Latest update: April PR 2010.
Okay, so I've made a big tablo in Excel that lists everyone whose ever been on the PR. Basically, you get 10 pts for being #1, 9 pts for being #2, and so on. It's really tedious work to put it all up here, but I'm gonna post at least the players, their points and their ranking up here anyway and update it whenever there is a new PR. If you want to see it all anyway, then you can see it here:
Power Rank Screenshot
Overall, now 56 progamers have made it onto the Power Rank at least once. (I don't count Kespa and Manifisto7 as progamers. Sry, Mani , but I decided to keep you on the list at least.)
Note: It is POSSIBLE that I might have miscalculated a point or so on some occasion, so if anyone feels extremly psyched about double-checking the entire PR to correct me, than go right ahead. Edit: The exacts same has happened. Thanks.
Anyway: here is the current top gamers based on the Power Rank: (Remember that it has only existed since late 2006)
The April PR has been updated to the list. Here are the changes in the rank from last month: + Show Spoiler + Leta is now tied Free +1, now tied Kwanro +1 Kal +4, now tied Baby, New to PR, starts tied at #39 Light +2
+ Show Spoiler + #48: Manifesto7 - 1 point #48: Jju - 1 point #48: hyvaa - 1 point #48: Sea.Pure - 1 point #48: Thezerg - 1 point #48: Xellos - 1 point #48: Pusan - 1 point #48: Reach - 1 point #48: type-b - 1 point #45: keSPA - 2 points #45: Lomo - 2 points #45: Hyuk - 2 points #44: by.hero - 3 points #43: HiyA - 4 points #42: Violet - 5 points #39: Baby - 6 points #39: GoRush - 6 points #39: Movie - 6 points #38: Really - 7 points #37: Canata - 8 points #36: UpMaGiC - 9 points #35: Shine - 10 points #33: SkyHigh - 12 points #33: Iloveoov - 12 points #32: Casy - 13 points #30: Yellow(ArnC) - 16 points #30: July - 16 points #29: Anytime - 17 points #28: Kwanro(saM) - 19 points #26: free - 20 points #26: Firebathero - 20 points #25: ZerO - 23 points #24: fOrGG - 24 points #23: Nal_rA - 28 points #22: GGPlay - 34 points #21: Mind - 37 points #20: Nada - 38 points #19: Midas - 39 points #17: Calm - 42 points #17: Effort - 42 points #16: Light - 49 points #15: Best - 51 points #14: Luxury - 52 points #12: Much - 53 points #12: Jangbi - 53 points #10: Kal - 55 points #10: Leta - 55 points #9: Iris - 60 points #8: Sea - 63 points #7: Hwasin - 72 points #6: Fantasy - 78 points #5: Savior - 106 points #4: Stork - 173 points #3: Flash - 200 points #2: Bisu - 230 points #1: Jaedong - 256 points
Flash hits the 200-point marker.
That's a wrap for the April PR.
Edit: I've done a double-check, and changed some of the numbers, with some help from heyoka. This time, I'm sure it's accurate. (Note that you can add 1 point to Stork if you feel like it. The ranking wasn't serious that time, and they gave place 10 to Manifesto7) Also, I made it a tie if two or more players had the same points, so that I won't be favorising anyone and get all sorts of complaints. The order they stand in is just random, and thus, irrelevant.

gj, must have taken a lot of work adding all that up

Well, whaddya know? Looks like the Dong hasn't conquered quite everything yet. Still 7 pts up. Also: notice how big the gap is from the top 5 and downwards.
That's a wrap for November! You wanna try one for just last year? jk, this is great work. Wow, Fantasy's rising fast.

Jaedong only really began his tear in 2007. Bisu started it in 2006 (?) with the rape of Savior.
|
This is awesome. Major props for your hard work! Great statistics.
|
(1) Savior's reign was like halfway through when PR started, so Savior should be much higher. (2) How is Hwasin beating Fantasy?!?! (3)Flash is gonna be rocketing upwards this month xD (4) Thanks lol this musta taken a while (5) Where's Ra?
|
Nice work Flash is going to be #1 pretty soon if he keeps it up

Hwasin was on the PR a whole lot before people even knew who Fantasy was.
Ra, despite deserving higher ranks, never got even a #3 rank before fading away.
Flash with the +10, woot!

Bisu beat Savior on March 3rd of 2007, actually. Jaedong's real tear began about a half year later, after Bisu's triple MSL showing, more or less, when he won the OSL and the MSL back to back.

Yeah, I know that this ranking doesn't really say all that much, since it just randomly started november '06, but really, what am I supposed to do about it? Just give out random points? And besides, you are all aware of this, so it'll just have to do.

1. I know, but like I said, I can't really do much about it. 2. ... (Don't ask me) 3. I've counted the November PR in this, but yeah, I hope this continues, 'cause Flash is easily my favorite player. 4. No problem. Like I said, I'll update each PR. 5. At 23rd with 28 pts.
Also, if there is anyone else you want me to tell you at which score he stands, just let me know.

cool idea, thanks HaXXspetten!
I'm not really surprised by these results—especially considering PR is a relatively recent institution

Also, notice that Kespa has 2 pts and Manifesto7 has 1 pt...

Yeah and Sea's got 10 extra points from that on incident. PR's not to be taken TOO seriously. /hypocrite

Oh, right, I remember reading that when I counted everything. (I did this in June, long before I joined TL.) That was really weird, didn't he get #1 just 'cause the writer felt that in his heart o_0. Also, that is probably the longest text in PR history...
BTW, does anyone know any way I can upload an Excel-document to TL? Then you could see the whole thing. (Not that it matters to much. The near-20 sub-10 pointers are not very interesting. The top is what matters.)

Just after the WWI in Paris Sea joined tl and ToT and FakeSteve was very much in love with him. The #1 pr wasn't serious though and FS specified in the CBNC who #11 was and that if Sea wasn't there they would be #10. So you can change that month if you like, removing Sea and promoting everyone by 1.
|
Thanks for the info, but I'm gonna let him stay where he is. (Not that I really like him, but I have no hate for him either)
|
Is there any easy way for you to split it into each year of the PR, or 12 month intervals, because that would be cool to see.

I tried it, but the problem is that TL uses a script-based image system. I can't copy a picture from my computer to my post, and since the picture isn't on the web, posting the link does nothing. Any ideas?

Did you happen to keep the raw data? It should be pretty simple to calculate it in different ways if we have a compilation of all the ranks.
|
So you didn't keep the raw data (in excel), too bad.
I just added everything up in a big tablo. Didn't write the dates and so...
If you're referring to me writing down every power rank individually, then no. I just used all the numbers and changed them whenever necessary. Remember, i did this long before I joined TL. I didn't expect anyone to be asking about this sort of thing at the time. But if you're so desperate to see more yearly data, then by all means: do your own tablo.

I'm really interested in this now, I'll try to compile a list that has all of the actual data and post it so people can do whatever to it
thinking spreadsheet that has rank-player-date is good, yes? Then you can just run the calcs from date x to y or whatever in your program of choice

Not the smoothest operation, but I think it will work, although you're gonna have to zoom in a lil'.
Oh, and thx JWD, btw for the tip btw.

Okays, I tallied up the data for the last 4, 8 and 12 months. I made it of all PR recipients but I only chose a select few to actually find the data. It includes this month's rankings.
Flash: 22,21,28 Jaedong: 39,35,27 Calm: 32, 4, NA Stork: 14, 6, 20 Bisu: 29, 35, 35 Fantasy: 30, 28, NA Effort: 13, 22, NA Jangbi: NA, 8, 32 Yarnc: 6, 14, NA Skyhigh: 2, 10, NA Leta: NA, 17, 23
Damn, that wasted a lot of post-its.

IIRC the Manifesto7 ranking was actually stork(and the comment on that said it), but FS hates stork, so he decided to put Mani's name up instead.
Thanks for the spreadsheet.

I'm so surprised Much made #10. Haven't seen him on PR in so long

Okay I went and ran the numbers on this from that xls I made. I got the same ranks but slightly different numbers - I'm inclined to say mine are more correct because copying down the ranks kind of corrects itself. I have Stork in Mani's place in one of the ranks so thats also relevant.
Here is the total output. Avgscore is the average number of points, so the inverse of "average rank" on the PR. It broke when I tried to make it average rank and I'm a bad programmer so thats the best I can do. Once I figure out how to get it to read dates correctly I can generate the same thing broken down into years.

I want to do this for the KeSPA ranks but I'm having trouble getting those compiled.

JD is 7 pts behind, but he started a year later. that's pretty good.

On November 02 2009 02:27 [Azn]Nada wrote: (2) How is Hwasin beating Fantasy?!?!
A lot of people might consider Hwasin as a pretty average terran but people seem to forget that he's been one of the most consistently decent A-team terrans out there. Plus, he's also one of the few terrans who can use straight up SK terran without looking like a utter tool which means quite a bit.
Fantasy seems to play extremely well or extremely badly against a wide range of progamers. His recent games against decent players like Type B, Stats, Upmagic have been pretty bad and his games against the top of the bunch like Stork and Calm have him being schooled. Despite this, sometimes something for him clicks and he get the ability to play solidly and beat the very best like Jaedong and Flash.
Considering Hwasin has been around since like 2006 and has been pretty much solid throughout his whole career, its no surprise that Hwasin has been on the power rank more often than Fantasy hence being the reason why Hwasin is beating Fantasy by just a little bit.

Big 4 in top 4, no surprise there.

Kespa higher then Reach?! That's a crime against the Mantoss.

Well, when you're doing most of this at the same evening, the numbers kinda' get to your head, so it's fully possible that I miscalculated or pressed the wrong button somewhere. So, do you want me to change it to your statistics or what?

This tells me that in general good Zerg's do not stay on top for as long as other races (or PR is biased against Zergs). Another possibility is that Zerg were overall having a tougher time over the last 3 years, however the presence of Saviour and Jaedong at the top of the list makes this unlikely.
Edit: i.e. the Zerg race has a higher turnover amongst it's top players.

JD/FlaSh/Bisu are just going to pull further and further ahead though Stork might get up there too I guess.

Still kind of funny!

As a matter of fact, free and Kal are heavily overrated and Best is a one-hit wonder.

Doesn't look like Flash (or anyone else) is ever going to catch the top 2.

No, nor did I remove kespa's 2 pts. This is just the stats of what the PR says, although I am aware of those two incidents, so you can add those unofficial pts instead in your head if you feel like it.
