wasn't even good enough for a warm up exercise.
It's fine as long as Movie does not embarrass himself in the final.
Defeating Flash at his current form can only be comparable to Bisu over Savior. I like how he values his team over his own league. But he needs to take it seriously. If he shows a good series against Flash, then he will be remembered as one of the greatest of players in the current scene. If he gets booted out 3-0 in less an hour, then he will be remembered as a joke. I really hope he devotes much more to this final.
On the bright side, with his "proleague, final, same importance" attitude, he won't go into a slump after this, since he had no expectation in the first place.
Practicing with Kwanro is a pretty smart idea. His hyper aggressive style, similar to Shine, makes good practice.
Kwanro always comes off as being a dick. What's with that guy?
Movie seems more like just some kid than most progamers (at least how they seem in interviews). He was frank about his mistakes, but framed them like excuses (obs didn't register, i thought i did build cannons), which you don't usually see. I kinda like that.
I wasn't particularly impressed with Movie's play...I felt Shine lost the game more than Movie won it (and Movie seemed to have had many mistakes, which will result in auto-losses vs. Flash). Especially after seeing Upmagic vs Movie, I don't have much hope for Movie. But the games were pretty fun to watch.

Man, what a baller. Hate it when two players I really like have to face eachother...

no way they practice for individual leagues in-between maybe the coaches wanna hear that, but when you look at the emotions, proleague does not seem THAT important to the players..
Haha kwanro is awesome but he will still die to Flash. I think movie will have a better chance against Flash but still most likely won't win. It's all good though he knocked out shine and that's all i expected for him. Just hope he plays well against Flash im hoping for an upset.

Movie will need to find some good protosses or terrans to practice with. He'll probably have to look for some outside help. Maybe Stork (for PvT advice)?
Anyways, pretty bummed out at a Wemade player getting close, but the Legend of the Fall still lives.
Movie is confident of beating Flash, that's nice to hear and Kwanro is bringing his dirty tricks into the table. Movie better beg Really to practice PvT with him or invite Stork/JangBi to discuss some crazy build. Great translation!

Stork will be busy helping Flash. I presume Movie will practice with Much.

You're an idiot if you think Flash could beat Kwanro/Movie without practice.
Yeah, like you know exactly how much skill each player has and their capabilities in their respective matchups.

Everyone who thanks him in an interview can give him nothing but the utmost praise.
Haha, Grandpa Toss is the best. Did you know that Stork dedicated his OSL victory to Much? He said so in a special interview that he was able to triumph against Fantasy because Much gave him build orders and advices.
